Correct, the domestic manufacturers used great liberties with Liter designations. I know Ford used 5.8 as not to be confused with Chevy's 5.7. The Europeans and Asians do it right and calc cubic centimeters and round to 1 decimal to designate their engines in Liters. The 302 was before this really became an issue but I believe Chevy did call their 305 a 5.0 Liter. Which was more correct than Ford calling their 302 a 5.0L.

That would be a Gen 2 LT-1 because the LT-1 goes back to 1970s H.O. 350 motor. Yes, a little harder to follow was corvettes which a Z06 was a hopped up C6 (Corvette 6th Gen) which could have an LS-7 or an LS-3 and the ZR1 had the LS-9
-
Exactly IE 225/45/R15?
-
5.7 = 348 6.1 = 372 5.0 = 305 1 liter = 61.0237 CI.

Okay, but you still don't know what direction it was run. If it was run before then you are probably okay on that tire till you get some new tires, because you still don't know if the other tires are all going in the proper direction - it could happen again. Is the tires now all the same size? You probably really don't want to run a miss-matched pair especailly on the front.
-
so you have all more chances you have one more or three more going the wrong direction from what they previously ran, so it wasn't a belt seperation per-say but sidewall cords either flat failed or delaminated - most likely.
-
was it square IE all four the same size? Probably got one or both or all them on the wrong side and reversed the rotation of the tire. A radial will ware in and the belts will stretch in a certain direction sometimes, especially with little round rubber things when you reverse the direction it will unravel the tire essentially, which is what it kind of sounds like happened because that is where it’s the thinnest, the most directional (rotational) structure is, and the fewest number of cords that hold the tire together – the sidewall. If you don't know what direction the tires were run previously, or how they were stored you probably just want to scrap them all for a new set of TIRES and not little round rubber things. Because you have MayPops, and another may pop at any time.
-
Where they new, old, what is the story? If they were used, did they get on the same side of the car? or if the mounted on new rims were the mounted same side out and the put on the car the same side as previously run. You can't reverse the rotation of a radial tire once it's been run in one direction. If they were little round rubber things versus a real tire could make a big difference too. How old were they, how were they stored? For something that seems simple a tire is a very complicated thing and it is the only thing between you and the road so the tires are the most important thing to pay close attention to.

I remember that car, I have seen Lee Shepherd run that car before he was killed in it. -

pretty much. let them blow themselves up. -
A MayPop brand maybe? may pop at any time. Little round rubber things? or a tire? Seperation? Reverse rotation? Broken belt? Road Hazard? Or mystical gremlins?

I agree, the number of views are reflective of people going in just to see what you are exactly after. -

I, too, very rarely look there myself. I happen to have this kit, with a PE detail set, however, I do plan on building it. I am not too big on trading either because I have bought ever kit in my collection for a specific reason so I will either build it or sell it, but very unlikely I would trade for it. For me it seems like a lot of work, package, shipping, waiting, the uncertianty, for net even trade, minus the work, package, shipping and if something happens. Not interested. Sorry. If it was local and we could do it on the spot and you really had something I wanted much more than this Corvette, because honestly, I am only moderately interested in it, I would condsider trading. -

I have seen some pictures in an Ohio recovery yard of a woman that pulled out in front of a big rig going 70 and she was ground down on the pavement for 260 feet all that was left was a leg. I don't remember the road but it was said to be one of the most dangerous in the states. -

Oh yeah, I have been in an GMC 9000? cabover past 100 with a full load of chocolate from NY. Wasn't a pretty truck but it sure did get a moving. Although that guy was all there. He had some DL problems log book problems suspended from the company and was supposed to return the truck. He also has someone else broken trailer, which he dumped off in a truck stop, picked up an unauthorized load and headed out. He kind of played independant with another companies truck for a few weeks before he got another gig, somehow, with another company. Nicer newer trucks but the really put the clamps on with a governor and pre calc all the routes. It wasn't as much fun anymore. -

Yeah, I have had pretty good luck with a flat base and future over top. -
Yup, that is what I undstood too, it was the smallest scale that would except a motorized gearbox at that time.
-
That would be awesome to see some of those kits. I'd buy, but probably only in 1.24 scale.

How could you forget. Mine was a Airfix Gulf 1/32 917.

It’s a miracle I even can get to work with all these Toyotas on the road.

It burnned up. Not really sure but it was some kind of catastrophic failure, they kept saying engine, it had a noise for a long time that got really loud right before going into fireball mode. But apperently it was still running while on fire, because Scott said he was going to try and make it back to the pits, but said, "Then it would have really been burt up." So he just looked for the first guy with a fire extingusher. Never did find out what exactly it was.

Ferrari's are much better than they were, and they were almost always good at the track if they were a factory team. The only other people that had success with them until recently was Pro Drive. Cracked cylinder head that earily on. Sounds like the same problem many of their recent street cars have.
