  1. So sorry to hear about the dog.... As a pet owner that's my biggest fear. Having my guy loose his mind chasing a squirrel and getting nailed. I hit a dog myself many years ago and I still feel bad about it. Thanks for the compliments on my build, but don't look too closely. There's no suspension, steering, etc.... and those flocked seats look like ____! But it was a quick, fun build. Now, let's get back to that little pearl your building!
  2. What a day.... Dog is fine ($400+ at the Vet....) , sewer was snaked (###### tree in front of my house.....) and everything cleaned up. Add in a lost day of commission at work, and.... OUCH! As for your questions: The doors fit horribly.... I should have allowed more room for paint. Thanks on the compliment with the tubbing. I used a quick change Halibrand rear for it's narrowness. I opened up the radiator shell & put some pipe screen behind it. Thanks again on the rear deck mods. I don't remember where the headlights came from. I built this thing over 10 yrs. ago..... And as for photos......
  3. I'm home with a sick dog and a flood in my basement. Perfect Monday so far...... But I tell ya what, after the Vet & Plumber, I'll dig out the Dixie and snap a few good clear shots for you. It was a fun build. IIRC, I used the frame from the Fiat double dragster as a base.... I'll get back later with more.....
  4. For me, I have a Jazz station that broadcast's out of New Jersey (WBGO) They play all the genuine vintage stuff. Just Piano, Bass, Drums, Horns, and usually very poorly recorded. For me it's the perfect fit for a mellow mood for building. It's not all I listen to, but for model building it's old school Jazz.
  5. Just to make it easier.... http://lyrics.astraw...spirit_of_radio BTW: This song is a powerful show of musical TALENT. Not someone lip-syncing to a clap-track and kick drum.
  6. Wow, that's pretty narrow minded. I bet you like multi-piece body Revell kits too because they came from the "Golden Age" of modeling the classics! Being 53 yrs. old I'll bet you think I'm going to lobby for the Stones, Floyd, and Tull. Nope, never happen. Much like today, radio feeds you what THEY want you to hear. Not to single out anyone (sorry for the above quote....) but to me all those "Classic" rock acts are nothing more than that generations top 40 that was pumped out of the record company machine. If you close your mind to new things, your bound to be a historian, not a participant of today. Modern music is bad? Yup.... only the ###### you hear on the radio. Nickleback stinks, but Stone Sour is great. The new Metallica with Lou Reed is HORRIBLE.... but Metallica's last album was good. You just have to LISTEN. I don't own a Beatles, Zeppelin, Stones, or Grateful Dead album (MP3 files...) But I DID go see Death Angel, Testament, and Anthrax in New Jersey Saturday night.... I guess I'm the exception to the "Classic Rock" regurgitation demographic, huh? Listen to the words to Rush's Spirit of the Radio. This will give some insight to what I'm saying.... BTW: When I build I prefer some vintage Jazz to keep the mood smooth and easy. If I'm doing demo work in the yard or I'm using loud, noisy power tools, Slipknot or Tool is a good fit. To me classic rock is early Rage Against the Machine...
  7. ..... that tasty Dan Fink speedwagon pick-up? Eric's beautifully detailed `64 Dodge? Randy's brass masterpiece? Rommel's Daytona? And countless others..... What happened? Huh? Huh?
  8. Great job Dave! Concept, color, and completion are first rate. Helluva job.....
  9. Sorry for the old blurry pictures taken with an ancient 1.8 MP digital, but you get the idea. I built this about 10 yrs. ago. This is the Heller BMW "Dixie" done as a street rod. The engine is a cut-down 392 Hemi made into a V-6 w/ fuel injection from the AMT S-10 kit. Completed with an outrageous tub job...... Yours is turning out MUCH nicer than mine though! I just had to share since it's not everyday you see a similar build on an off-beat subject!
  10. I know it's short (like today.....) notice, but no mention of the LIARS model show today?!?!? Freeport, Long Island. Details in web page http://www.wix.com/l...elcarclub/liars
  11. Yeah, your right. I wish had a "nice" Chevy. Instead of a Bitchin Mopar!
  12. Sounds like my complaint when I go to a 1:1 car show with the Barracuda!
  13. Wow Dave, every new thread is a treat. I really like your ideas and builds. Great work Dude.... great work.
  14. I love the scratch-built turbo on the VW Jose! NICE! The Poncho isn't bad either.... along with the others.
  15. Another killer creation. Your a helluva builder dude.... BTW: OPI is a brand of nail polish. My Wife uses it occasionally.
  16. You have some tasteful vision there David.... You can see a great finished product in the most humble beginnings. Originality doesn't begin to describe this, or any of your other builds. Thank you for posting & describing what/how your doing it.
  17. I just watched the Saving Private Ryan into.... wow, what a disappointment! All the bombs were FAKE! And all the explosions were dubbed in, NOT REAL!?!? NO ONE was actually dodging live ammo. And the computer generated graffics...... . C`mon guys...let it go. I posted this clip as a piece of entertainment. Are your lives THAT empty to bang on repeatedly about how bad this clip is? IT'S JUST ENTERTAINMENT, just like every other reference posted. And yes, I've driven race cars and been around high performance machinery all my adult life. Sheeesh!
  18. I had no idea this would be picked apart like the Zupruder film...... To tell the truth, I could care less if the camera was attached to a Trabant, it was some brazen driving doing some stupid things.
  19. Got `cha..... although I lived through that era myself and I didn't care for it then either! Cool van either way. I have one and am looking forward to building it now!
  20. What a coincidence.... just this morning in the basement I found a box with a few resin bodies in it. An A-100 van was in there. Great color choice for it. But I think it looks better without the white letter tires, but that's just me.
  21. I'm amazed at your proficiency John! As soon as one really nice build hits the shelf, you crack open the next one. Looking forward to your current build. The very first time I noticed your building was the Easyriders streamliner, so naturally I associate you with bikes. This should be a treat......
  22. BTW: Count how many red lights he runs, how many times he drives into on-coming traffic, and he even hit the side walk once. Never mind the people he comes close to......
  23. How about THIS for a great opening. It's so good, it's the entire movie! I'm sure someone can fill in the blanks, but it's basically a run through the streets of Paris at dawn, flat out.... in a Ferrari, for an early morning rendezvous, the name of the film, with his lady. Watch THIS...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8Vo8iGLMwk
  24. In post #29 Dave mentioned it was started in August and put aside for the Corvair build. Regardless, there's some great stuff coming off that work bench. Thanks for sharing your build progress!
