  1. Hmmm...and all along I thought these bodies were fiberglass. Is the scoop scale? Man, what's underneath....?
  2. Coming along well. So what exactly is different on this car as opposed to the original T-Bolts? Of course, I get it with the wider tires, but what else? Is this a special class drag car, or just a build it 'cause you like it street car, or bracket car? Mike..
  3. A few guys have asked questions, so, yes the car has a windshield, the seat belts are attached to the rear chassis and the chute is scratch built. Also the front spoiler is aluminum sheet. Here a few updated photos as the car sits alongside other fuel cars on the shelf... That's it. Thanks for looking. Mike..
  4. Something about this car....when I first look at it....makes me think....aquarium. Anyone else?
  5. Amazing. Looks real.
  6. Wow. Any pics of the motor available? Really sensational stuff popping up here.
  7. Again, fairly the same setup as previous. Where do you acquire these beautiful and stunning builds?
  8. Again, another that you might be able to pull off. I don't understand what's going on. Do you buy these partially finished cars, then build them further? Great idea. Some pics of what you've done with these cars would be great too. Got any?
  9. Well, you write that this is what you've come up with so far, and that you don't know if you can pull it off. Also, the body was already painted. So, have you done anything, or should I praise the previous owner?
  10. Beautiful build, respect. Super smooth paint and excellent BMF detailing. Such an old kit, and so well done is just a joy to view. No idiotic slicks, no insane motor, just doing as the kit prescribes. This, being done just as it is supposed to be. Plus...the hood fits! Compliments.
  11. I only have one project at a time on the bench. Usually beforehand I've already spent months gathering all of the information needed to build the project. Once started, I'll go through with it until finished, like maybe 3-4 months. The build before last though, needed a 30 month interval due to joint problems with my hands. OK nowadays. I'm rarely happy when it's done, mostly kind of saddened that's it's over. Then after a break, on to planning the next one. Anyways, I'm always interested in reading what other modelers are up to, and also the mind think.
  12. Well, we'd all like to see some pics. Not every day a guy buys an auctioned police car. How many miles? What year? How about dings and dents?
  13. This makes me laugh, I'll bet your friend has stories to tell too! Kind of like, stupid folks do stupid things.
  14. Wow. Do you have any photos to show of your acquisition? You driving a cop car...what an idea. Truly, am amazing story. 140? On Long Island? Kind of crazy too, don't you think?
  15. Hi Tony...that's a fairly unique presentation, I love it. Very original. Car looks absolutely great too...well done! I've never seen this model before. Paint job looks ultra smooth and above all, the gold color is a hit and it appears to be truly correct of the Hurst Olds! Could you offer some insight concerning the paint? Brand, application, things of this nature? Mike..
  16. No permafrost in that area. Must of been from down south.
  17. Oh yeah...they look appetizing. Ahem, what's with the spikes on your grill?
  18. Much appreciated Niko, thank you. I really wanted to make the car exact scale. The motor was off quite a bit, too narrow and still, after making a double thick firewall and adding two more front plates and lengthening the heads and valve covers, still too short. The failing couple of millimeters made for a problem for the motor sitting in the chassis. It worked out OK though. Next time around, these issues will have to be attended before casting the parts in metal! Thanks again for looking.
  19. Message to OP. Not to worry, I'm gone here. I was just teasing, no harm meant. Truly amazing work there.
  20. Yep, that's it. Why didn't I see that. And Snake. And Chris. It's the camera, silly guys. ? This is really kind of unbelievable. Amazing actually. If I wouldn't have seen this, I would've thought someone is pulling my leg. Yeah, two of the best drag cars I've ever seen alright. Just, where I'm from, we don't have no stinkin' drag cars....just kidding. You are fully and totally correct. Message to all of you guys who have made paintjobs to drool over, so smooth and realistic it makes you wonder how it's done....forget it. Especially when the work is so smooth, but the paint is hand polished, no clear coat.....Go back to the bench and get a life. Learn how to do it right. These two here....for sure the best ever. ?
  21. Wow. Sure, as I stated the builds are fantastic, just the paint quality sucks. That these cars won in your club, I'm happy about it. Truly excellent detailing and modeling. The paintjob is, relating to the rest of the model, insufficient. So, where I'm coming from is, my thoughts are in my opinion, a modeler of this caliber should produce a better paintjob. Nothing more, nothing less. Look around here on our forum, guys are producing paintjobs that are just fantastic. What is shown here is 2nd rate. For sure not on the same level as the rest of the model shows. So, think about it. Sure the cars are wonderfully built. Just, the paint still sucks.
  22. Oh my, very fine modeling here. Compliments.
  23. ..."ugly camo tan color...better on a tank." LOL, that makes me laugh, I'll easily agree too! Still, look at all of the cars posted on this forum. Lots of closeups in all kinds of light. Orange peel is orange peel. It always comes out. Most of us here work on it, and try to get it out and have gone through the painstaking route of sanding out a bumpy paintjob. The two models shown here, with these obvious shown building skills, showing a crummy paintjob is just weak, my opinion. Do you not agree? Sorry, it's not a car model from a member here, at least I suppose this to be the case, still, the paint job sucks. Amazing details though.
  24. Beautiful work here Steven. I know the 68 W30 motor. I added an Edelbrock intake and Holley too, but went back to the Quadrajet because it sounded so good when the gas pedal was floored! Geez, what a sound. I didn't notice any performance difference. The motor color above...well, I remember it as being more golden. I suppose you'll chrome the dual inlet air cleaner...? Excellent work! Mike..
  25. Well I'll have to say, with this guys' modeling talents, I would expect a better paint job. Look especially at the orange car. This is big time orange peel paint on there. A beginner, after the first model car, looks toward getting a better paintjob. I really think, a lot of beginners can do better paint than this dude. OK, so I'm knocking a guys talent, or lack thereof, just his painting sucks. My opinion though.
