Finally got a chance to take a picture.

We brought it home this evening. She loves it. Will be ordering accessories for it the next few days. I will get pictures when the weather is nice, probably Wednesday. Its the Alto Blue metallic with black alloy wheels.

The pics don't show it well, but the air cleaner is sitting on the valve cover. I can't lower it any more than it is. I am contemplating the K&N look, but not doing anything quite yet. I'll be away from the bench for a few days, that will give me some time to think on it. Maybe there is a small rectangular air cleaner i could get down tighter to the carb in my spares box.

Wow, great detail. Should have ported out the heads while you were at it. I think I'll just level off the top of the block...

I'll give updates for sure. First impression on the test drive, its a pretty nice little truck thing. When I mentioned I could see myself hunting/trapping out of it, my wife gave me "the look". I guess that's off limits. We are travelling to Colorado and Wyoming end of June, so we'll get some miles on it then for sure. We are getting the XLT trim, with the turbo 4 and AWD. I am out of town tomorrow and Saturday, so signing then. It's out getting undercoated today.

Here's the pic from the revell 68 instructions (from Scalemates). Looks like the cylinder stagger is correct, but they have the distributor going through the intake. Could always remove the back "flange" of the intake to look closer. And extend the post on the kit distributor.

And that is one I don't have, but have been considering. I guess it might be time.

We verified that the new Ford Maverick my wife has been eye balling will fit in our small garage. We sign the papers on Monday. Happy wife, happy life.

Thank you, i was doing some sleuthing also and found the distributor issue. I will have to dig through my stash and see if I can find a Pontiac single barrel carb intake. That's assuming the kit engines are actually Pontiac's and not just generic SBC's. I will be curious to see if the model intakes have the water crossover molded with the intake, the water pump, or a separate piece.

I started in n engine assembly of the 1967 GTO last night. Boy, I knew that kit wasn't the best, but boy oh boy. So, I got out the 66 GTO kit, and it looks like I will be using everything except for the interior and body from the 66 kit. The 66 engine has a tri-power intake setup, and I need a single 4 barrel setup. Would a SBC manifold work on the Pontiac engine? I have the manifold from the Revell 65 Chevy pickup that I could use if that works. I checked the Revell Pontiac parts pack engine, and it has the tri-power setup also.

Wow, those are close. I agree, with some black wash and center cap detailing, they would be very close.

I did repaint the roof, and its better now. Still thinking about the air cleaner issue. Not sure what to do about it quite yet. Hearing that the OEM air cleaners were tight makes me feel not so bad about what I did.

The wife brought it home on a test drive this afternoon, and it fits like a glove. Even with the stock antenna. We have an appointment Monday to sign papers.

Looking forward to seeing how the emblems turn out. Have been thinking about trying that method myself. That body kit looks really sweet on the truck. Watched your youtube video, and those wheel backs almost look like brakes inside those wheels. I'd be tempted to paint them "steel" or some similar color. I think black my make the wheels disappear a bit.

I haven't been on the forum that long, but I always enjoyed his posts and threads. Will miss him for sure, RIP.

On second look, that pic is in Columbus, WI, they must have been visiting Mom's parents.

After a lot of digging on my computer, I found the one and only picture we know of that has the car in it. My dad and mom standing next to it, must be summer of 1970, Sault Ste Marie, MI. The wheels look like the lower option in my previous post. Dad added '68 GTO side markers to the car, cause he liked how they looked. I only remember the car with riveted on galvanized lower on the rear quarters, darn WI road salt.

The 6 foot door leads into a 7 foot high basement. House was built in the 50s. Thats pretty common around here. We will be test driving it this afternoon. Already found an aftermarket antenna that is 4 inches shorter than OEM. so, it should fit.

I am gathering the parts, finally, to build my dad's GTO. The car had steel wheels, but he can't remember what the wheel covers looked like. I found these two styles while searching the web. Unfortunately, we don't have any pictures of the actual car. Any ideas if these are available? I am using the, um, less than desirable 67 GTO kit as a base. Thanks.
