  1. FUBARED the FUBARING Paint FUBARING job! Well, I hope it is not beyond repair... remind me to not take on such a complicated paint job on future builds FML! Now I have to fix this, otherwise I would be applying decals right now. FUBAR!!!
  2. No, it didn't soften the paint. It just would not put any chrome on the paint.. as though my pen was out of chrome, but it was not. Actually, I did not use the Duplicolor Acrylic Enamel Gloss white as I first noted. I just check the can and it is Duplicolor Acrylic Lacquer gloss white. Sorry for any confusion. Also, I waited several days after painting before trying to apply the Molotow so the paint was definitely dry.
  3. Another very nice one Dann! Looks awesome!
  4. Cool build.. I just saw Tom over at The Scalemodeling Channel do one of these a couple of weeks ago. Looking forward to seeing yours
  5. As usual, everything looks perfect!
  6. I'll be following this one.. going to be a great build!
  7. I tried to use my Pens over Duplicolor Acrylic Enamel gloss white the other day and I thought my pens had run out of paint because the chrome would not stick. Tried them on bare plastic and they worked fine, so, I stripped the paint off and used them on the bare white plastic instead and they worked fine. I don't know what the problem was but that is the first time I have experienced a problem with them.
  8. Very nice.. I love them both. You must have been a great builder before you stopped because your builds look perfect.
  9. Thanks Dann! I appreciate it!
  10. I just wanted to get some pics of the completed chassis before I get started on finishing up the body and wing. There is not much to the chassis as you can see and the wing is not glued on so it is hanging at a wierd angle. The nice rotors don't even show through the wheels so I wasted my Molotow chrome on those.
  11. I was just being funny (I thought I was) Dann... A ricer wing LOL
  12. Very nice! BTW, what are the holes in the trunk lid for? You gonna add a ricer wing?
  13. Thanks Justin.. that is good to hear in general and from a hobby shop owner like you!
  14. Thanks Dann! I'm going to give this a try on my next build. Just got the Filler Primer and the Perfect Match Clear. I'll be trying the clear on my current build, hopefully soon.
  15. Yeah, me too.. these prototype cars are my favorites. I'd love to have a street legal version of this car. I think I remember you did one of these prototypes recently (a Porsche?) that looked awesome?
  16. Dann, how would you describe a light coat? Are your 4 color and clear coats also light like you do the filler coats? Thanks!
  17. Welcome Justin! What neat things are happening right now? Being a hobby shop owner I'm sure you have a better look and insight than I.
  18. Two models who were best known back then for Victoria Secret. Elaine Irwin and Stephanie Seymour. Elaine married John Cougar Melancamp (now divorced) and Stephanie married Axl Rose (now divorced but then married a billionaire).
  19. Thanks Dann.. I'd have never figured this out without you telling me.. I am going out tomorrow and get some of the clear and Filler Primer!
  20. Looks great.. but what do you expect when you have a great teacher
  21. I'll have to keep my eye out for some of these.
  22. Very nice.. how do these old Monogram kits build?
  23. Ok.. so the same seats again.. cool. Which Duplicolor clear do you use? They carry three different Duplicolor clears at my parts store. I always manage to get crazing when I use Duplicolor's sandable primer and you don't even have to polish.. I'm doing something wrong.
  24. Thanks Ich_Will and Davewilly! I'm looking forward to starting my first Sprint Car when this one is done. This would be a really easy kit to build except for the complicated color scheme of this particular kit and the several different pieces of the body. I am not sure why they didn't just make the body one piece? But I've had a lot of work getting rid of the weld lines where I glued the pieces together. I got the chassis complete last night. Now I just have to do a little sanding on the primer and get the body painted and cleared. The instrument panel actually attaches to the body so it is not in the pics but the rest of the simple cockpit is done. Unfortunately the rotors I chromed aren't even visible after they were installed. I also put some dullcoat on the tires.
  25. Nice Dann! What is your secret to the seats again? I can't remember, do you spray Duplicolor from the can on the body? What clear coat? Just amazing work as always!
