  1. Those are some serious rear tires!!
  2. Very nice build, Brian!! I hope to see it at the next Milt's NNL!!
  3. See...now that you're semi-retired you've got all kinds of time to build great models!!
  4. Hey Bernard, are we going to get to see a pic of how you modified the front suspension???
  5. Well...I never said that they were easy, I just said that they're better than the plastic ones that come in the kit. You did great on the hood hinge, and yes, it was the easier one for me, too. The doors take a bit more work, but the end result is worth the extra effort!! Later,

    quick willys

The color combination fits really well on the Willys!! Thanks for sharing!!
  7. I'll second that!!! All the details look realistic and well done!! Thanks for sharing!!
  8. You might try using solder instead of plastic or aluminum tubing for the exhaust. It's much easier to form AND you don't have to paint it to get a realistic metallic look!! You can also use aluminum tubing over the solder to create "Cherry Bomb" type mufflers. Also, I used the Pegasus 23" T's on my 58 Impala, but went with narrowed 19" T's in the front. That combination fit better for me and helped get the stance the way I wanted it. Here's the link to the other pics: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=10537 Hope this helps,
  9. If you're interested, send me a PM with your new email address and I'll send you the pics I have of the 1:1 Z-11 engine. While you can't see much of it once it's stuffed deeply into the engine bay of a '58 Impala, the 409 is my favorite of the older engine designs. Later,
  10. I get mine from either the local auto parts store or the hardware store. I'll drop some in the next care package I send you. Later,
  11. Looks like you're off to a good start!! Yes, the 409 from the AMT '62 Bel Air is probably one of the better looking ones out there. If you have or get one of the drag racing '62 Bel Air kits then you can build the 409 based Z-11 427 drag racing version which is a really cool and unique engine. Later,
  12. ALL RIGHT!! Great job getting the hood hinge done!! Yes, the door hinges are a little bit trickier in getting the door to clear the fender, but no different than how you did the hood. Keep up the GREAT work and email me if you need any help!!
  13. Ron, The paint, BMF and all of the detail work looks GREAT!! Thanks for sharing,
  14. The stance looks GREAT!! How about a picture of the front suspension mods?! I'd like to see what you did to get it that low! Later,
  15. Nice job!! The interior and engine details look GREAT!! Later,
  16. Nice save, Ismael!! I'd have never known it was a "save-me-please" project if you wouldn't have said so!! Later,
  17. Have you decided on a paint type and color yet? I've often used the Testors lacquer paint as a base coat just to see how the finished model will look in a particular color and to highlight and fix any minor imperfections in the surface...kind of like an expensive coat of nicely colored primer...(with the Testors lacquer now going for $5.50 per can...)
  18. I'll agree with the others...the lines flow really well!! Too bad gas is nearing $5 a gallon where I live, otherwise I could see myself driving a yellow Nomad.
  19. WOW!! That is really RED!!! I really like how bright it is, but then you know what I think of red cars!! I can't wait to see this one finished!! Later,
  20. I'll second that!! Very nice build, Brendan!!
  21. Oh yeah!!! That's one of my most favorite Jag body styles of all time and you did a GREAT job building it!! Thanks for sharing!!
  22. I can't wait to see how you do on the hinges!! Good luck, my young friend!!
  23. Well...you might let the base color "dry" awhile before you shoot the clear on it, just to make sure. I've found that if something does appear in the base coat that a good color sanding and a reapplication of the base color will often make it disappear for good. Good luck!!
  24. That design looks vaguely familiar...but I just can't place it... Nice work, Neal!! The fuelie engine is a perfect fir for that truck!!
  25. Bernard, GREAT job filling in the spare tire hole!! The chop looks really good, too!! I think you're right about the front tire...it looks like it needs to come forward just a bit... Later,
