  1. Out running errands today & saw a few. The '64 Impala wagon was a surprise, hoping that shop is building the car and not using it for parts!
  2. Stopped by the not so LHS for some paint. Picked up the new tool Airfix Anson which appears to be a great kit & deserving of the internet hype upon inspection. Snagged the B-17 & Blenheim because why not?
  3. Been putting in applications over by the new place. It's no wonder the job market is the way it is if my scenario is like everyone else's. I've gotten quite a few interview requests. Go to set up an interview time and nothing. No call back, no confirmation, nothing. Today was the 7th time that has occured out of 11 interview requests. Just absolutely baffling! Maybe it's time to take an entry level position somewhere while I buy myself a job(start another company).
  4. I've been hypoglycemic since I was a kid. I understand what you're dealing with as it happens to me too! Like in your case my doctors have never been able to determine my root cause either. I've just learned to live with it.
  5. Being that I live about 45 minutes from Disney world, the "antique malls" here locally are just slam packed full of Disney stuff, with obscene prices. Week after week I see the same stuff sitting too. Of course I never seem to find any model kits which is the whole reason I went in in the first place! Alot of the older stuff had value at one time. I used to collect Ford memorabilia, dealership signs, accessory stuff like touch up paint cans, Ford china that was used in the factory cafeterias, Ford World's Fair exhibit stuff, factory employee badges, etc etc pretty much anything Ford related from the 1909-1965 period. I sold off 98% of the collection when I did the first big purge in 2018. Glad I did as everything except the signs has tanked in value since then. I didn't collect it for financial return, it was a side hobby from my restoration of the real cars.. LOL I'm seeing a similar thing now with antique furniture. I've had several pieces of original arts & crafts/Mission style furniture for sale at quite reasonable prices with no takers.
  6. I think that holds true with Nascar stuff in general. I see so much of that stuff at swap meets dirt cheap, with no buyers.
  7. Having a beer with an old friend. Did some work on this Model A Woody about a year before this pic was taken. Owner passed on and the family put the car up for auction. Absolutely no room in a Model A Woody wagon for a bigger guy such as myself.
  8. I hope the Merritt Island store has more of those Falcon Rancheros, I have business over that way Wednesday morning! As an aside, I looked at the dates on the three kits I got Sunday. They all date from 2021. Makes you wonder if they really have been sitting somewhere all this time. It really amazes me Round 2 keeps popping out reissues of reissues, how many times has the '50 Ford convertible or '34 Ford Pickup, etc etc been reissued? You'd think they would reach market saturation at some point. Maybe they have and that's why Ollie's is getting them. It will be interesting to see what they put out around Christmas time.
  9. Did some trading with Sam I Am here on the forum and now have another '62 Ford Convert. Think this will be my next project once I get my 2 current builds done.
  10. Great trade with Sam I Am. Shipping was fast and got one of my grails crossed off the list.
  11. After the last Model show/swap a couple weeks ago, I told my son on the way home "I'm not buying any more kits until Modelpalooza( one of the better model swap shows held every October in Kissimmee, FL) not looking forward to boxing up 600+ kits for the move to the coast." Stopped by Ollie's this morning and that went out the window.
  12. Stopped by the local Ollie's on my way to the grocery store this morning. Not quite the selection as other's have posted, but I snagged 2 of the Galaxie's and a Model T. These were in two different locations in the store.
  13. I will have to check the couple Ollie's around me. Florida is hit or miss when it comes to kits. Last time neither the Lakeland or the Merritt Island stores had kits.
  14. I second this. I've built a couple of the snap kits and they are quite nice. Plentiful too, I got mine at model shows for $5 each.
  15. Very nice work! Reminds me of all those Gene Tracy jokes about Carolina Freight drivers, most of whom would never have kept their truck as clean as yours!
  16. I was fortunate that my Dad was into building as was my grandfather who lived next door. My grandfather was by all definition of the term a Master Modeler. The first car kit that I remember buying with my own money was the old Pyro/Lindberg 1/32 1934 Ford. I was 6 or 7. The first kit I got for a gift around that same age was the old Entex Model A Tudor meant to be a joint project between me & my dad to match his 1:1 Tudor Sedan. I'd love to find another one of these kits in this boxing! The third pic is of me & the old man in his Model A with a Model A model in my hand during a Christmas parade.
  17. Took a load of stuff over to my other place on the coast early this morning. After the offload, I stopped at the Waffle House for breakfast. While waiting for groceries, I checked my email- I have a buyer for the rest of my C1 & C2 Corvette parts. That was a major hassle solved as I'm not moving 4 speeds, fiberglass parts, etc. The manager at the Waffle House comp'ed my meal because "you're in here all the time". Just one of those rare days where everything goes smoothly!
  18. A few pics from today. I didn't get a chance to look over the contest entries as they had it roped off for judging. One of the better shows in Florida, lots of good deals!
  19. Got these at the Pamscon show today, filled in a few gaps for the car side of things and a few more vintage Airfix kits for my aircraft collection.
  20. I have knee issues, one of which is arthritis that is progressing faster than I care to admit. You've gotten some good advice in this thread. Part of the reason I'm moving to the coast is to be able to go for a swim whenever I can. The saltwater in the ocean has tremendous properties that are desirable to the human body. Granted not everyone can do this, but it's worth posting.
  21. Here's a couple photos from last year's show. Quite a few car/truck kit vendors....
  22. I went to this show last year and scored some great deals. If you're in central FL, it's worth the visit. I have no connection to the event other than as a buyer. If you attend let me know, always up to meet folks from the forum!
  23. For ones that aren't in cabinets, I use a bulb type blower used on camera equipment. It works great for other things like computer keyboards, etc. You can get them fairly reasonable off Amazon.
  24. As a photographer who does it for income, there is no reason to blur out the names. In public there is no reasonable expectation of privacy. It's no different than me posting a business card on those little bulletin boards you see in restaurants. You shouldn't have any problems!
