Yeah, well I am considering it, since I am now looking at machines that are coming within a hundred bucks or so of a Sherline. It looks so fragile and spindly though... I guess I need more time to figure it out. I am looking at Shop Fox and Paxton as well.

I wouldn't either, we have local too, and I have checked out both their mill and lathe and it seems like are good enough for anything I would ever need to do. Some minature machine guys have done a review on it and they really didn't have anything bad to say about. A few minor problems that were easily overcome or fixed. The bottom line it was a hard machine to beat for the money.

Yes, I got line and another and another and another. That is kind what I have been trying to convience myself of: there was some reason it all went down like this. But It looks like I will get the same machine but it's going to cost a lot more. or a differnet machine that is also a lot more. I am not doing anything heavy duty, most just plastic so I don't need an top of the line expensive machine. Oh well, I am mad about how they handled to whole situation.

I agree, but I kind check anything out pretty well before buy their stuff so far the stuff I had bought has been fine. Again it wasn't the machine it was HF that was the problem.

spray booth explosion
CAL replied to Bowtienutz's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The odds cannot be real good that you'll blow yourself up twice in your lifetime. Since I have already blew myself up once with something else - stupid. I think my odd have greatly decreased it wont happen - again. So I think I am safe too. -
I have long and hard. I also read up on as much as I could. The conclusion was the HF mill was pretty good with a little work for the money. The tool isn't the problem HF is. I found another, looks just like the Jet machine, less money, but much more than the HF machine. Apperently the same machine is sold under a dozen different names. The HF machine just doen't exsist and it took two weeks to get a honest answer out of them.

spray booth explosion

I use a bathroom fan too, but they are not explosion proof certified. You'd have to get a XP certified motor. I have not been able to find an XP Cert bathroom fan, or any fan assmebly small enough for my booth. All the certified units are huge 12" and up and are starting at $500 + for a certified unit. But then technically you should have all explosion proof lighing, wiring, switchs and a static mat oh and probably a suit and resp, and an equally protected cleaning station. -
believe you me I trying to return that little favor. There is a bajillion parts in that box and now I can only see out of one eye.

Looks like the end is near for USF1
CAL replied to CAL's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Actually it was USF1 who tried to used recycled pee for fuel. Turns out they didn't have a pot to piss in. -
I got a Holy Grail! Seriously thought I would never see this one. It even came with some extra goodies. I guess that kind of makes up for my Mill that is on infinite back order supposedly.

Looks like the end is near for USF1

I don't believe that. They are not the same people. That doesn't explain the Glenn doing FIA improvements, which can only suggest a US Grand Prix at the Glenn in the future. -
Some key players have resigned. Their primary sponcer has left the negotiation table and is talking with another team. P. Windsor said they couldn't build a car in time to meet deadlines. I suspect something didn't go well during crash testing which was only being done this week, while the rest of the grid is on their 3rd test session. It has been confirmed that the USF1 facility in NC has been put up for sale. Several reports are coming out that they will not make the grid for the first race which would be in violation of their concord aggerment with FIA & F1. It is said it's only a matter of time now that USF1 has officially folded. At any rate it is not looking good for them with 3 weeks to go before the first race.

Agreed, I never brought a model back to the same contest again either, however, I don't have a problem with someone who wants to bring the same model again and again.
-
Awesome build of a beautiful car. Probably the best looking LMP1 car ever, and you did a fantastic job with it.
-
Yes, the only rule I have come across on this is past winning models at the same contest can be displayed but not participate in the contest. I don't have a problem with it.

Fooled ya.... Actually the real car was a 956. The kit is a 962 with 956 markings. There is a difference, mainly the distance from the front wheel opening to the door is long or short. The 956 was short until the IMSA rule changed the front wheel center line to extend infront of the drivers feet. Surpisingly to IMSA's astonishment, they simply lengthened the wheel base. Still looks good. It's one of the best 956 liveries.

I don't know why it didn't fly, the stock version is really a pretty nice kit, the ProShop kit was a cut above, the Street Machine just didn't make a whole lot of sense. Looks good. I did my in the same color or close. Boyd Burnt Orange.

They did a SWB California. I think the 250 was Italeri. Here is the Series I 250 Database. http://www.italianhorses.net/DB/250%20Series.htm#250 GTO Series I
