  1. Thanks for the link! Lots of good reference photos there. Ben
  2. I have the Gulf version in my stash. Taking note on how it’s done! Ben
  3. Thanks for the info! I'll add a set to my next SpotModel order. Ben
  4. Beautiful!!! I’ve been thinking of building Keating’s car. What is your opinion of the DecalCas decals? I’ve never used that brand before. Ben
  5. Very nice!!! Ben
  6. Hi Dann, I didn't make any changes to the kit, other than to fix the width and angle of the lower sills so the decals that went there would fit. I try to stay relatively close to out of the box with my car models, since I tend to go a little detail crazy sometimes on my airplane builds. If I had found that link @lilcraigford posted when I was building the model, I probably would have at least had a go at fixing the ride height. The only problems I had with the kit were self-induced, although the windscreen gave me trouble at the top that I never was able to fix to my satisfaction. Here's a bad cell phone shot of the completed model. I haven't had time to take some decent glamour shots with my DSLR, yet. The paint is Tamiya TS-89 Pearl Blue over a Tamiya gloss black base, with TS-88 Titanium Silver for the stripe. I used decals from Tabu Design, and they worked well. Ben
  7. Thanks, Dann. Now I have that song stuck in my head! ? Ben
  8. I finished this kit as the #24 car a few months ago. It’s a great kit! I built mine mostly out of the box with aftermarket decals. I didn’t have any fit problems. I look forward to seeing your progress! Ben
  9. Beautiful ! I’ve been a big fan of the Countache for years. I had the Alpine poster on my college dorm wall. Ben
  10. @JJ Deuce, I’ve only see one black MSM over the years. Pretty car! @markbt73, the 1.6 cars are a hoot! The engines seem to like to rev more that the 1.8s. Ben
  11. My first car was a 71 B GT in that color! Sadly, I totaled it less than a year later. My current toy is a 2004 Mazdaspeed Miata. I’ve since switched to lighter aftermarket wheels. Ben
  12. Very nice! I recently finished this kit and ran into the same problem with the fit of the hood. The frame on mine was also twisted. I like your choice of wheels. The kit wheels are too big (15” to fit generic tires) and make the model sit too high. Your wheels/tires fixed that. Well done! Ben
  13. That looks great! This kit is on my to-do list. Watching closely. Ben
  14. Beautiful build! I’ve been wanting to try one of these myself. You’ve inspired me! (Im off to eBay now... ? ) Ben
  15. I completely missed your Feb 21 post! Looking good! Ben
  16. Repainted the lower wing on a Tamiya NSX race car for the third time due to a couple of idiotic mistakes on my part. Each redo required first a gray primer over the purple plastic, then a layer of white so the Day Glo would be nice and bright. Finally got it looking good this morning and then noticed it should be black, instead. D’oh! Ben
  17. Google “Viper v10 twin turbo” for a lot of images. There’s a build of a Jag with one and there are some pics of the engine out of the car so you can see one possible way to build it up. Ben
  18. Doesn't help with the Revell kit, but from what I'm reading, Tamiya updated they're original RX-7 kit from the "SA" version ('78-'80) to the "FB" version ('80-'85) with the more blended-in bumpers. There is a company called DiOlex Production that sells the 4-spoke wheels that came on these cars. Ben
  19. Thanks for the info! Quite a difference from the real car’s 185/70R13. Remember when 60s were considered “low profile?” ? Ben
  20. Thanks for the info, everyone! I didn’t realize there were so many different kits of this car. Ben
  21. @peteski, yes , all of the first gen RX-7s has 13” wheels, except for the GSL-SE, which had 14s. Cars have gotten so huge today the 13s seem tiny. It’s getting to be difficult to find performance tires in that size. Even the factory 17s on my Miata look like wagon wheels on the little car, so I swapped them for much lighter 15s. Thanks for offering to measure your wheels but it looks like Don has us covered. @Mattilacken, thanks, but that’s the 2nd gen RX-7. I still need to build one of those! @Casey, thanks! I wasn’t aware of that kit! I just went to eBay looking for the AMT kit and discovered ARII made a 1/24 kit, too! Ben
  22. D’oh! Sorry about the confusion! Rob has accurately unraveled what I was trying to say. I added some text that hopefully will make my question more clear. And yes, its currently Revell RX-7, which is a reissue of the Monogram kit from 1979. I actually own 1/1 ‘04 Mazdaspeed Miata and I’m half-seriously looking for an RX-7 to play with (don’t tell my wife! ?). I was just curious if, in the unlikely event I stumble across an old Tamiya RX-7 Savannah kit or wheels for a decent price, I could adapt its wheels to the Revell kit to fix the monster truck sit. Cheers! Ben
