What Kits Were Molded in Green?
Claude Thibodeau replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
HI! Just bought this kit, molded in bright yellow. Some flash here and there, but nothing too serious. Of course, Revell's Thames drag panel was molded in metallic green for the original release, and still is in a later reissue I bought lately. CT -

Hi Kerry! Thanks for the video, very instructive! CT -
Hi Trent! The stance is absolutely perfect, great engine bay! Bravo! CT

Hi Bill! Wow, truly world class, bravo! The level of detail and the surface finishes are impressive. CT

Hi Jim! Interesting recycling work. I remember Chip Foose had a late 30's rod coach-built at Boyd's before they split, and the front suspension was akin to a Ford PU "Twin I-Beam" system, except each said I-beam was indeed triangular and flat, made of billet aluminium, narrow at the wheel spindle, and wide at the junction with the body, not unlike your current shape. The shocks were severely canted, and mounted INSIDE the body, therefore not visible. You may be able to serach that on the web, and see some pictures. The car was of a copperish hue. I think it was owned by a gentleman from Plains, NY, who also later bought and repainted the yellow 32 Boydster in black, under Mr Foose supervision. Just my two cents... CT

Hi Mike! Oh, I see. Some kind of absolute certainty that the whole enchilada will definetely end up with the stance you engineered in. Brilliant! CT -
Hi Mark! Welcome aboard. I know for a fact that you will enjoy it! CT

Nostalgic 70 Johan Challenger Funny-Car trip
Claude Thibodeau replied to Claude Thibodeau's topic in Drag Racing
Thank you Mike! The more time I spend on this forum, the more I get what receives the more attention. It seems that the DRAG CARS category is not the most favored by a maximum of visitors. Therefore, a new post sometimes linger before any reaction shows up. Besides, there is so much styrene to modify, glue and paint... We can't be all over all the time... CT -
Nostalgic 70 Johan Challenger Funny-Car trip

Hi Al! I CAN relate to that... LOL. Thanks for the comments. CT -
Hi Jay! In real life, this thing would be a serious "heavy weight". Great car. I have a friend who has a high-end stereo shop, and he used a 70's Caddy hearse as a "demo car" at shows and events. The thing was so heavy, he kept twisting rear ends out of shape whenever he tried to drive more than a few miles from the shop. Luckily for us, styrene allows us to avoid such a fate with our creations... CT

Hi! What an instructive thread! Thanks to Tim Boyd for starting it. It appears, indeed, that many among us are "gear heads", with metal as well as styrene. Who's to complain, really. I've spend my professionnaI life in the media and built numerous rods for myself, but since retiring, I do build 1/1 cars, mostly rods and Pro-Touring. Here are a few. Some are based on commercially available fiberglass bodies, some (like the dark grey primered car) are totally scratchbuild bodies and frame, from the ground up. To be able to do those, you need very committed patrons, of course. These days, the full-frame IFS/IRS chassis for 70's muscle cars are "in vogue", and guys in their 40's are pining for them. So, here we come. Life is short: might as well do something fun! CT

Hi Mike! To Tim's point about HOK adherence to bare metal... In the 90's, the rage with custom Harleys was buffing the gas tank sides and fenders' top with a coarse sanding disc, to raw metal, and then coat it with HOK's urethane candy, clear, let cure, sand and clear again, until a smooth finish was obtained. The effect after superposed artwork and contrasting solid panels/borders was great, with the coarse sanding marks reflecting the light trough the color coat. The same could happen with the brass surface, in not finely sanded with a scuff pad to get rid of any scratch, notch, hiccup and whatnot. Just my two cents, for what it's worth! CT -
Hi David! Exact color choice, perfect execution. Bravo! CT

NNL West 2021 - First canceled, now virtual online
Claude Thibodeau replied to Bernard Kron's topic in Contests and Shows
Hi Bernard! Let' see... Rods & customs, street machines, open wheel comp and closed wheel comp. I would have loved a "light commercial" class, but it appears non-existant. The level and quality of the entries we see on their site right now is great. CT -

Hi Bernard! You are right: you were the original poster here. Maybe Mr. Sorensen was mistaken and did not notice that you were... Anyway, he wanted me to contact him for another reason. Good luck with your entries on this show! Regards, CT -
Thank you then! I know that I will pick-up this OOP kit the next time I see it. Besides, one always has use for a mid-size Camino rear box in a spontaneous mash-up! Regards, CT
