  1. I'm about to do that to mine. Thanks for the heads up!
  2. I didn't have much time since I had groceries in the car, but did a quick walk around and got a few pics. I apologize for the poor quality of the photos, I didn't have my regular camera only my Fisher Price cell phone.
  3. Thrift store find. Not an original but the 1996 Ertl reissue, got it cheap enough there's no complaint from me!
  4. My son picked these up for me at an estate sale he went to. He sends me this picture with "would you be happy if I gave you these for Christmas?(he already knew the answer to that" In short I told him yes, he said he got them for a very reasonable price and they are complete. One can never have too many of the Hubley kits, especially Model A's.
  5. I haven't seen any Great Dane trailers at my local Ollies, just the Fruehauf and old IMC kit. Was in there yesterday and there were still a good number of kits. I thought the 20% off sale would've cleaned them out. Grabbed a couple more '32 Fords & one of the Snark missiles for my space kit stash.
  6. Don't see many of the other brands of bikes down here on the Space Coast of FL, it is overwhelmingly Harley country when it comes to touring bikes. Surprised to see this nice BMW R18 in the parking lot at the bank.
  7. Miller's Bar in Dearborn? Really enjoyed their simple burgers! Used to eat there every time I went to the Ford Archives researching "stuff".
  8. Same as above, no problems and have had better luck finding hard to find stuff through both Hobby Search & HLJ.
  9. This kit is probably the most aggravating & difficult kit I've tried to build in 35 years on modeling. The kit itself is nice, well detailed and the proportions are spot on. However the smaller scale (1/35), the parts count and brittle plastic make it a tedious build. I had several versions of this kit (bus, tow truck, etc) since I have weakness for any Model A/AA kit but I was so turned off by this one I traded the others off.
  10. Part of the reason I have no desire to go! My local Ollie's is always crowded, I can't imagine the pandemonium that would ensue on a night like this.
  11. That's pretty cool! I'd rather have Clarkson's Bentley which made a couple appearances on the most excellent Clarkson's Farm show.
  12. I will check my local Ollie's next week while I'm out running errands. They certainly have been surprising us lately. I fully expect the scalpers to hit Ollie's Night this evening and clean out whatever is on the shelves now.
  13. Seeing that Comet P-38 takes me back. I built one as a teenager and got it to fly pretty decent on rubber power. Haven't built stick & tissue in a while. Those old Comet kits built well and most of them flew well without too much adjustment.
  14. Now that the weather in Florida is starting to cool off a bit, a lot of the vintage iron is out & about. I was able to get pics of these today. Don't see many of those Lotus Elan on the road down here.
  15. I've had my hand in a few 1:1 squarecab Ford restos(& owned 2 myself) and every one I've ever seen had the white paint over a chrome panel. An NOS example a friend had years ago was the same way. Below is a photo of my unrestored '59 F-350 that I bought in 1997. Aside from the silver stripe on the dash, the rest of the dash is original paint, including the gauge bezel.
  16. I'm really surprised the Civil War Cannon hasn't resurfaced LOL. Not sure if it's company wide but I got this email about Ollie's night. Toys(and kits) are 25% off between 6-10pm on Sunday. I won't be able to make it due to other plans, but figured I'd get the word out in case y'alls local store is doing the same thing.
  17. The gauge panel has been painted wrong in that truck. Originally it was off white with chrome stars(unless it was a big truck then the tach, etc went here) and gauge rings were chrome as was the perimeter of the piece. Not a big deal, but it sure cheapens the look the dash!
  18. Merritt Island, FL Ollie's had the Monogram kits out this morning. No joy on the AMT '70 Galaxie taxi tho.
  19. Couldn't resist a couple '32's from Ollies.
  20. Splurged the $5 and got this ex Entex/Gakken now Minicraft 1/16 Jaguar kit from a local thrift store. Appears to be complete even with good decals.
  21. Saw this in Ollie's parking lot. Later on I ran across another 5 or 6 of the same type while out doing my Saturday morning errands.
  22. Merritt Island, FL Ollie's had no new kits. Not a wasted trip, snagged a couple 1/64 cars & some snacks. LOL
  23. Stopped by the infamous Hobby Lobby for some brushes and picked these up.
