Snake... I just checked the weekly flyer and that is not listed. Wonder if it is just your store?

Chrome in Sprint Car kits
jchrisf replied to jchrisf's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I'm afraid that is above my skill level right now but thanks for the idea for a future project when I do get better. -
Have you built it yet? I'd love to see it if you have. Tamiya has the best Chrome parts by far.

Chrome in Sprint Car kits

I may have to try the bare metal foil if the paint doesn't work out. I have a sheet that I probably won't need much of since I only have race cars in my collection. Hey kitbash1, what does your signature mean? I have some of the perfect match duplicolor chrome and it looks great but not like real chrome like the Molotow. I've never sprayed the Molotow. However, for aluminum I'm thinking the Duplicolor might pull it off. I don't remember it being very shiny though. I'll have to test it. Does the regular Duplicolor chrome look more acurate than the Perfect Match? -
Nice Jonathan. Is this the Revell Germany kit? I'm surprised it doesn't fit better.

I love it Steve even though I was never a Stewart fan. His car always did look cool. He always seemed like a jerk in the car and in the spotlight but I saw him at the 24 Hours of Daytona back around 2005 standing next to one of my favorite drivers, Jimmy Johnson, and Johnson wouldn't even acknowledge that we were standing there but Tony was very friendly. I also saw Jamie McMurray there and he wasn't very friendly either. I also got to go to the driver meeting and ended up standing right next to Paul Newman.. that was cool.

Chrome in Sprint Car kits

Thank you Doug... What's the best paint for the Wing to replace the Chrome. I would think it should be an Aluminum color... so probably Alclad? -
Yep.. mine looked like milky clear the last time I used it but the first time it just looked satin but it could have been the humidity too. I am curious to see if the Gloss one is any different but I'll be A/Cing the garage before I attempt again.

Great job Pete! Question, your Acrylic Enamel Clear, does it say Gloss on the back? I got some that just says Crystal Clear on the back where the bar code is and it wasn't very glossy. I found another can that looked the same but said Crystal Clear Gloss but haven't tried it yet.

Has anyone heard of The Sales Shack?

This happened to me when I was opening the cars I was searching for in separate tabs so I could keep filtering through their models for sale without missing any. I finally figured out that I would have to stay with the original tab and copy the model name and search for it.. put it in my cart and I think click continue shopping. With all other sites I can just put the item in my cart from a different tab and it will update just fine. Another tip for figuring out your total with shipping before going through the buying process is to add $4 to the price of the model if you are getting a few. One or two will cost about $8 a piece to ship. Otherwise you will have to go and checkout before you can see the shipping cost and if you are on a budget you may have to close out and remove some things from your cart which is a little frustrating but totally worth it IMO because of the product, price and quick shipping. -

Looks great! Very impressive.. I might have to get one of these Snap Kits since the regular kit is so expensive

I've got a few Monogram Sprint car kits and the wings are chrome. It appears that they didn't put those sprues in bags back then and the chrome is a little scratched. Can this be polished out or am I better off stripping it and painting it chrome or aluminum?

Got my order yesterday and I am very impressed with them. The shipment was boxed very well with styrofoam encasing the entire inside of the box and then the empty spaces filled with bubble wrap. The model car boxes were all in great shape and factory sealed. The Williams F1 car was actually the only open box I ordered and it appears that everything is in the box (I know they don't guarantee that) and on the sprues except the wheels which have been assembled with the tires, but that is not a problem for me. It took a full week to get to my door in Florida which is not bad considering it was coming from the other side of the country.
