GeeBee replied to camaro73's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Very nice build, they look great together, I bought the Chevy Titan kit last year at an IPMS show, I'll get round to building it one day .... -

Very nice build, wouldn't have thought of using the flesh paint, but it did the trick ...

It's good to have a different version to the Tamiya, I'll agree Tamiya molding is brilliant, but they don't always get the detail correct, but as this comes with the 'deluxe' wheel trims instead of the Cooper S 9 hole steel wheels it will be possible to make other models of the mini, as the bodyshell will only have the one fuel cap, and the proper pre- '65 door handles, I've already got the mold done for the Austin 'wavy' front grille ready to cast in resin .... I have one on pre order, but I can see myself adding a few more to the stash ....

Only the two rear wheel arches and the bonnet to do now .....

Took a deep breath and airbrushed the coachline, did it in a few thin coats as I didn't want any paint bleeding under the masking tape, not perfect, but I'm happy with the results, now I know it works I can carry on and do all the rest now ....

Postal Jeep...
GeeBee replied to Brizio's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Stunning model, I've been following the WIP, love all the detail you've put into this one .... -
Well after a few days scratching the old head, I thought I would make a mask for it, but once it was cut out, it wasn't a 100% good fit, so back to the drawing board, in the end I just got some 18mm Tamiya tape out of the tool box and trimmed it into thin strips and did it the long way, only got the one wing done, I will get it all masked up in the next few days, and use enamel to do the read, much easier to sort if it all goes pear shape as the body is painted in lacquer
-
Superb work .... loving all the detail you're putting into the build.
-
The Tamiya kit certainly has them, but there not easy to fit as there is no mounting holes for them, back when the Mini was new side view, or as they were called over here 'Wing Mirrors' were optional and usually fitted by the supplying dealer and not the factory.

What's not to like ? Stunning build and superb paintwork .... -
So does the later 'Austin' version from Tamiya .... easy to remove and add a decal or P/E badge, I'd like to see the decal sheet for the Revell version, as the boot badge to me looks more like a decal, Taken from the Revell website :- Instructions and authentic decals with different markings, Two optional front radiator versions to build I know I'll be making a few resin copies of the wheels and grills on this one, with a little work this could be made into so many different Mini models, not just the Coopers, I still have the moulds for the Non Cooper front grills ..... one of my favorite t.v programmes while growing up was Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased) and now I can make a model of Marty's Mini, as the Cooper Mk1 used the same 'Deluxe' wheel trims....
-
That's surely just a decal, if they are going to supply both the Austin & Morris grilles in the kit, then I suspect there will Morris & Austin decals too
-
Found this photo on the 'net, great to see it will have the 'Deluxe' wheel trims, and if you look at the sprue shots, there's 2 front grilles supplied, are they both the Morris and Austin version ?? as the box art doesn't say which it is, only it's a Mini Cooper .... can't wait for mine to arrive !
-
What a superb build, love the colour, I'm a great fan of 50's American cars, I may well add this to the stash, what was it like to build ??
-
Superb build, that paint looks so shiny, lovely finish ....
-
I think (As Usual) I'm going to go for the hard way and mask up and airbrush them on ... wish me luck !
-
I'm still scratching my head on that one ! ....
