What did you see on the road today?
ksnow replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Walking into the Fleet Farm last night, stopped and chatted with the owner of an all numbers matching, fairly original (convertible top replaced, stainless brake and fuel lines, epoxied frame) 1965 GTO. Charcoal blue, dark (blue or black) interior with a white top. He bought it in the early 80s, has owned it since. Original tri-power motor, 4 speed, all drum brakes. Still has the AM radio. Had aftermarket 5 spoke grey (day 2ish) wheels. All numbers matching and documented from Pontiac. Stunning car to me. He offered it for sale, I didn't even ask a number. A truly beautiful car. And I completely forgot to take any pics. -
Great build, love all the detail work. Its amazing how a base coat can so drastically change the color coat.

I'll be watching this, as my dad wants me to build one of his long gone 1:1.

Sweet looking 442. The details and trim look amazing. The color is definitely eye catching.

Saw a couple antiques on the road so I followed them into town. Its some sort of tour group. Packard, Pacers, Rolls' and others. I know next to nothing about these cars, but they are very interesting and in very nice condition. -
That turned out really nice. Paint looks smooth, engine looks great. Nice job.

Inexpensive paint booth recommendations

Don't forget a switch, wire and a fuse holder. I really like my paint booth, no smell in the shop at all when using rattle cans. -

Here is the exact blower I used: https://www.wholesalemarine.com/shurflo-4-yellow-tail-blower.html And the power supply https://www.boogeylights.com/10-amp-110vac-to-12vdc-power-converter/ Prices have gone up since I built mine last year. Add a few crimp connectors, an in-line fuse holder and a 12 volt switch. and a little wire. -

Between the fan and the power supply, I've got $70 in my booth. I bought the supply through an LED light place, I wanted a 10 amp supply, cause the fan calls for a 10 amp fuse. Used an automotive fuse holder and a 12 volt switch for on and off. No messing around with 110 wiring. It amazes me how so many people will work so hard to do it any way but the right way. -

I read and rearead the paint booth sticky in this forum. If I am going to do it, I might as well do it right. And yes, fans are much better at pulling air than pushing air. -

Here is my low cost solution. 12 volt power supply and a 12 volt bilge fan. A furnace filter and some dryer ducting. Leftover paneling from a home improvement project. Works very well with spray paint. -
Thanks guys, it definitely hurts. Hands down the only bad part about owning a dog.

It sucks. I had tried to ready myself for it. I knew it wasn't going to be good. But I still broke down like a baby when I heard it. At least he didn't suffer. He napped in my lap every day, slept beside me at night. It's the little things I miss, like seeing him laying in his bed, or hearing his nails on the floor.

Had to say goodbye to BuckShot yesterday, blood cancer or some such big word I can't remember. First time in 18 years we haven't had a dog in the house. Sure is quiet.

I have decent results with whitewall cleaner. Pretty sure it has bleach in it. Takes the chrome off well, most of the time it also takes off the "primer" underneath.

Turned out pretty darn nice. Love the color. The closed hood is a good look. Great save on the hood paint.

Cool build. When I first saw the title, I thought I'd see this: -
Great save there. Can't wait to see this one under glass.
