Just bought this off eBay, from a model store in Burbank California, I'll probably get it in the New Year, could have got one a little cheaper, but this was the only seller with a 100% feedback

ALCLADE II LACQUER..PROS & CONS..
GeeBee replied to Swamp Dog's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
All the high shine finishes require a black base, the others don't need it -
What's the story behind your user name/avatar?
GeeBee replied to JollySipper's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Years ago in the early 90's I was thinking of a nickname I needed for my email address, couldn't really think of anything, then I was listening to a program on the radio about the BeeGee's, and it was mentioned how they came about their name, which was Barry Gibb's initials with the extra 'e' in between, so I stole the idea, GB is my initials, Geoff Brown, with the extra 'e's stuck in between to get GeeBee, my avatar is just be in Turkey in 2010 -
No, it had the standard 4 speed box with the gearlever on the floor, VWW1 is actually part of the V.W UK heritage collection, it was there when I was working for them back in the early 90's, and this thing it like new, but it does get driven on the road from time to time, they have some pretty nice examples in their collection.

The "X" comes from the Greek letter Chi, which is the first letter of the Greek word Χριστός, translated as "Christ"

I have a tool made by Testors called a burnishing tool, but I also use cuticle sticks, (Have a look in the girlie section in the pharmacy), very usefull though, For final burning I use cotton buds,

Been using Alclad for a while now, and get on with it pretty well, but it took some time to get the chrome finish I wanted using the stuff. For me I find the following the best to get the finish I want, Airbrush with a 0.3 needle, P.S.I set to around 12-15 p.s.i Remove any imperfections from the part to be painted, mold lines, etc, prime with etch primer, then the best gloss black finish you can get, for this I use either Revell or Testors gloss black enamel thinned out with lacquer thinners, then let to dry before starting the Alclad, I find light coats are the way to go, the first coat you won't even see properly, leave to dry for around 30 seconds, and keep going like that until you see the chrome pop, once you have the shine, STOP ! otherwise anymore coats and you'll start to loose the shine. This is the radiator I did for one of my builds, and I'm pretty happy with the results.

Have a look on eBay, I'm just going to order some more, as I've had mine for a few years now, and there starting to wear out http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Set-of-10-Pcs-of-Mounted-Cotton-Buffs-Polishing-Tool-Fit-DREMEL-FOREDOM-/140644233616?pt=UK_Home_Garden_PowerTools_SM&hash=item20bf0cb190 -
Let the Polishing begin !
GeeBee replied to pandamonium2112's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Don't be put off using the Dremel, I use mine, well actually it's a Minicraft, but same kind of thing, just take things easy, and try it first on a scrap body, don't try to get it done on the first go, it takes a few passes ..... here's the fenders on my '32 Imperial, the one on the left hasn't been polished, but the one of the right has just had a couple of passes ... -
Nice work on the Minor and the little MG

ALCLADE II LACQUER..PROS & CONS..
GeeBee replied to Swamp Dog's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I love the stuff ... I use the Chrome, Brass and Aluminium The technique I use it get a good finish on the high shine Alclad's is to get a smooth high shine black basecoat, I either use Revell or Testors black gloss enamel thinned out with lacquer thinners, then put the Alclad on using a 0.3 needle airbrush set to around 15 p.s.i and use the airbrush like a brush and try not to spray it like you would with a regular model paint, it's best to do it in light coats, let them dry in between coats, once you get the high shine, stop putting the Alclad on, otherwise it will start to loose the shine, -
Sorry to hear that, hope things go well for you,
