  1. That was the first truck kit I ever build back in the early 90's, and it was the worst truck kit I have ever built, so many poor fit problems, I certainly wouldn't spend $130 on another one ....
  2. Very nice build, was thinking of doing the one I built earlier this year in purple ....
  3. Finally got the body and chassis put together, I used some very slow epoxy, as I knew I would need 3 hands to get it together, but it's all aligned and clamped, I'll take them off in the morning, also got the coachlines on the bonnet and fuel tank, I used a little bit of modellers licence on the fuel tank, as photo's I have seen had the coachlines on the end, but I have also got photo's like the way I have done things ....
  4. Very nice build, I've seen this kit a few times, but never bought it, as I wasn't sure what it was like to build, next time I see one, I'm snapping it up ....
  5. I've used them in the past, as they have some pretty decent colours in the range, I've always used lacquer thinners to thin them out, looking at the data sheet for there Floquil thinners, it contains 45% Naphtha, 10% Xylene, 5% Ethyl Benzene, and 10% hydrocarbon solvent, plus other stuff not listed, so it is definitely not mineral spirits ....
  6. Finally got the coachlines on the body finishes, now the chassis can be fixed to the body, next to be done if the bonnet, and I've started to mask that up for the red coachlines ....

    VW Beetle

WOW, nice rebuild ..... I built the 1/24th Tamiya Beetle and that was bad enough doing the BMF, I really wouldn't want to try it on a 1/87th one ....
  8. Nice ! I do prefer the bonneted trucks, the mesh grill is to stop stone being flicked up and smashing the windscreen,
  9. Well after years of wanting to try the flocking and for some reason being to scared to do so, I finally plucked up the courage to try it out on the Morgan 4/4 I built earlier this year, I don't know why I didn't try it earlier as I was pretty pleased with the results .... One of a different note, I've been using a dremel, (Actually Minicraft) model drill and polishing mops for years, below is the front wings from my '32 Imperial, the wing on the left hasn't been touched, the wing on the right has had one polish and still needed a further couple of attempts, but work slowly and it does work ....
  10. That's some fancy work you've done there ....
  11. Brilliant build, nice detail touches in the sleeper ....
  12. Nice conversion, you can even seen any cut lines, I'll be following this one ...
  13. All my finished models go into custom made acrylic cases, but I need to find another solution as I'm running out of room to put anymore ...
  14. Superb build and a great tribute to all serving in the emergency services that put there life on the line .....
  15. Very nice build, built this one many years ago, it is a nice kit to put together, but now only build U.S or the classic bonneted Euro trucks ....
  16. I really don't know how I missed these builds, but I've just read and thoroughly enjoyed it, I love your clean building style and will put this kit down on the want's list ....
  17. Got the woodwork finished today and painted in the chassis outriggers in black .....
  18. That's one tidy model and the paintwork looks real shiney .....very nice work !
  19. Looks like wood to me !! I'm going to have to get a set of artists pencils for the toolbox, as I've seen other demo's using pencils for interior detail ...
  20. Wow, didn't know they fetched that much, I've had one of these in the stash for quite some time ....
  21. No it doesn't, see for yourself Charlie, after watching a couple episodes of Mash (One of my favorite t.v programmes) I though I would get the clear orange on, it might need a second coat, I'll make my mind up in the morning when it has all dried up
  22. That takes me back to the early 90's, as I went to the Ertl factory to write an article for the magazine 'Truck Model World' at the time I was one of a handful of people actually allowed to take photo's inside the factory, and they had a separate part of the factory called the 'Pad Printing Room' I will try to find some of those old photo's when I get to clear out the attic.
  23. I used to think that way some years ago, I started reading some of the U.S modelling magazines, and went to a few model shows, I knew I had to up my game, and tried doing more detail work, BMF, flocking, etc, seems like you never finish learning in this game .... Before finishing off for the night, I got the dry brushing done on the wood, I used Tamiya bronze for it,
  24. Getting there slowly with the body, only one rear wing to do now and the body and chassis can be mounted together, but then I spotted the woodgrain underneath, so it had to be masked off and airbrushed Tamiya Desert sand, it will be dry brushed using Tamiya bronze and a coat of clear orange on top, it's a shame it won't be seen once the model is finished ....
  25. Looks a nice model of an early Beetle, I had heard of Pyro kits, but never built one ....
