  1. Well …. It looks like it’s time to get the tooth paste out … my own fault for being sloppy I guess. I thought I had it but it seems I wasn’t quite as tight as I thought. BUT no bleed over on the door hinges or any other anomaly, which js a win but I am mad at myself for being too sloppy …. If the tooth paste does’t give me what I want I will touch it up with paint
  2. Ok … today is the day …… un mask …..
  3. Well, shucks ! That does look salvageable. It may take some thought for a new direction …. And an old truck with the paint coming off is a good thought …… this can be frustrating for sure but don’t let it stop this stop what is a very cool build. May just have to change direction a bit. I just unmasked my Hayes and have similar issues …. Keep going Ron.
  4. BAZINGA!!!! That looks great Lee , I have to check mine and see if it has the same issue …. Glad it worked !
  5. Ron, my fingers are crossed for a positive outcome. I have never tried the Scotch tape thing, I used to use regular masking tape but that had a hot or miss result. Lately I have opted to the. Tamiya kubuki tape, with careful placing and well burnishing done have had reasonable results. I used it on my Hayes which I shot the other day and am hoping for decent results….. maybe unmasking tomorrow….. depending on how the paint is cured. Like you, my experience hasn’t been stellar with acrylics. My go to was always Model Master enamels but now that someone thought to discontinue those, I am trying my had at lacquers, in the bottle with my airbrush, and so far excellent results … I am really looking forward to your unmasking, Ron, and my fingers are well crossed for a clean and happy result to your specifications ……???
  6. The bar goes up TWO notches for this one Ron ….. exceptionally nice job and well thought out… I’m very impressed, the end result looks really good!
  7. Glad you’re doing the rivets, Gary….. if I was to give that a go , it would look like a four year old on Red Bull did it ! Best of luck with a difficult task. Just wondering what the rail road guys do? Is there a tutorial or any ideas on the Micromark Tools site by chance? You tube for an idea?
  8. Beautifully realistic. And the bar goes up one more notch !
  9. Thanks Gary , I just thought that he has various scales available of existing stock, and I had just been at his site sniffing around, so it was font and center. ?
  10. Wow. What a ton of work went into that …. The paint is beautiful, the stripes are perfectly done, some very nice subtle touches on this. Super nice job.
  11. If that is your first truck, take a bow ! Super nice job, I really like what you did and am hoping you get the truck bug and do another. Really clean build. Looks great !
  12. Another thought … what about modeltruckers.com he took over from Jerry , maybe he might be of some help? Just a random thought. Jeff
  13. This is gonna be cooooooolllll
  14. Looks nice and straight to me … I never would have come up with that color combo…. That orange frame is going to make that cab color just pop … what a nice clean build. I would love to drive a truck looking that sweet !!!
  15. Hopefully something just a little bit different than the usual …. Thanks for checking in Lee….
  16. VERY accurate... well done !!
  17. MORE than my pleasure pal! This is going to be exciting. And another one off rare one. Maybe we should have a ‘Rare Build’ thread lol, the sky is the limit with this one. I’m excited to see where this goes ….
  18. Thanks Ron , I do hope I can live up to your description ??…that is my vision for sure but …. Lol. Thanks for the thought that the Freightliner stripes were a good idea. I hope I have enough to do the job … time will tell. I think “ah , almost have this one in the bag …. ThenI look at whats left and naw not so much .. still lots of small time consuming things to go yet …. Thanks for following and checking in, Ron
  19. Boy thats a fact ….. it was a great learning experience. Yes go for the long stacks. Also is that chrome paint worth the exorbitant cost? It sure is pricey, I just wonder if it actually works?
