A while back , another modeler started a thread on this kit. It caught my interest for two reasons. It was 1/20 scale and it was Ayrton Senna. Found one on Ebay , ordered it, and started it right away. I finally got around to finishing mine but don't know if the other guy did. Fun little project that occupied more of my time than I though it would. Rest of the story is in the picture captions. thanks for looking and as always, comments welcome. First thing I did was cut the steering away and make new from brass. Non working steering is a pet peeve of mine and since this was all exposed it had to look right and work. A little more work than i thought it would be but fun just the same. As long as the wheels steered might was well make Ayrton look like he is doing something besides hanging on. Torso and right arm has to be modified and head glued on at an angle to look as if he is going around a corner in a drift. Aaaahhh...much better. Rear view shows a little more detail on the sponsor blouse. This did not come in the kit and was made with paper towel and white glue. Decals came out of the stash. I added a few extra details like the spark plug wire and brake hose. Yellow stripes were hand painted. Tried yellow tape and decal but it just didn't follow the contours like paint. White strips on shoes are decals. Ayrton Senna was World Champion in 1980 but this is actually his 1981 kart. He only raced it a few times as the regulations changed and by then he was on to bigger and faster things anyway.

Tom...I have that kit and just looked at it. As a general rule resin kits are fairly simple and are usually curbside with little or no suspension detail. Most of the detail is devoted to the interior and body. This particular kit is a little more complicated than most. I would probably recommend something a lot simplier to begin with. But..it is still do-able if you are an experienced modeler. Just bear in mind the materials are different than what you are used to. To start you must clean up ALL the resin parts paying particular attention to the body. If it doens't look like it belongs cut,or sand or grind it off. Note if you use a moto tool on resin wear eye protection and a mask. This is no joke. Resin dust doesn't degrade in the lungs, and its toxic. Doesn't feel any better in the eyes either. Resin must be washed ( I scrub it with scouring powder and a toothbrush) and then primed before painting. The primer will show imperfections, which have to be fixed then primed again. Use a sanding primer and shine it up before painting. This really helps to get a good shine on the final coats. Test fit ALL your parts and pay a lot of attention to how the body and chassis sit on the wheels. Resin kits are far from perfect so plan carefully and check fit everything. Don't hesitate to replace delicate resin parts with metal or styrene. And have fun. The kit you have is one of his best with very detailed instructions and decals for two versions. Hope this helps.

As per request by my good friend Gary (gramps46) Here are all the Fisher resin kits I have completed in the last 15 years. These kits are what got me started on resin kits. I had always been intimidated by resin. Seen plenty of them done but didn't think I had the skill myself. Once I did my first one there was no stopping me. Fisher kits appealed to me because of the subject matter and the price...at the time $85. I have since gone ouit of my way to aquire all the ones I like. Still in the works: Chaparral 2E, Matra MS670, Porshe 917-30, 1971 Gulg Porsche Langneck, 1958 Porsche RSK, Cunningham C4R. Below is my collection in chronological order. Comments welcome. My first resin kit completion. Chaparral 2F cone 4/28/07. Color Tamiya TS7 racing white. This build has won several awards, This one really appealed to me because of the shape of the car. I still consider it one of the most beautiful Can-Am cars ever. Car is a Ferrari 312P and the color is Tamiya TS49. Completed 9/3/08 I have been up close and personal with the real car so having a model of it was a necessity. The Sunoco Ferrari of Mark Donohue in 1971. Color was Testors 1111 blue. Lots of photo etch and detail. What really got me about this kit was the aluminum tub had the wrinkles molded in. Don't usually see this kind of detail in resin. Finished 4/28l10 The other half of my Ferrari 312P set. The berlinetta. Also done is Tamiya TS49. I left the nose winglets off because I though it ruined the lines of the car. Finished 6/25/19. Bougth this kit off Ebay from a German seller who was going to convert it to a slot car body but gave up. This kit went from Calif to Long Island NY to Germany and then back to Penna. It has a lot of miles on it. Color is Mr Color 109 Character yellow. This kit fairly flew together and turned well too. Completed 7/3/19 Probably the last car kit Fisher released. 1966/67 Ferrari 365 P2. This car was campained by NART and was nicknamed the white elephant. Not the prettiest Ferrari ever but still worthy of the collection. Color is Tamiya TS26 White with Testors 1111 blue accents. Lots of PE and other details added. Completed 8/7/19 Another Ferrari 512, rthis one a M. Color is Mr color #327, a slightly darker red but period correct. Lots of great detail on this one. Done 8/27/19 I was vbery excited to aquire this since I am a big Donohue fan. Came at a good price and had to build it right away, Very similar to the other Mclaren but this one didn't go as easy as that one. Decals were my biggest complaint. Color is a custom mix of Tamiya TS15 and TS55. Many extras were added. Done 6/27/21. Ooops got this one out of order. It was done 9/2/19. Another Ferrari 512 this one an S version. This car was raced by a Belgian team and hence the yellow color. Didja know that yellow is actually Ferrari's racing color. That is why the background of the logo is yellow. This color was custom mixed from several Tamiya yellows. It was my best guess. Last Fisher resin completed and this one was 8/8/21. It was featured on this forum at that time. D-Type Jaguar painted Tamiya TS43 BRG. Long as I have them all out of the case might as well take a picture of the whole tribe. You might notice on all the pictures the wheels steer on my Fisher kits. Since he uses the same basic layout for his wheels and tires it was a fairly easy conversion. And once you do one, the rest are easy. Hope you liked this tribute to Paul Fisher. These are great kits of great cars. This hobby will miss him.

