Good to know, sure look like highly detailed products. But kinda hard to justiffy almost $10 added to less than $10 part.

Thanks John. Unfortunately I don't do FaceBook.

Cool build of a unique car. I like it!!?

Don't know if this question has been asked before, search did'nt show anything. 3D Model Specialties as seen on their website have what appear to be very highly detailed products. All scales too. Pricing varies by scale and different makers of the products. Shipping is pretty steep. Has anyone putchased from them??

"LT-1 Corvette Motor", "this is a hard to find rare car", "most convertables came with V6 automatic"???????????????? You were wise to walk away!!

Well IT'S finally done. I wanted to replicate my 1:1 car with the 1998 Firebird kit but out of the box this kit won't allow it, but heck it's close enough. Anyone who really knows the difference between the 2002 and earlier years of this car will notice that the WS6 wheels on earlier cars are different (and the center cap emblems on the 2002 car have the Pontiac logo as opposed to WS6 on the earlier cars). On this model I also added what would be aftermarket overlays on the Firebird on the front bumper, on the "Pontiac" on the driver side headlight door and the "Pontiac" script on the rear. Also, like my real car I put a white shifter ball on the shifter and tinted the rear window. One other thing about this model, there is no "TransAm" script on the doors and there is only 1 exhaust outlet so I added the missing tail pipe as directed by Joe (Mustang 1989) who gave me some other pointers having built this same model. Sooo, here it is!! The last 2 pictures include a previous TA model I built some time ago to also replicate a 1:1 car I owned.

Future 57 Chevy Gasser Build
TransAmMike replied to TransAmMike's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Yeah Guido, I did see that red and gold repaint. Actually, that car seems to have been painted differently a few times. I haven't really settled on an engine yet or intake system. -
They shoot horses, don't they?
TransAmMike replied to STYRENE-SURFER's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Your work on the front suspension, shocks and steering is awesome. I'm scratch building a somewhat similar front suspension for my 57 Chevy gasser but I don't have the patience (or ability) to go into the impeccable detail you're doing. You have given me some new ideas tho.??? -
Future 57 Chevy Gasser Build
TransAmMike replied to TransAmMike's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Switching gears here (Ha, no pun intended). Using the 57 Pro shop kit that I kinda botched up the paint on gonna do a Streetable Gasser along the lines of the photo (although the car in the picture is an all out Gasser). I've constructed the leaf springs for the front suspension and modified the frame to install the new front suspension. I'll post some pics in a day or so. Thanks for looking, Mike -
Now thats ONE rusty Bug. I guess no one will be driving it again????

Beautiful and sooooo real looking.??

Hi Jerremy (fellow Tennesseean here), looks good, what paint did you use?
-
Big 57 Chevy lover here.....beautiful car. I'm sure plenty of people would like those wheels but not exactly at the top of my list. Anyway, it's not a critisism of your choice. Very pretty build though?
-
Not a big fan of early 50's Fords but your build there looks outstanding. ??
-
Super nice build and I especially like the outdoors pictures.??

Anyone offer custom decals?
TransAmMike replied to realgone58's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I sent an email to Firebird Designs and got no reply. Oh well. -
????Geoff, since you like doing BMF so much maybe I'll start sending my models to the UK for your awesome work LOL!!!!!!!!
-
Not to beat a dead horse (LOL) I did some looking up about the underneath color and discovered that many or most were undercoated with black tar. UGH!!?
-
Yep, when I did my last 57 using that kit I decided on the red oxide only because it seemed some of the pro restorations had it that way. I'm pretty sure I looked at a website that is dedicated to the Tri-5 Chevies and that was what it said. BUT, like you and what I said earlier their are definately variations. And again you are doing an absolutely beautiful job and your bare metal foil prowess is outstanding.

Geoff, As a huge '57 BelAir (and former owner of one as well as my Dad being an owner of 2) fan you have nailed this build both in terms of quality of workmenship and accuracy. I do have to tell you though, the under chassis sheetmetal on most true restorations I've seen are red oxide though I have seen some painted body color or black. Please don't take this as a criticism, just pointing it out . At any rate, yep that paticular model has some madening issues. Looking forward to the completion, beautiful job!!!!!???

What do you drive?

Both very nice but even tho I'm also a Pontiac guy but the W-30 Cutlass looks great and would be my 1:1 choice.?
