Interior looks fantastic!? lots of nice detailing.? -
I’ve been playing around with the front end now. I lengthened the grill shell back to stockish height since I need to move it out in front of the crossmember and lower it anyways and added some mounting pegs. That meant I either had to eliminate the hood or lengthen it…so I lengthened it. Now the hood hid the injector stacks too much, so I made some longer ones and cut some slots in the hood for clearance. Thanks for lookin’.?

Your picture is a bit blurry, but I don’t see any overspray? Are you referring to these spots where maybe the paint leaked under the masking tape? If so, I have used a sharp hobby knife to very very lightly scrape it off. A fine sanding stick may work too with a delicate touch. If it is in fact overspray, then maybe a wet sanding and then polishing would work.

Performance enhancing drugs might be needed for me to achieve some of the fantastic creations I’ve seen here.

For drilling tiny holes from #61-80, my preference is the spring loaded push drill on the right. Micro Mark sells them I believe. For larger holes I like the manual pin vise, or my cordless drill. I have a micro chuck with three collets that I can also mount in my cordless drill or even my drill press.

Best 50’s and 60’s OOB builders?
NOBLNG replied to NOBLNG's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yeah, I should have been more clear. I was actually thinking subject matter rather than date of issue. Newer tooled kits should be better than older kits…but that is certainly not always the case. -
Cool looking Kit Jim!? Is the electric shaver included??

Thanks! I made them from 3/32” aluminum tubing. Here’s a link to the thread where I got the idea. https://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/145256-diy-injection-stacks/#comment-2887962

That is a real looker Steve! I like how the white letter tires accent the paint job.? -
Times tables were something you needed to learn in order to get a passing grade.

Well a couple of other kits have me stymied so I’ve been trying to get some issues ironed out with this one. I’ve finally cobbled together some inner and outer rims that will work with the tires that I want to use (second pic). I also nixed the Hemi and am going with a Boss 429. It’s from the Polar Lights Torino and isn’t really a great version. So I rebuilt it. I used the Chrysler Hemi exhaust manifolds, but corrected the outlet spacing and modified them to link up with my already installed exhaust system. I detailed the valve covers a bit and scratch built a new oil pan. I was debating putting a blower on it, but decided on a custom injection system instead. I was going to use the Weber carbs from an AMT Corvette, but after a short search on here, I realized AMT pulled a fast one and gave us side draft carbs instead of downdraft?…so custom fi system it is!?

Boat load of models are available in two local shops here, but dang…they ain’t cheap anymore.?

There is no shortage of kits that need a little massaging to become somewhat presentable. Some even need total reconstruction or are even beyond hope. But what are the all time best kits for straight OOB builds? Thoughts anyone?

What particular car are you looking for? You might find a picture of the actual liner and downsize it? https://collectorsautosupply.com/carpet-mats/trunk-mats/

Popular Hot Rodding was my favourite magazine as a kid…so I bought a subscription with my allowance.
