Any FoMoCo VIN decoders?
jokar124 replied to Falcon Ranchero's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have been wondering about the number "2" stamped between the "TRIM" and "ENGINE" spots on your data plate which doesn't seem to be addressed by the charts above, but I remember reading somewhere about factory built 63 Ford Taxicabs with 2 tone gray/dark gray vinyl interiors and a slightly different version of the 223-6 cylinder engine. Does your car in fact have the red interior as listed or could it be a taxi model? -

Any FoMoCo VIN decoders?
jokar124 replied to Falcon Ranchero's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It might be a long shot now, but as of at least the year 2003, the Ford of Canada Oakville Assembly Plant operated a company archives that was accessible to the public and likely would have had build date information on hand. The archivist at that time was Sandra Notarianni. Try giving the offices of the plant a call. -

If you are not determined to scratch-build one yourself you can just look for the model kit once made by MRC: -

Old Hudson Minitures wood kits
jokar124 replied to Craig Irwin's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The primarily wood Old Timers kits by Hudson Miniatures were 1/16 scale, which was more often described at the time as 3/4 inch to-the-foot scale. The later, all-plastic Lil' Old Timers kits by Hudson Miniatures were 1/32 scale ( 3/8 inch to-the-foot scale ). -

What would YOU like to see as a model
jokar124 replied to JeroenM3's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Not exactly a Town car, but you might consider the 1932 Rolls-Royce Sedanca II coupe made by Pocher in 1/8 scale: -
1:32 Hornby Starter Kit T400r
jokar124 replied to Smilesperhour's topic in WIP: Other Racing: Road Racing, Land Speed Racers
I don't recall these models ever being available as Airfix kits either. I believe this line of Hornby models was based on Scalextric slot car body molds. -

The hydrogen peroxide soaking technique for removal of plastic yellowing is often used by promo model and HO slot car collectors, and is often discussed in their Facebook Groups. Most of the time, chrome plating is adversely affected or completely removed. Painted areas are usually safe, but not always. Use at your own risk. It's best to disassemble the model and soak only the solid color and clear plastic bits.

Sorry to say, but don't expect the best quality from this vendor, Bruce and Steve. The seller is infamous decal pirate Jim Heller, operating under his "transgendered" alias "teresawulf". Jim is well-known in model circles for cheap, inkjet copies of other decal makers' work. In this case, the decal you ordered is a de-contented version of Fred Cady's sheet #25 for '69 Camaros. Fred's decal was silk-screened and provided white stripes and backgrounds where needed and silver emblems for the body as shown below. You won't be getting that on your sheet, Bruce, but hopefully what you do get will be usable. (Picture below is from the Mike's Decals website)
