  1. That's a work of art John. Fantastic job! What really makes your build even more impressive is the speed. Do you sleep,eat,work....?
  2. OK, I'm embarrassed! Sorry for the momentary brain-inactivity... It happens from time to time and I blame it on the 80's.
  3. I haven't commented on this build much, but I have to at this point. John, I read the magazine interview about you and saw the Easyrider bike you built and have seen your other work on here. Amazing.... But to watch you start, quite literally, from the ground up and not only build a drag bike, but one of THE most convincing scale replicas I've seen in a while is a gift to us hacks. I give props to the other master builders on here and your name must be included. Rommel, Randy, and yourself are 3 big reasons why all model builders should visit this site on a regular basis for a refresher course in how it's done. I'm still organizing the new house and I do have a dedicated room for my building. By this Fall I'll be building and annoying everyone with my junk. But in the meantime we get master class lessons from you guys. Thank you John.
  4. P/M usually means Private Message, or e-mailing the poster directly through the forum. I myself was wondering which John he referred to in that post also.... But this Daytona is soooo BITCHIN!
  5. Just like Randy's Rat Rod build, opening a new post in this thread is a treat. I hope I have the opportunity to see these builds somewhere/sometime in the future. Inspirational is an understatement. Thank you for sharing, and teaching. Now if Eric would get back with some updates on that `64 Dodge.....
  6. That's so true... As always, it's like opening a present when there's an update. Incredible build...incredible. Your attention to details is amazing. The mounting holes in the door hinges for example. Awesome! Years ago I built a drag bike from brass and it was a challenge. Yes, that's a Hemi on a bike frame... What your doing is %$#@#$% epic... Thank you for the lessons!
  7. Make friends with someone that works in a transmission rebuilding shop. Ask for all the old seals and pop out the spring loop that holds tension on the seal. Some of them are pretty long & thin and can be painted/tinted to resemble looms. And they're free....
  8. I think it's great that the manufacturer listened to the enthusiasts! That's an awesome compliment letting the hobbyist know that they were heard and involved. Personally I'm more interested in the Chrysler, but I can appreciate a well engineered kit. Even if it is a Hudson...
  9. .... and the 2 loose bolts on the air cleaner lid replicates what? Just busting balljoints. BTW: The air cleaner lid on my Barracuda matches the body color instead of being "correct" Besides, correctness is moot. A 6Bbl. was never offered on a `68 A Body.
  10. Now you did it.... Hemi orange is a different color than the other orange color used on the big blocks Mopar's and later 340's... And the air cleaner lid on 6 BBl's is a different shade too. Use Chebbie orange and a public lynching is DEFINITELY in order.
  11. Awesome updates! I know a project such as your Daytona is a job and a half... and taking the time to photograph & chronicle the build itself is generosity beyond belief on your part. This is an amazing build..... THANK YOU.
  12. Don't leave out the steering wheel installed with .0000256" between the bottom of the rim and the lower seat cushion and about 11" scale inches from the upper backrest. How do you drive it?
  13. BTW: I'm no world-class builder, but I do know a coil wire only goes in ONE end of a coil, and that it doesn't go THROUGH the coil..... no matter how nice a piece of billet metal that coil is or how realistic that bracket is for the coil, or how nicely attached those custom machined nuts & bolts are holding it all together. Yeah... I said it. Flame away....
  14. Oh boy, I'm going to take this is a totally different direction...... My biggest pet-peeve is the unrealistic builds. I'm talking about the builds all agreed as epic. Then when you really start looking you see the glaring inaccuracies. The coil wires coming out of MSD ignition boxes, seat belts attached to aluminum wheel well tubs, or 97 coats of smooth-as-glass paint totally obscuring all body panels and trim. Then about 7 lbs. of photo etched sprinkled all over the car with no purpose or reason for being there. But boy-oh-boy does it look important! You know, Dzus fasteners on roof panels...without any apparent seams. Or cooling grills randomly glued to tops of fenders or trunk lids. There's been models that were joked about the weight. The more photo etched, the better the model mentality. There's so much fluff that's not necessary or incorrectly installed.... and these are built by experienced builders, none (that I know of...) whom are posters here, but some are well known. Never mind the levitating alternators or starched plug wires .... But beautifully assembled and realistically recreated scale safety belts anchored to aluminum wheel tubs in a Pro-Mod? C`mon...
  15. Time for a hi-jack..... What ever happened to those MT Drag radials a forum member was working on?
  16. Turn on your speakers for this one. Oh, and don't have a mouthful of soda or food...
  17. An often overlooked thread, great idea! Spouses that connect are rare. I'm happy to see there are others with cool wives too. My gal Amy supports my hobbies, but I also reciprocate and involve myself with things that interest her. She made me a N.Y. Mets fan after having limited interest in the sport, I let her run free in Barnes & Noble or Boarders and she buys books like mad (she has a similar obsession with books..), and I attend concerts that I normally wouldn't go to, most recently Bon Jovi. In return she let's me buy all the toys, Basses, and Musclecar parts (within reason) that my heart desires. But showing restraint is key. Too much "freedom" will lead to abuse. As long as it goes both ways, your golden. Although I DID flat-out refuse to go see the Foreigner, Journey, and Night Ranger show with her...
  18. I'm here to say people are not only paying attention, but are amazed at your workmanship. It's been quite a while since we've heard from you..... Just trying to keep this thread alive. It's an incredible build.
  19. <Sigh....> I guess summertime has taken it's stranglehold upon one of our talented builders. It's been almost 2 months since an update and now I'm araid it's going to be sometime in the Fall before this get's dusted off. I guess this will become a future "I started this and I should finish it" threads.
  20. Love the progress! Amazing skills Dude.....&^%$#$% amazing.
  21. I love these updates.... Amazing workmanship. I'm anxious to see the final color on the brass too! Great job.
  22. Don't know about everyone else, but your killing me.... .
  23. Ahhhhh..... That was a nice mid-afternoon treat. Nice work Rommel... #@*% nice!
