  1. Yeah, he's a winner. We were having a hard time finding a Dog through various rescues (which would be a healthy rant for another thread.....) when along came this guy. The good folks at Sean Casey Animal Rescue in Prospect Park, Brooklyn found him tied up in front of the shelter with no note...no tags...nothing. They took him in and gave him the once-over. Shots, neutered, rabies vaccine, and he's micro-chipped. Best reason guessed why he was abandoned is that either he grew too big to be handled, not enough room, or he was bowling over children because he's a big & clumsy puppy. He's housebroken, knows basic commands, walks well (for me...) on a leash, and doesn't bark, whine, or growl. Not to mention he's a big mush. He's a German Shepherd / Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. He's estimated to be about 10 months old and is 65 lbs. He has about 8 months more of growing yet.... After loosing our Dog Angel last May, we knew we'd get another when the time was right. This big loveable lug came along and is fitting right in. As a matter of fact, the circulation in my left foot is cut off because someone is laying on my foot right now.... And I'm fine with it.
  2. The past year has been a roller coaster for my Wife & me. We had a battle with the NYC water dept. over a HUGE billing mistake that took 7 months to resolve. Then our 16 yr. old Mutt got very ill and we lost her last May. Then a nightmare with our mortgage company over a clerical error while we were rebuilding the house...juggling our job responsibilities... spending too much money....and having a meltdown at work forcing me to change jobs. Then my Father-in-law starts with Chemotherapy... and my Brother-in-law is on a Liver transplant list in California. End result? We're thankful we finished our house and moved in. We're thankful our financial issues are resolved, and in our favor. We're thankful my un-expected job change was in our favor, with more money and a better environment. We're thankful my Wife's Father is stable and his aliment is non-threatening. We're thankful our jobs are secure and we haven't had any financial issues with the economic sleigh ride we went on. Many I know didn't/aren't faring as well. We're thankful my Brother-in-law is coming to stay with us for Christmas. We're thankful my Wife, myself, and our families are healthy and happy. We're thankful we rescued an adorable Mutt last Sunday that's rapidly becoming one of us. I hope everyone's Thanksgiving is as meaningful as ours is today.
  3. Same here. Good to hear from you Bill. Amy & me stopped in at the CPMCC meeting a few weeks ago for their meeting/auction. We were hoping to see you. As for stepping away from the hobby,I can relate to getting burned out. With me it was getting away from the 1:1 car scene as I used to moderate on a Mopar site. Between building my car and corralling 15,000 members it got tiresome. Amy & me moved into our house and I'll have the work bench set up soon. After taking a few years off, I'm ready to get back into this. See you on the forum hopefully! Stay well my friend.
  4. <dang...> I'd trade my `Cuda for that in a heartbeat! I gots sum more..... In 1999 I had the pleasure of meeting Ronnie & Diane Sox @ Carlisle. Two beautiful people.... When I was 10 my Dad took me to the long-gone New York National Speedway on the east end of Long Island. This is the first thing I saw when I walked in: the Hemi under Glass. This car is what makes me go Gaa-Gaa over second generation Barracuda's. In 2004 my wife & I spent most of the day hanging with Bob Riggle at Mopars at the Strip in Las Vegas. Here I am SITTING in it. To say it was a special day is an epic understatement.... I'm a Mopar guy, but once in a while a Chevy comes along..... My wife wanted to sneak this into her pocketbook and bring it home. This thing is a lunch box.... Imagine a rear-view mirror full on THIS thing?!?!/ Ever see one of these lately? Yeah Baby..... And the last one is my friend Tom's big-block Duster I have to pick up my Wife.... More later.
  5. Cool thread with some GREAT cars. Some just sitting & rotting away, such as those early oval window Beetles in Chicago. What a shame.... I spotted these not far from my house on Labor Day weekend. A neighbor of mine is into low & slow. This pops up at various cruise nights out here on Long Island. The owner lives in Garden City near Roosevelt Field Mall on Old Country Rd. I spotted this money-pit in front of S-K Speed Shop in Rockville Center.... Spotted this in front of a small local church in Bayside, N.Y. Don't know what the &^%$ this thing was.... I shot this in the Lancaster area of Penn. a few years ago. Here it looks like someone built a 1:1 scale Model Car Garage hood How about an I SCREAM truck? Here's a few for now.... I gotta go.
  6. I have the Hobby Expo Digger `Cuda in blue tinted plastic, but PL did a Ghost `Cuda in Blue too?!?!?!?! I never see the Red ones listed ANYWHERE.... now I have to search for a BLUE one TOO!?!?!?! <Grrrr!> Thanks for giving me a new part-time job if this is true!
  7. Do you have the red tinted Polar Lights Ghost kits? From what I heard, these are very rare. They also did the Charger in tinted red, but I only have the `Cuda.
  8. Too bad it's the large bolt pattern wheels. I have a nice set of Centerlines I'm undecided about putting on the `Cuda. They would look KILLER on that sweeeeet baby blue Duster....
  9. I apologize.... I thought of Tommy Boy when the `67 was mentioned. My bad....
  10. My daily driver is a 1974 Dart Swinger. 225/auto/CD-Sirius stereo. That's it.... My Wife fly's around in this pocket-rocket. 2004 VW GTI 1.8 Turbo. I wanted to install a 75 shot of spray, but she poo-poo'ed that idea... Then there's my Mistress..... 1968 Barracuda 340-S with a few mods under the hood Then there a few hundred little ones scattered in the basement....
