  1. It looks like you're off to a GREAT start!! All of the detail work looks awesome!! I have really got to get back to building some of my Ferrari kits, too!! Later,
  2. That looks like a GREAT start to a really cool gasser!! The stance is right on the money!! Later,
  3. Very cool stuff, Virgil!! Start to finish, this is a winner!! Thanks for sharing,
  4. WOW!!! That is really WILD!! That is some color you found, Bernard!! It will be interesting to see how the interior color looks with the exterior once you've got it all put together!! The engine details look really good, too!! Later,
  5. WOW, Virgil!! That is some seriously WILD stuff!! Raise the bar? I think Virgil owns the bar!! Keep up the AWESOME work!! Later,
  6. Thanks for the input and inspiration, Jarius. Maybe it's because I was a professional body repairman for 10+ years, but alignment and symmetry of key features is critical to me. I was thinking of the same approach to fix the side trim by shortening the spear. I really like the stylized trains from the 30s!! They are just too cool!! The GM Aerotrain from the 50s is a bit odd, but cool in its own way, too. Later,
  7. That was way too cool!! I smiled from start to finish!! I've always been a huge Beatles fan!! Great work on the model and a cool video to play with it at the shows!! Thanks for sharing,
  8. All of the custom changes are coming together nicely!! The chop looks very well done without being over done... Keep up the GREAT work!! Later,
  9. Way too cool, Virgil!! The color combinations and the effects are AWESOME!! Keep up the GREAT work!! Later,
  10. I'll second that!! I bought two of the new tins for $25 each at the NNL West 2 weeks ago. I may start on one of them after I finish the two builds that are currently on my bench... Later,
  11. Yeah...I really like the Testors spray can lacquer, too!! GREAT stuff!! Your Camaro is the same color I used on my Raptor show car, truck and trailer. It goes well with tan. Keep up the GREAT work!!
  12. My original intention was to build it as a woodie, only fixing the headlight housings. The idea of using carbon fiber came into play when I decided to make a few mods, (to the grille and the hood sides), and build it with a Heavy Metal theme, similar to what you described Gregg's idea was. This would also include adding about 0.06" of styrene to the tops of the runnibg boards, or deleting them completely. Now that I've seen your artwork, I may revert back to making it a woodie. If so, It' will be a dark burgundy color with the light and dark wood trim. The only thing I'm struggling with right now is how I want to resolve the horizontal misalignment between the top of the grille and the side moldings. My current plan is to paint the grille to match the body. I think that will keep the misalignment from being as obvious as it would if both parts were chrome. Your thoughts?
  13. I'll second all of that!! This thing is just WAY too cool!! Thanks for sharing,
  14. Thanks for the info, (and the artwork), Jarius! I can see even from your rear 3/4 view that the headlight housing don't droop like they do in the kit. I noticed where you put the taillights, (which are not in the kit). I haven't decided how I'll do mine yet, but I do like how you have them in the illustration. I like the wheels you drew better than the ones in the kit. Too bad they didn't go with your design there, too... I also plan on opening the side windows; versus leaving them in the panel delivery style that they are in the kit. The woodgrain looks fine to me, but I'm going to use carbon fiber decals on this one.
  15. Way cool!! My first car was a '64 Falcon Sprint!!
  16. Yeah...it was going to be mostly box-stock until I started reading some of the comments from other who also thought that this is a butt-ugly kit that's just dying for a bit of help. So...I decided to make a few changes, but not too many. I've still got my '50 Chevy Z06 pickup to finish... Later,
  17. Oh yeah...I like the orange frame and wheels with the yellow engine!! The radiator shell slanted back over the Potvin is too cool!! Don't stop now!! Later,
  18. Yeah...I think that it'll go well with the dark, Heavy Metal theme. The grille will either be body color or carbon fiber, too. That'll help resolve the problem of the misalignment of chrome color between the top of the grille and the side molding. To carry the carbon fiber look to the interior, the inserts on the door panels will be carbon fiber. I'll also see where I can add pieces of carbon fiber to the dash and under the hood. Later,
  19. WOW!! That's pretty wild!! And...way too cool!! It's hard to tell from the pics, but it looks like there's a HEMI under the hood. I really like it!! This one will be called Heavy Metal. It will be a dark metallic color, possibly in a flat finish. Instead of woodgrain on the sides, this one will have carbon fiber. With the name, I'm going to use the kit wheels, but dechrome them and paint them some sort of metallic color that compliments either the body color or the carbon fiber color. Yes, it will polarize people's opinion...but that's nothing new to me! Later,
  20. Thanks, Clay!! Stay tuned...this one's headed for a pretty wild change!! You're having way too much fun!! Actually, I may cut the grille in half, (right where the grille, fender and hood side comes together), remove the bars from the upper portion of the grille and combine that part with the hood. If I do, I'd go with a forward tilting hood. Later,
  21. Though I had originally planned on building this one pretty much from the box, only fixing the fugly headlights, I decided that the nose of the hood needed to come down about an inch and a half and that the grille needed a bit of reshaping to conform better with reshaped nose and the lines of the hood. Rather than removing material from the underside of the hood where it meets the grille, I removed the two top bars from the grille to get all of the parts fitting after the nose was lowered. Since I trimmed off the top of the sides to get the hood down in the front, I need to get some half-round styrene and lower the front end of the moldings on the sides of the hood. That will also help make it look a bit lower in the front. I like this view the best. Once I fix the side trim on the hood sides I'll finish fitting the hood and the grille. Well, that's all for tonight... Later,
  22. That's a very clean build of one of my favorite gasser race teams, SWC!! Thanks for sharing,
  23. Very nice conversion!! Thanks for sharing,
  24. Yeah...I really like the color combination, too!! Thanks for sharing,
  25. I'll second all of that!! I remember having the same problem with the cowl not fitting well on mine, too... Oh well, it looks GREAT with it off!! Later,
