Anyone need a 300hp Motorcycle?
CAL replied to CAL's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Don't know if it is the exact same one but it looks like that, same colors. And comes with the long tank and single seat. Seriously I dont think for a second I'd sell it here, but it was an unusual piece. More of a talking point. Like the original 68 500 KR Shelby, the Lamborghini Gallardo, Ferrari 360 Modena, Ferrari 275 GTB concourse Platinum winner, Ducati 900 and other oddities I have come across. If it exotic rare and expensive, particularly Italian I have had one have one know where to get one or will find one - another one of my hobbies. -
yeah, I have been slackmastering

Manufacturer - S+S Performance, Stanstead Abbots, Ware, UK. Model - Silver Saxon Year of Manufacture - 1979 Production run - 9 Production number - Prototype/development bike 1 1979 Rickman CR frame, 1975 Kawasaki Z1B based engine, unique Rajay 'race' turbocharger kit. Built by the UK tuning company S+S Performance in 1976, this unique prototype/development bike was then stripped and housed in a 1979 fame, before selling it to the UK heavy metal rock band 'Saxon', just before S+S called in the receivers after going bankrupt. This bike has been sympathetically restored over 18 months, and registered for the very first time in early 2008 on an age related plate (certificate to prove). I have original paperwork from S+S Performance, and full authentication by Mike Cazalet and Russell Savory, ex-Directors of S+S. This is a genuine production bike and is thought to be the only remaining example in the world. Since its first showing to the public in 2008, it has won a raft of trophies and rosettes, been in multiple newspapers and magazines, and turns heads wherever it goes. Output from the 1105cc engine is around 185bhp @ 9psi (standard road use), 225bhp @ 13psi (fast road use) and 300+ bhp @ 25psi (Avgas fuel). It will be sold with both single and dual seat bodywork, so you will get long tank and cover + single seat, then for a pillion you'll also get the short tank and cover + dual seat. Condition is A1, it has more history than you could shake a stick at, and it's more rare than a 1972 Kawasaki Z1 ! pix pending

That was ford thing that most of the were like that.

I think I vaugely remember that from my stint in the engine shop. The W was close to a brilliant motor, but had some issues. Needed more nickel content 4 bolt main block, better oil system and a wider bearings and it would have been better than a SBS, notwithstanding it was a lot lighter, it had a lot more room inside for a stroker shaft, and a small chamber that could make gobs of compression. Mine came out to 13.75:1 with out even trying. I could have easily gone to 15 16:1 and run alky if the block wouldn't have split in half.
-
I guess maybe we are talking about the same thing. Which was also my point, is you cannot confuse one for the other.
-
I think I proved my point. The dist is cast into both blocks the C has that additional housing casted around the timing gears and chain and the W has a seperate cover.
-
They both have the dist whole in the block.

I know the Ford SB quite well I built a 710HP 380CID SBF.
-
I think that is the other way around the 351C M and 400M it was casted in the block. The W was a seperate housing.
-
A lot of difference, which has been already gone over. There is a very noticable width difference. The cylinder head is complete different both dimentionally and shape. Rock covers are a different pattern and the tops are different. The front is different including eh water pump and housings, the C is casted as part of the block, the W is an aluminum cover. The cooling is different IE the T-stat is in a completely different location one is on the block and the other on the manifold. So all the hoses are different and in a different local. Fuel Pump is on opposite sides. Anyone with even a modest knowledge of Ford would see the differences even scaled down in a model.

What Is The Correct Engine Colour For A 540K ?
CAL replied to Junkman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That is what I was thinking too. It was WWII. In any event, there was a recently discovered 500K series car found in a private collection it is supposed to be the most original one in the world. I will try and find that stuff again. Also, this engine was used in a number of other vehicles. FWIW. -
What Is The Correct Engine Colour For A 540K ?
CAL replied to Junkman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Every one I have seen has been black. A W29 was a 500K A W24 was a 540K A lot of these were custom and or specailly built per customer requests. -
It's complicated
-
Yeah, I seen that before, that's awesome. Yeah dude ya popped a tire, that roof will buff out. I wonder exactly how he explained that to his insurance company? There was this um yeah fly in the middle or the road and swerved to miss him and I think a tire popped. Further proof there is no shortage of morons in the world.
-
That is what I do too.
-
Still had lots of tread so that is what I suspect: exceeding the speed rating.
-
-
Actually they don't recommend the X pattern any more, they do recommend a modified X. The drive tires stay on the same side and the free axle gets crossed. There are still a lot of people who strickly follow not changing the direction rule.
-
A good tire shop around here wont even mount and balance a tire more than 5 years old any more. Too much liability. I can't stress the importance of tires enough. It is the only thing between you and the road, and an accident, stopping in time to miss a child, and so on, especailly when it is wet out or worse. It's not the tread that is most important, while it helps push water out from under the contact area it offers zero traction benefits it is all in the compound. Tires is not a place to get cheap on. You don't have to spend a fortune on tires, you just need to get good tires.
-
Which means you buy little round rubber things and not tires.
-
For non directional radial tires. They are not directional until you use them in a certian direction for some time, then they are directional. The cords set in that direction and if you reverse it you can have seperation.

That particular LT-1 would have been the Corvette 350CID 350hp found in the Z-28 and Trans Am only.
