B.R.B.O. 2019 Mack DM600 #3
RipVan replied to RipVan's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I have decided to withdraw from the competition. Recently got interested in military heavy transportation and M-ATV's & I have more space at home for 1/35. Good luck to the rest of you - especially those DM600s. Steve -

Amazon has this Revell Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Plastic Model Kit for $47.95. Maybe the one on eBay is an earlier release. -

I'm familiar with Spaulding - one of the only companies that Howard allows to sell his KFS stuff. I think they mark it up way too much. -

That looks perfect. Closest I could find was .039 PTFE wire, but it's stranded and I'm not sure yet if it will hold the coil. -

Howard sold the rights to the Holmes 750 to Moluminum Model Truck parts in Louisville, Ohio. Jamie says he is "hoping to get them into production in the next month or so". Stay tuned to https://www.facebook.com/groups/549796202068173/ and http://www.moluminum.com/ -

My brother-in-law drives a Volvo for Airgas. He says their tankers also have no landing gear - supposedly to save weight used to haul more product. If they ever drop a tanker they have to have a special dolly available to hold up the front end. -
They take PayPal now. From the web site: "PayPal;- We are able to accept PayPal. Contact us by e mail with your requirements (order parts list) & your full shipping address. We will work out your total including any export vat discount, shipping, charges & send you a reply. All PayPal orders are sent by Recorded or Tracked Air regardless of value. Bear in mind this can be expensive on small light orders."

Be a nice reason to get that TQ14 Hiab truck mounted pivot crane from Kit Form Services. I have my eye on it myself. -
I am going to try 26 gauge PTFE (teflon) stranded wire for suzie coils. The outside diameter is .039 inches which would be .975 at 1/25 - very close to the full sized 7/8 air hoses I have seen offered online. It may not hold as tight a coil but should be more easily stretched to connect to a trailer. The problem with most types of wire is that it has the same outside diameter regardless of the gauge of the conductor inside.

I am also building the Mack DM600. Not committing to the lowboy or bulldozer yet. Shrink wrap on all three still intact so far. -

The back issues of Truck Model World are sold by date, not by issue number. I can find no reference as to when issues 150,151 & 152 were published. -

Do you have the dates for these volume numbers? Back issues online don't list by volume. -

Sorry, wrong gauge chart. 24 gauge wire is .0201 times 25 = .5025. Workable. -
The volume worked fine for me, but he DOES seem to be a dufus. He doesn't discover the missing parts until getting mostly through the build.

I was thinking something like solid core hook-up wire to hold the twist of the susie coils. 24AWG is .025 inches times 25 is .625 inches. Slightly over scale for a half-inch air hose and I'm not sure how thick the insulation is. Also considering hex cut seed beads to simulate air hose fittings. My brother-in-law owns a rubber shop near Akron, OH (where else?) where they extrude Viton tubing. He's going to show me some scrap samples.