  11. I think you mean Tommy Boy. David Spade drives, and destroys... a B5 blue `67 B-body ragtop. Joe Dirt had that pathetic Daytona.... How about Corky with the `69 `Cuda fastback w/ the Daytona wing?
  12. Want to see something pretty funny? There's Top Deer.... ....and The Stag BTW: Top Gear is the best automotive programming on the tube in my opinion.
  13. Cool. In 6 minutes I had an answer! Thanks Dave. I'll have to stop by more often and keep an eye open. And in my size no less. Swee-eet!
  14. Hi guys... just popped in because something came to mind and I have a question. I'm in the process of going through EVERYTHING I own as I pack and move. As I was packing up some modeling supplies I was thinking of how great it's going to be to get back into building now that I'll have the room again. Then I started thinking about building the 1:1 replica of my personal car. In my head I was going through the items I know I have stashed for that future project and then I realized I'm mounting a set of Mickey Thompson drag radials on the car next month. Then I started thinking that I'll have to include a set for the model, but I've never seen a set in scale. Does anyone know if they are, or have been, manufactured by the aftermarket? I'd be looking for 1/25th. scale replicas of 275-60-15" Thanks for any & all help and I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable Holiday weekend!
  15. Being I work for Infiniti now and have also spent time at Nissan as a dealership technician, and all I can say is WOW! That 350Z looks incredible... they got a lot of it "right" reproducing it. Awesome link... I'll be forwarding that one around.
  16. I don't care if your from another planet, you can BUILD my friend! That Bee is one sweeeet build. The paint finish and dept is just about perfectly in-scale. And the large diameter steel wheels w/ caps look awesome! Personally I have dog dishes on both my Dart and Barracuda and like the look. And your speaking my language: Mopar Way cooooool......
  17. Mike, you must be very proud of Alex. He got A LOT of attention with his work. I'm sure you showed him a thing or two, patience being the most important. The both of you deserve a pat on the back.
  18. Thanks Rick! Amy & myself had a really nice time yesterday. It was great seeing everyone. And since this was my first visit to the new location, I think Tri-State deserves a HUGE thank you for continuing with the Greatest Scale Show on Earth. Tom & crew had everything running smoothly from all indications. And the extra room for vendors, exhibitors, and parking was a much appreciated change. Great job guys! As for me being away, don't think it hasn't gnawed at me. Every winter I'd wish I had the work space. Now that we're moving and I'll have room, I'm just easing back into the hobby. Visiting here is kind of like stretching before running. Looking forward to getting back at the workbench. It's been way too long....and I miss it.
  19. No kidding! You have a bright future in this hobby Alex. Take your time and hone your skills.... your well on your way! Congratulations! You do really nice work.
  20. If your Alex Forrester you do some beautiful work. I saw a few of your cars there, VERY nice stuff! Unfortuneately we left early too, about 2:00. But I wish you luck!
  21. It's plural:Models
  22. NNL East never fails to amaze me. I've missed the past few years and lost touch with many, but today was a great day. Not only did I get to see MANY people I haven't seen, but I also saw some incredible builds too. First and foremost: Anthony Rios. Wow.... Aside from being a super nice guy, this man can BUILD. His Nomad is jaw-dropping. My crappy photo skills don't do it justice... I know Gregg photographed it. Speaking of Gregg, it was great to see him in attendance. He looked a little wobbly... not sure if he was hurting, hung over, or a touch of both... but it was great seeing you Buddy. It's been too long. There were also a few sobering moments too: my friends Ron & Chiqi recovering from heart issues, friends Rick and Lynn battling debilitating aliments, and everyone else getting older and frailer. Just like me... Here's a link to my Fotki album. The first picture was someone's beautiful new Hemi Challenger in the parking lot. Man does that car push my button... and the last few shots are of a resin phantom I bought from a gentleman wearing a tie-dyed shirt in the back of the left vendors room. It's a `69 Barracuda Sedan Delivery. If anyone knows the person, please forward any info to me. I never got his name or contact, but the piece is pretty nice. Especially for the money. Enjoy! http://public.fotki.com/FASTBACK340/nnl-east-2010/ Password is Models
  23. Yeah... I went off the grid for a while. We're doing well considering our economy. I finished up the Barracuda last year, the BIGGEST model I've assembled yet! Here's a short clip of me scaring myself good with it.... http://s982.photobucket.com/albums/ae301/FASTBACK340/?action=view&current=Cuda_Burnout.flv Want to see what a former detail junkie does to his 1:1 toy? I have (at last count....) 9 original `68 Barracuda annuals. One of them will be a full-boogie replica of my car sometime down the road. We're finally moving into a larger house and I will have my hobby room back. I can't wait. Maybe we'll return to Toledo this Fall. I haven't been out there in at least 10 yrs. Stay well my friend! But no Fords for me.
  24. It's been a few years Amigo.... I'll see you tomorrow too. Me and Amy will be checking out the new location and re-connect with old friends. We haven't seen many of you guys in a while. And I'll probably buy something too....like I need more. Looking forward to tomorrow. It's been too long.
  25. Give Norm a buzz @ Replicas & Minuatures. I got one from him a few years ago.
