The fender tag should be body color.... Great build. I *think* I have one of those stashed away. Yours is inspirational to say the least. On a side note: There's a guy on Long Island that hung `71 Swinger sheet metal on a `69 Dart convertible shell. Talk about doing a double take when you see it! I don't know why Ma Mopar killed off the A body convertible after `69....

1941 Plymouth Pick up
FASTBACK340 replied to Thor's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Wow, there's alot to talk about here! First of all, AMAZING build. The weathering is superb! The picture above could pass for an actual car with the right background. Aside from the body weathering, look at the warped, swelled, splintered, and weathered wood for the bed. Look at it.... Wow. A how to is in order! When ever a build catches my attention, I stop looking at the flash and look for the details. This has them all. Look at the thin, weathered moldings. Or the dull & rusty hood trim & grill. While a few bumps and dents would put it over the top, this is one of the nicer weathered vehicles I've seen. And the engine detailing is perfect. No flash or billet or P.E. Just enough metal to make it functional. Nice and subtle, like it would actually look. Thor, your peers have spoken. Please share some of your techniques with us. Or better yet, share them with Gregg. You have a talent that should be a feature story. Awesome skills Dude! -
Nice piece! Is that resin or did you fabricate the rear roof? And if you did do the mods, how?
-
My thoughts too.... The photography is awesome. No place to hide with being sloppy, and boy.... no worries here! Surgical-precise assembly. Good use of colors really makes it visually appealing. And the weathering.... Wow. Man.... that's a sweet build. I love it!

Fast forward to distant future: MCM forum member: Wanna hear about a great score? My wife & I were vacationing in a remote area of _______ and we happened across a yard sale..... After everyone congratulates MCM member for scoring dozens of `58 annuals for $5 each we all wish it was us. Scenario #2: Your walking your dog and you see CASES of model kits being tossed into a church good-will van.... Scenario #3: You tell family members whom to contact for help in selling off collection in the event you hit the exit ramp....

M/T Drag Radials
FASTBACK340 replied to FASTBACK340's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
LOL! No problem. Back in July I said I was mounting a set on my car in August. I just got them yesterday.... Believe me, I'm not building the 1/25th. replica anytime soon. I just want to get them so I have them. I'm sure EVERYONE here can relate to the "acquiring every piece you need for a project" syndrome. Then everything sits in an unmarked box until your estate sale..... -
While I'm not a fan of Midgets, that there is some nice work. Great skills my friend.... beautiful paint... killer build!

M/T Drag Radials
FASTBACK340 replied to FASTBACK340's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hate to be a pest, but how's the progress on those drag radials? It's been 7 months.... and I bet I'm not the only one anxious to see them either. -
Revell National contest
FASTBACK340 replied to moparmagiclives's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks! This is an older build as I'm STILL trying to get a work area set up in the new house. AMT `32 Vicky w/ Ross Gibson 413 w/ cross ram from an old JoHan kit. -
My favorite muscle car lives in my garage.... 1968 Barracuda 340 Formula S When all six barrels open up, you better be pointed where you wanna be.... I love the 4 Spd. w/ bench This might seem cocky, but there's too many check-book muscle car "enthusiasts" here on Long Island. They buy someone else s work and call it their own.

Revell National contest
FASTBACK340 replied to moparmagiclives's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I was just busting chops with the Mopar reference..... I've been reading the replies and I agree 100%. Even with the contest entries restricted to Street Rods it's good for the hobby. And if there is a second go-around, it'll be something else. Good idea. Trying to judge apples against oranges never ends well. And as for stuffing a Hemi in the Deuce, does a 413" cross rammed big block count? -

Yeah, but no Mopars? -

I just read that too: no Mopars.... WTF? -
I love Mopar guys teasing each other.... That N94 Challenger is indeed pretty cool. I don't recall ever seeing it before. Thanks for posting. Challenger build is coming along nicely.

What are your Projects for 2011
FASTBACK340 replied to Clay's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
<sigh....> I'd love to finish my mid-engined 12 cyl. Hemi Dodge Daytona open wheeled roadster I started 10 yrs. ago. Or the exact replica of my actual car. Shoot.... I'd be happy getting a SNAP KIT done! But first, I'd like to get this project done: This is where my hobby area will be. I just have to sort out a few things..... I'll start sorting through what I'll keep & sell and then make a nice work area. Then watch out.... -

Bill can assemble a snap kit with his feet better than I could with my hands.... For those whom have never met Bill in person are missing out. He's every bit the gentleman & "nice guy" as one can imagine. Good to hear from him. -

In another thread it was suggested a thread be started asking the membership what THEY are thankful for? I had posted a few things that improved for my family and I acknowledged that I was indeed thankful. Times have been rough for many in the past 2 years. No matter what, there must be something that's happened for you that could be something your thankful for. Please share
