  1. One of the very few modern shows I enjoyed watching!
  2. Don't have a spare and need one for your truck? No worries, just bolt a tractor wheel on and get on down the road! It's the right rear, and none of the 4 wheels matched!
  3. Nickel was an option starting in June 1925 and later on all 1926-1927 Model T's. As an aside, nickel plated shells were made of brass then plated, while the painted rad shells were regular steel. A plated shell and colored wheels did a lot to dress up the old T.
  4. Was in the record store the other day and found a couple things, thought of this thread. The trucking ones were in the free pile & the Merle Haggard album was $3. Can't wrong with Merle & a Model A!
  5. Looks like the original Windsor Maroon that you could get on '27 T's. You did a great job on that old kit! It's nice to see more stock builds on here.
  6. Very nice! I picked one of these up for $1 that was half built, I finished it, but it came out no where as nice as yours!
  7. I didn't realize he sold out. Makes me glad I ordered some stuff from him a couple years ago for a project I may never get to!
  8. http://www.corvettepromo.com/annual_issues/annual.php?nav=annual&subnav=c2 A good site for all things Corvette Promos!
  9. Nice find! Ford News was published from 1920-1942. It was primarily for employees of the various Ford Industries. I had a rather large collection of originals at one time until another collector wanted them more than I did. They make for good reading. I collected original Ford literature for years, downsized when it got to be a hassle keeping everything. Ford News isn't to be confused with Ford Times which was also a monthly publication, but given to buyers of Ford cars. Every Ford product had a magazine. Trucks had the magazine "Clues", etc etc.
  10. I sent an email to ICM asking about release date and if they had any photos of the kit itself. I got this reply. Looks like the 4th quarter of this year for release.
  11. Nice set of photos! Looks like the geese were enjoying the show too!
  12. Model T's are a lot of fun! I've never owned one but have worked on a bunch of them. While limited by where you can drive it, a Model T is one of the cheapest old cars you can buy.
  13. Very nice build!
  14. I'd be up for any and all of these! I'd love to see a 66-70 Falcon too. Not holding my breath on that one.
  15. My wallet is quite safe this month!
  16. These are the only ones I have pics of. Have a few more packed away. All 3 are pretty much box stock, the Merc has a flathead instead of the Cadillac mill that came in the Revell kit.
  17. This '53 Buick hardtop snuck into my neighborhood. With PA tags, he's a long way from home!
  18. When I was younger I was big into the cruise in type shows. Drove either the Model A, '62 Galaxie Convert or the '61 Corvette. Nowadays I seldom go to any, it's usually the same cars in the same parking spot month after month- at least the ones around here. Pretty much same reason I quit going to swap meets, not much interests me. My tastes skew towards older cars and most cruise-ins around here look like buy here pay here car lots.
  19. Just finished re-reading Astronaut Michael Collins' book, Carrying the Fire. One of the finest astronaut autobiographies written. In my opinion! I first read it 10-12 years ago figured it was time to give it a revisit. Started in on a book about the Avro Lancaster by John Nichol. Like his other books it is well written and isn't a dry history book, it's more of personal accounts of the people that flew the aircraft. Recommended if you're into WW2 aviation like I am.
  20. Nice! Dig up an 8yr old thread and post nothing but a pic of box art?
  21. There's good & bad in every hobby. I was heavily involved(and still am to a much lesser extent) involved in the world of C1 & C2 Corvette restoration. You'd have one guy with a cobbled together '74 Coupe with hardware store fasteners & Summit chrome valve covers acting like an elitist know it all, while another guy with a Bloomington Gold & Duntov award winning '55 Corvette that's the nicest guy in the room even going as far letting you drive that very car "because you bought a round of beer the night before". I dated a woman very briefly who was into the dog show scene big time. What you describe is what I noticed as well. It was a real eye opening experience. Setting up obstacle courses in the yard for the dog competitions, traveling 100 miles each way so the dog could do jumps in the water then turn around and drive 100 miles back home. Ended up breaking it off with her because of the dogs. She had the nerve to bring up my model hobby. I told her "They don't eat any groceries nor do they dookie all over the floor if I don't get home in time.
  22. I recently unloaded about 100 kits from my stash. Of course that means I'll end up buying 200 to fill the holes on the shelves! I build aircraft & space aside from cars, lately I've been doing some soul searching coming to the realization even if I did build everything, where would I display it?
  23. There are a couple Model A Sedan kits, but are 1/25. AMT 1928 Ford Tudor - can be a hard kit to find but they do turn up with patience. Revell/Monogram 1931 Ford Tudor - never seen a stock version of this kit, but using parts from the 1931 Ford Woody Wagon kit you can build a stock Tudor Sedan Hubley/Gabriel/JE Scale Models - 30-31 Fordor/Town Sedan. This is a metal kit and scales out around 1/20 I believe but it's the only game in town if you want a Fordor Sedan. As Casey mentioned, the old Entex/Minicraft '31 Tudor Sedan in 1/16 scale but these are getting hard to find. I'd love to see all the old Entex Model A kits reissued. I restore 1:1 Model A's and like to collect the Model A kits to go with the actual car.
  24. Thanks for posting the pics! They confirm that I need to pickup(get it?) a couple of these when they hit the shelves.
  25. Nice work! We don't see enough early cars being posted here!
