  1. Vauxhall never actually made Estate cars until much later, these were either converted by Martin Walters (Dormobile) or Grosvenor.
  2. Superb build Al, never knew they were badged as Mercury's, just read up about them, badged as Mercury for the Canadian market
  3. Very nice clean build, takes me back to the 6 years I worked for Volkswagen
  4. Glad to hear your doing well Rich, you'll feel much better without the smokes....
  5. these are currently available from Motobitz here in England, although you don't need to use a Tamiya kit, unless you want to put in a engine. https://motobitz.uk/kits--trans-kits.html
  6. Looking good, you've stirred my interest in getting mine started, just need to clear my bench of other commissioned work....
  7. Looking forward to see what you do with this one, I was lucky as a young child to actually sit in GEN 11
  8. Superb build Mike, I built one many years ago, real nice kit to put together.
  9. Yes there a lot on the inside that needed changing, gearlever, door handles which on the Non Coopers were basically a wire cable you had to pull down to open the door,I also removed the heater, which believe it was still a factory option, under the bonnet, the twin carbs needed converted to single one with a scratch built air cleaner, also the remote gearchange housing needed removing and the exhaust was modified.
  10. I'm not aware of anything that's available for either the Tamiya or Revell Mini's, Scalekraft in South Africa used to do some different bodies, but I've never come across any photo etch detail sets for them. A few years ago I made my own resin 10 inch basic Mini wheels and tyres and a Austin Mini front grille, I also had some photo etch badges made up for the rear boot lid and bonnet badges, I'm no longer have the artwork I designed for them, although I still have a few sets of the wheels and front grille
  11. That's one I've been trying to find this side of the pond without success

    Very nice....
  13. Just had 5 bottles of paint sent over from MCW Lacquer, $27, shipping usually takes around 5 days, sent USPS, so $75 really is extracting the urine.....
  14. Hopefully i'll get the body and body colours parts in clearcoat over the next few days
  15. I started this one last year, but work and a move to London took over my life, (Hopefully we'll get back down there very soon) I got as far as getting the body and body parts ready for primer and ordering the paint from Zero paints, most version of this model I've seen built up have all been the most common colours the GTi came in, Black, Mars red or silver, I decided to go with a totally different colour called Inari silver, which looks more of a metallic light green that a silver, so with the country pretty much on lockdown and all my photography work put on hold, I decided yo make a start on this one, the body was primed using my go to primer, grey plastic primer from Hycote, once it had dried out for a few days, it was lightly sanded and the basecoat applied, this is only second time I have used basecoat paints, the first being the Revell Land Rover i'm also building atm.
  16. Makes it a lot easier and quicker, as you can all the parts that need to be painted the same colour in one go.
  17. No airbrushing today, but I did get all the parts for the Land Rover organised into groups so I can get all the parts painted much quicker
  18. You will need to order some primer before applying the colour coats https://www.automotivetouchup.com/touch_up_primer.aspx

  20. Welcome aboard.....
  21. Thanks Mike, luckily this one isn't for a magazine review, so I'll be building it factory stock, haven't even looked at any photo's of the 1:1, so i'm not sure what colour scheme I'll be going with.
  22. I'll recommend Burbank hobbies, dealt with them many times, great service every time. https://houseofhobbies.com
