  1. I found the Acrylic Lacquer Mike.. is that the one you meant? I haven't used the blacks yet but did use the white and it doesn't cover well and bubbles up. What is a good white? The Duplicolor Acrylic Enamel flat black is really nice. It dries fast and looks great but is a little fragile because it scratches and chips easy on a chassis.
  2. Wow John.. you are a superior builder!
  3. That is some nice, clean work!
  4. Wow John.. this looks really good. Can't wait to see it finished. You sure know how to put a showroom finish on a paint job! I'm going to read back through there again and see if you reveal any secrets.
  5. LOL.. I meant for the same can of Rustoleum Dann. Dann, what do you use for flat, gloss and semi-gloss black and white? The Duplicolor I have from the Auto Parts store only had flat and gloss black and it was Acrylic Enamel. Goes on nice and dries fast but I'm always afraid a lacquer on or around it will hurt it. I have some Rustoleum Maxx satin black that I also got at the auto parts store since they didn't have a satin Duplicolor and it looks really nice but it goes on thick as you described and takes a few days to completely dry.
  6. They look dead on to me so I was hoping it was a certain color I could pick up myself.
  7. very impressive Bill! What colors did you use?
  8. Very cool Jeff... I look forward to seeing your other Petty builds. I hope they are cheap. I have the AMT '83 Grand Prix and was wanting another one but when I looked on eBay they were selling for upwards of $80. There is not even much to that kit
  9. Yeah.. I think Advanced Auto wanted $8 a can whereas the Home Depot a block away only wants $4. Crazy.
  10. That looks awesome Bruce... someday I hope to do all the different #43 kits that have been made without paying an arm and a leg to get them.
  11. IMO Richard Petty's cars were the most iconic looking in NASCAR. I also believe it is one of the nicest looking color schemes. If you have built a Richard Petty NASCAR please post a picture.
  12. Hawk above has gotten some fantastic results with Rustoleum Painters Touch. I saw the Painters Touch at Home Depot the other day.. and may have to try it. I had never heard of that formula before but if I can get the results Hawk got out of a $4 can I will be sold.
  13. I noticed that too about Rustoleum.. It really soaks the part but I've never had a run. I've also noticed it stays sticky for a few days. Is Krylon enamel?
  14. I got a better pic of it but still not showing how good it really looks.
  15. Two more nice ones Johnny!
  16. Great job.. that looks awesome!
  17. That looks great.. I love it! I have one of these I look forward to doing.
  18. It looks a lot better in person than the camera will show. It is a lot more reflective in person. And that was just one coat.. you don't even have to prime.
  19. Thanks.. I hope it works! Here is Duplicolor Perfect Match Universal Chrome. It would make a nice, shiny silver. It actually looks really good but not nearly as mirror like as Molotow. I can't get the camera to capture how it looks to my eyes. The regular Duplicolor Chrome doesn't look nearly as good.
  20. Thanks for the follow up Bugman... I like the look of the Molotow better too. Hopefully the competition will figure something out soon and the price will come down.
  21. Nice! So, isn't the Rustoleum enamel? And you were able to put a lacquer clear over it? Good job!
  22. Great tip! Thanks!
  23. That stinks Will.. I definitely know the feeling.
  24. Great job Mark!
