PRO-TORINO: 1972 Johan Torino pro-touring
AmericanMuscleFan replied to Claude Thibodeau's topic in Model Cars
And here it is... 3 or 4 days without coming to make my turn in this category and Claude proposes us another of his treasure! I must say that it's been a while... I was starting to think that you were getting soft... Jokes aside, I love it even if it starts out as a winner with the advantage of being one of the most beautiful years for the Torino in my opinion (with all due respect to others because the taste is not to be discussed). The construction is first class as usual and I predict it will be another of your head-turning models! So get some liability insurance, you might need it my friend!!! I don't see the green air valves, will this jewelry run without nitrogen in the tires...? ? Francis -

Thanks for the sweet words Tim! Let's go in moderation, sugar is not very good for your vision and seeing your project progress, your full visual capacity is a must! ? -
Great attention to detail as usual, Tim! Not many modelers would take the time to work with the real thing like Titanium. It makes the project even more addictive... No matter how many insane hours are spent on these pieces, it's quite a show for the amateurs... like me... ?

Well, I'll have to visit this section more often... I'm coming on board 6 months late and on top of that I notice that you've moved away from me... I see that your sense of humor and your talent have followed you to your new home my friend! It's always a little unsettling to start over in a new environment, but I think you've got it under control and you're doing pretty well on the machining side by the way... ?

Another way of saying you are still a young but experienced man! Best of both worlds... ? -

Thanks Sergey! The pleasure of meeting here on this forum and sharing our passion regardless of the distance that separates us ... the magic of the internet!!! Thank you for your enthusiasm but it may not make much noise... however, I would not pass up your birthday my friend, is it the beginning of adulthood or the continuity of what I call the new youth! ? -

AmericanMuscleFan replied to Mike Williams's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Beautiful technique Mike, did you make the grooves by hand? It takes a lot of skill and precision... qualities that are your trademark I agree! ? -
I know exactly what you're talking about and I must add that it's hard to get the best of both worlds when you like the car sitting low (the Steve Hayden way)! A hood scoop is not a bad option when one of your goals is to get the best possible stance for a pro touring car with a big bad engine... ? Eye candy!!! ?

Great attention to detail with impeccable assembly which produced a high level build. I love the color too, by the way! ? -

Thanks Jerry! I still have a few parts to make before I can say the engine is complete, but I'm close to the final count... I'll do the rest next fall in addition to the other missing parts for this long project... ? Thanks Bob! I am aware that construction takes time and I hope you will continue to be lenient with me on the time needed to deliver the goods... Thank you very much Mike! I had a thought for you when I made this update. I remembered that you had asked me several months ago for pictures with the headers in place. I deliver the goods with a lot of delay but as they say, better late than never... Thanks for your patience my friend! ? Francis -

Thanks Claude! So I will have to choose my next build very carefully and do more research to increase my yellow metal inventory. It could be that we have to travel with an adapted transport service for people with reduced mobility at the next exhibition, that should add a good decade to my time of realization... ? You're probably right, Styrene is endangered... ? Hope to see you soon... in person!!! Thanks Marcos! -

Great job Ray! You built it in 2 weeks... that's what we call a "tour de force" in French. The final result is superb by the way! -

Thanks Ray! I certainly won't win an award for speed of execution though... The brass parts have time to oxidize between my updates...? Thanks Daniel, I am always honored to have your support my friend! Thanks Jim, The header tubes are made with soft aluminum craft wires, the material is quite malleable but not as malleable as roll solder, however the size is exactly what I wanted (0.080''). -
AMT '67 Mustang Fastback-Now in Under Glass Section
AmericanMuscleFan replied to mustang1989's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Great to see you back on this category Joe! It seems that your little detour in the aerial category did not affect your talent for building cars... ? The '67 Mustang Fastback is one of my favorites, so your topic is very informative and will give us good feedback on the kit. Sorry for not being more active these days, things will pick up in the next few weeks but I'll be back from time to time to appreciate your progress my friend! -

Hello everyone, Things are still going very slowly lately, so I took some pictures with the headers temporarily in place to check the fit before going any further. I had to do a lot of adjustment on the main member (before painting it) to keep the engine as low as possible in the engine compartment without forgetting all the components that are present on the driver side. The passenger side was rather easy to adjust because there are few obstacles to the passage of the piping but I imagine that it would probably be a bit like this on a real vehicle. Sorry, there is some Tamiya tape in some places because I don't want to damage the paint by manipulating the frame, moreover, except for the suspension and steering components, everything is only temporarily installed at their destination places. The piping seems to fit well everywhere to date, I keep my fingers crossed as twisted as all those pipes... ? I had only few hours on the bench and made some minor progress on the parachute set-up fabrication. It will be a removable device as I need to keep access to open the tailgate since the fuel tank will be located between the hump and the tailgate. Sorry for this little summer interlude but I really enjoy watching the good work that continues to be done all over the site during the summer months, it is very inspiring!!! Francis -

AmericanMuscleFan replied to Tortuga Kustomz's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
I love your great determination Marcos, your obsession with creating all these details is exemplary and I have no doubt that the final result will be exceptional. For the windows, I know that there is a super glue (cyanoacrylate) designed specifically for this and it is not supposed to make white marks like the usual versions. I have a bottle of it but I haven't tried it yet... Perhaps clear two-part epoxy would still be the safest way? -

AmericanMuscleFan replied to Mike Williams's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
I'm not worried Mike, it's just a little hiccup and everything will be back to normal soon, I'm sure you'll find something to show us to surprise us again. Knowing that you are already retired, I hope that your vacation in Italy has had a positive and relaxing effect on you and your sweetheart... ? -
This is great work Daniel, the whole front steering system with its components is first class like everything you do my friend... ? I remember my dad installing a pair of Gabriel shocks on his 75 Plymouth Fury when I was younger and I kept the sticker that came in the box at the time, I must still have it somewhere. The color of these looks perfect to me by the way! ?
