AMT 1959 Cadillac Ambulance First Look
RSchnell replied to martinfan5's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I could be interested in this. No connection other than a customer, but Three Inches Under makes a lot of stuff that would pair well with this kit- https://www.threeinchesunder.com/search?q=1/25&page=2 -
I'm still having the same problems with not being able to leave likes & going to the next page in a thread. I'm on Chrome as well.

Ollie's strike again
RSchnell replied to GLMFAA1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The Merritt Island, FL Ollie's kit selection looked like it was frozen in time from the photos I took last week. Nothing new and not much sold of existing stock. Where's all the resellers? LOL I even walked out of there empty handed! -

Ollie's strike again
RSchnell replied to GLMFAA1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I think we're already seeing that. Usually Ollie's kits get wiped out pretty quick, but seems like these have been lingering on the shelf. Be interesting to see how many Ollie's kits show up at Modelpalooza in Kissimmee in 3 weeks! -
Parts Box - The Box Itself
RSchnell replied to JordanFordF1's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I take the easy & cheap way.. I store my loose parts in Vans shoe boxes and ziploc bags. The shoe boxes have flip top lids and stack nicely, saving room. The ziploc bags allow me to see everything in the bag easily without pawing through a drawer of loose parts. I'm still unpacking from the move so no photos, but here's a stock photo of the boxes I use. -

The local Ollie's had some new kits out, picked up a few. The '32 came from Michaels with a 30% off coupon, their selection is poor but it's next door to the grocery store so it makes it easy if I want one of the 4 kits they carry!

What did you see on the road today?
RSchnell replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Saw this rough as a cob Chevy II on my to get a Cheesteak & this Unibody Ford Pickup within a couple miles of each other. The Ford still had a Y-block judging by the exhaust. Also saw a nice AMX but unable to get a photo. -

I've been trying to buy this '67 Vette for several years. It went from a decent car to now the frame has rust issues and I'm 100% sure the birdcage is shot. This shot is from today's visit. I've owned several C1 & C2's over the years, but a '67 is the pinnacle for C2's. -
Same here. Hopefully it's just a glitch in the system.

I tend to watch older shows, that being said- Rockford Files The Fugitive Route 66 Seinfeld Taxi

Interesting video & in my opinion well done & factual. I've been a lifelong Ford historian my whole life, having inherited the interest from my Dad & Grandfather. If you really want to take an in depth dive into how Ford Motor Company worked during Henry Ford's reign, the book Ford Methods & Shops is the gospel for early Ford production. Internet Archive has an online edition you can read free. Reprints are available of varying quality. Original books are hard to find & expensive when you do. I was fortunate to get both of mine for under $200. https://archive.org/details/fordmethodsandf00faurgoog/page/n294/mode/2up Ford Industries was a booklet published by Ford during the 1920's. These too give valuable insight. My copies are packed away yet.

Waiting on the doorstep when I got home.... Previously built the GTI kit and liked it so much I bought another, the Torino I'd have never gotten had I not seen the thread here about this kit.

No worries, glad it helped! I used to hit every hole in the wall dealer in ever hole in the wall town I ran across in my travels back in the 90s when I was in the hevy truck export business. Sometimes I'd strike out- but digging out NOS parts from the 1930s-50s in the rafters & storage bins sure made up for it. A lot of oddball stuff(low volume) as you'd imagine, but ran across some real goodies too. I was able to get every piece of stainless, emblems, even a grill for the '62 Galaxie 390/375Hp Convert I was restoring at the time. The internet came along and educated everyone about everything. Back on topic, I'm not a Mustang guy, but I just might have to get one of these kits. It looks to be a real gem.

1940s & prior used the model designation. For instance Model A's used A for passenger cars & light trucks or AA if heavy truck, 1932 used B or BB for 4 cylinder, 18- was for the V8 cars. This went on until the new numbering system in 1952 B- 50s, C-60s, the system you're familiar with. I used to deal pretty heavily in pre 1960s NOS Ford parts as a side hustle. The ones that really throw you off are the Lincoln & Mercury stuff from the 40s, & it was not uncommon to find NOS Ford tractor parts mixed in lots when I'd buy out dealership inventory. Fun fact- the basic part number for an intake manifold is 9425. Ford hasn't changed that number since 1928! Im sure there's other instances but it's late & I can't recall.

Got there a bit late and some of the cars were already leaving, but what was left made for a nice visit. The cars were on display in front of Ron Jon Surf Shop-you've probably seen the stickers on cars all over the country, they give everyone a handful of them when you buy something there. I didn't have my regular camera, but here's a few pics from my phone.

Stopped in for some tacos at the local taco joint & this C3 was parked out front. Decent car, looked like it was well cared for during it's life. C3's are too new for me(though I've worked on my share of them) as far as Corvettes go, but that'd be a fun grocery getter. -

This might help answer a few questions from earlier in the thread. Noticed the shipping label on one of the Round 2 boxes I snagged(they didn't have any buggies so I grabbed an AMT box-LOL). Looks like this shipment came directly from Round 2, not Walmart or a wholesaler. 108 cases of kits in that shipment alone. Thought y'all might find it interesting. -

It was definitely a unique creation. I got stuck behind him on 528-doing 45 mph in the left lane. Idiot!