Funny you should mention the Jorgensen resin kit. I have one but never dug into it that much. The suspension pieces were so flimsy that they probably would never have supported the weight of the body...which was one solid hunk of resin. But now that I am have more experience...hmmmmmm -

Beautiful model and the workmanship is excellent. Can tell you did your homework on this one. But not much info on your post. Tell us more. Paint choice, references and extras you did. I have made two attempts at this kit and both are in the junkyard. I have two more kits and would like to do one at least as nice as yours. -
Beware of Paasche jar vent holes!
Rich Chernosky replied to BringHomeTheBacon's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I glued the washer in place with the holes lined up . The Paasche H has been my "go to" for that last 25yrs. -
Just completed. Platz NuNu 1/24 version of the Audi R8 LMS GT3 that won Nurburgring 24 hour race in May 2015. Color is Gravity GC-227B Mclaren F-1 chrome with Tamiya X-22 clear. This was done over a black base and the color is more silver than chrome. I also purchased the upgrade kit with this and that i9ncluded the photo etch, carbon fibre decals and antenna base. While the kit is mostly curbside there is a lot of detail in this build. Kit went together with no fit issues. More info in the picture captions. Thanks for looking and comment welcome. Completed chassis before the body went on. Most of this detail will be hidden. Interior received lots of attention and a few details were added. The v-10 engine, such that it is. Some PE clamps ,paint and those chrome decals which I really like. Top view of the cockpit. The netting was off the PE fret. The seatbelts (included) used about 20 pieces of photo etch but were almost impossible to photograph. Finally finished and on its wheels. The decal sheets included two different versions of the car (the other was all red) and sorting through the sheets was time consuming. Even this version had a lot of decals. Normally I enjoy a good decal challenge and this one certainly fit the bill. Rear view show the tremendous amount of detail NuNu put into this kit. The photo etch wing supports were a challenge all by itself but in the end looked so much better than the kit plastic thingies. This car sits low. Front wheels steer but barely. Don't often take this shot but there was a lot of detail to be seen . The front hood air extractor took a lot of decals and a lot of patience but turned out well.

Welcome to the forum Eric. You really should build more. This one and the other two I commented on are excellent builds. We have similar tastes. -

Pretty neat builds Eric. The Tic Tac looks like it might have been decal challenge. It turned out great by the way. -
Helmut...my first encounter with a resin kit was also Paul Fisher. I still have my spyder and berlinetta version of this car in my case. They are two of my favorite Ferrari builds. Your builds are great by the way. Sorry you didn't get to keep those. I see them on Ebay every now and then so if you want to re-visit them its a possibility. Thanks for sharing.
