  1. Thank you Oliver! Ah, decisions, decisions... CT
  2. Thank you Thomas! I don't care much myself for the "tuner cars", but I can see that younger guys would like to model them. If there are younger guys in this hobby, of course... CT
  3. Thanks David! It's a bit more work, but I often flip the hood on my cars... At least, you can open it and see almost nothing of the hinge system. Plus, once open, you don't have the "slots" on the cowl. Matter of taste, I guess... The rear window was virtually a shoe-in on the Starliner rear trunk edge panel. Lucky me! CT
  4. Hi Tom! Thank you. After 2 or 3 even coats of the candy cherry, it looked fine, but much more "pinkish", or magenta. So, I piled on 6 coats total. Under the sun, it really pops! CT
  5. Thank you Keith! Since I finished it, I saw a brochure of the "standard" station-wagon that Ford offered on the Starliner platform. It looks similar, with a more rounded "bubble" rear window. I read somewhere that the era customizers often used that OEM rear window as a custom windshield on some show-car creations... But of course, the OEM car was a 4 doors. And the windshield was much less raked than on the Alternomad... The joys of kit bashing! CT
  6. Thank you Ray, happy you like it! CT
  7. Thanks for the update! CT
  8. Hi Tim! Every time I see your creation, I'm blown away. And to say that I don't particularly like the stock 59 Chevy... Well: that Vermont healthy air again, eh? Bravo! CT
  9. Hi Tim! Just like the factory would have done, for the car shows round back then... Bravo! CT
  10. Hi Gary! The paint is totally "era correct", bravo! If I may: what was the problem with the doors, exactly? I have this kit in line for "production", and your experience would avoid me problems, I guess... CT
  11. Hi Tom! Great paint, and the combo on the PU is really nice. May I ask what is the source of the wheels/tires on the PU? They are very convincing... CT
  12. Thank you Nigel! And the Starliner kit is great to begin with... very detailed. That doesn't hurt... CT
  13. Thank you russell! indeed... I should have figured this long before! CT
  14. HI! Raiding your stash with a caliper may ascertain all kinds of mash-up possibilities. Case in point? MADLINER - an AMT 60 Starliner, with the Alternomad greenhouse! Chopped (a scale 4 inches) Alternomad top & glasses, scratchbuilt interior panels & rear compartment, Revell's Ferrari Enzo rolling stock, Foose F100 powertrain, inverted hood hinge system, custom exhaust, shaved upper chrome moldings, Metalflake's Candy Cherry over silver base, Testor's Wetlook clear. Fully polished. BMF & Molotow chrome. Wired & hosed. Hours of fun with styrene! CT
  15. Hi Sir! Your car is living proof that talent, combined with patience and planning, can amount to formidable results. Bravo! I've never tried building a race car at this scale (1/16), but you are giving me ideas, for certain... CT
  16. Hi Steve! That overhead view is sweet! All those AN fittings (Earl's?) and wiring details make for a very convincing engine. Bravo! CT
  17. Hi Paul! Pleasant discovery! It is very well finished, and like your wife I suppose, it only got better with time! Bravo! CT
  18. Salut Arnaud! You are a the right place to enjoy the company of passionnate modelers! ct
  19. Hi Aymer! This is a massive scratchbuilt fabrication effort, and the end result is very impressive. Bravo! CT
  20. Hi Francis! Great technique, and great parts. Bravo! I was visiting a friend last week, who just restored a 1/1 1970 Challenger T/A, and he told me he had to remove the springs from the hinges, because over time, they exerted a pull on the fiberglass hodd, and got it to buck, or arc up at midpoint lenghtwise... The resin of the glass hood could not sustain the pressure. May such a threat exist on your plastic hood, even if it appears well gusseted and reinforced? Just curious... keep on! CT
