looking very nice!

These kits weren't the easiest to work with. The packaging was really nice the actual parts were very nice and crisp though the "top" of the frame required filling with bondo, model putty, scrap pieces of styrene whatever you could use that would fill the gapped area. Parts fit nice it was just such a well laid out kit BUT there were a "lot" of adjustments needed. I especially liked the photo etched pieces for the hood, and the Corvette logo on the right rear corner. If you look very carefully Accurate Miniatures left just enough depth in the etching to add color sharpies for a more realistic look. the tires and engine were great also I just wasn't in the mood at that time to buy another kit to cannibalize. If memory serves me there were 8 different shades ob black underneath the car that I used. Of course this is the Jim Hall /Roger Penske car! Thanks for looking I hope you enjoy!

Hello, Thank you so much for that info on the tires, I had one of the original MODELERS from who knows how long ago hanging around and I LOST one of the headlight covers ( carpet creature?) I was shocked to the see the FUJIMI offering I also lucked out, I bought mine for $66.00 from a Japanese seller, I mean I had to, right?!?! You guys understand right? $66.00 +$17.50 shipping for a headlight cover seems a reasonable price to me, not so much my wife though? As far as the tires, I am going a "little over the top", detailed out of the box/curbside 2-C. I have had this kit for I don't know, maybe 17-18 years. I planned on doing this when I originally bought it, so i started stocking up stuff R & D Unique white metal small block chevy engine, white metal intake, webbers, little and bigs Chaparral white metal wheels, (little rough), resin Firestones also R & D, Fred Cady decals, Parts by Parks intake stacks, so many other "little odds and ends", but you get the idea. I really appreciate every little tidbit of info I can get. I have been away from this hobby since 1999, I need some refreshing. The more I am into this 2-C the more I remember how much of a gas it is researching and scratchbuilding things. My chassis for this will be really plain, (killing me) but at least one thing I am trying to stay true to the aluminum one Jim Hall ran with this car, sans suspension. Tony I am glad you finally saw my post its always nice to pass on info. One of the OTHER things I always liked back in the day. OH I KNOW!!! I have a question anybody know how to do a 4"- 6" (1/24) hole in the brass mesh? I thought maybe a hole punch all it did was stretch and distort the test piece I used. THANKS -

I have good news for you! Amazon has a distributor with 20 of the Fujimi re-pop Modelers 2D kits available for 76.73. Quite a difference from the ones I've been seeing for $175.00 The distributor goes by Great Meister -

This really was going to be a master for the Olivetti cars of, Darin Brassfield, Paul Gentilozzi, Irv Hoerr. I took most of the content down. It just didn't "feel" right to me, maybe a little "ego" slipping in, this is NOT what I am about and I would rather just keep it the way it is. That was then not now I apologize for this to the folks who read my original post. Iput a couple pictures back up, sans rear wing never started that yet. Everything was on my original, though a little sloppy if you ask me. 2 pics of my original effort. Below are the pics of the new prototype. I really did learn a lot from the first build. but like I said above I DO feel funny doing this with all the spectacular works I have seen here, VERY, VERY humbling.

well the information on this version (vs the AMX) is sparse. I got into this real heavy 19-20 years ago and the info highway just kind of dried up! -
one of these days I'll get to this also. Do any of you folks KNOW what engine AMC ran in these, where to get one, firing order, etc., etc., etc. engine is pretty much gone from this I could use some AMC trans am knowledge. Thank You.

IMC CHAPARRAL 2-E
Hooked on Chaparral replied to Hooked on Chaparral's topic in Other Racing: Road Racing, Salt Flat Racers
Thanks sorry about the focus on a couple of those photo's. I remember when I was 12 and seeing pictures of the real deal and that's what stoked my passion for Chaparrals. I am working on the ARII version of the 2-C now and I wanted to do it box stock but that's not happening it's going to be a modified box stock. Lots of new found cuss words came with this build -
Beautiful build, WOW

Rough model to build, great engineering and layout but just about everything needs re-worked. Makes for a fine subject when finished.

Hooked on Chaparral replied to Harpo's topic in Model Cars
WOW!!! THAT is an amazing build especially after 49 years and all the things that have happened in the hobby. Beautiful!! -
I found a few more photos with a bit more detail.
-
well the old was a combination of the revell whistler mustang and the, pardon me for this if i am hazy it's been awhile, one of the monogram nascar olds. after that a LOT of scratchbuilt sections. i actually got a lot of advice from the guys at Rocket Sports on this I have better photo's I have found, with more of the detail I will get around to them today, have to slip away for a bit to take care of some errands. Thank You so much for the compliments.

The Scott Sharp Rain-X Trans Am Camaro, the Darin Brassfield 1993 IMSA Olds Cutlass Supreme, The Penske-Hall Grand Sport Vette< some more shots of the Humpback and some chassis shots of others. Instead of me writing a small booklet and trying to recall all these builds I would suggest if you have any questions fire away and I'll try to answer them the best I can. Thanks for looking

It was a a nasty mad dogs resin body twisted, warped, and very inaccurate thickness to the panels. now that I THINK I know what I'm doing I will dig out the chassis shots and some other tid bits. thank you for the complement. The coo thing about this is the owner had on the prop rod a 3 and below it a 7. when Purchased this grille there was a 3 7 in the sprue of the photo etch.

this is the LAST project I worked on wayyyyyy back there in 1999. First and only street rod I ever built. Replica of an old friend of mine's ride.

Hello folks been away awhile and hopefully I can start making up for lost time.By my title you can see where my mind is at and what I plan to be working on for some time. Gathered up a LOT of old kits, parts, aftermarket stuff in anticipation of this happening one day again. I quit last time due to serious health concerns, actually still fighting it, I have a very rare cancer, Thymoma, it's in check what IAM having a problem with is shingles related neuralgia. PLEASE, if you had chickenpox DO NOT IGNORE the vaccine. I cannot tell you what a toll this pain has taken on me in 5 years, nothing I have ever experienced has been as painful. Okay OFF the soap box ready to get back into the community!
