*1960 Ford Ranchero*
ksnow replied to Zippi's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I like that engine look the best. If you had decided to tub the back and put massive meats under it, then I'd have wanted something sticking up out of the hood. -
That turned out really, really nice. The purple and black work really well together and the color accents really tie it all together.

My uncle built a Ford hot rod in the early 90's. Everyone told him to just drop in a small block Chevy, he insisted on a Ford motor. After it was done, he got a lot of compliments for sticking with a Ford powerplant. -
Nice build. I really like all of the little body color accents.
-
Sweet looking hot rod. Great attention to detail. I am not a huge fan of the body style, but this build may have inspired me to at least add one to the stash.

In the two pics, does the white one have the chrome trim around the bed and back window? I will agree that the "flare" on the model looks out of place. Perhaps an overdone drip rail? Spoiler for a camper shell? Tires and wheels still look good. The red pic looks very similar to your mock up. -

That tire and wheel combo really makes a difference. I like it. Looking forward to seeing it together. -
Very neat build. I really like the tubing on the headers, really makes it look more realistic.

Awesome work so far and a great looking real car to simulate. I am definitely following this build.

I'll be honest Mike, this was my first time trying polish and future together. I polished the hood, then wiped it well with a clean, soft cloth. Then I put the future on with a wide brush, pretty heavy. The future seemed to run right to the edges and I definitely had a corner that had no future on it. Is there a cleaner I should have used in between the polish and future? Maybe just soap and water? No problem with time, I've been in and out on road trips for work for the past few months, so not much happening at the model bench.

What did you see on the road today?
ksnow replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Wife sent me this pic on Saturday. In a town near Road America racetrack. My brain wants to say highly modified 2nd gen corvette, but not sure. -
TransAmMike, the Future was over rustoleum grey primer and rustoleum gloss black that had been polished.
-
Awesome start. Great engine detail.
-
I tried some future on a hood. The finish crackled on me and now I need to strip and repaint. What would be the best chemical to strip the future? I am not too worried about the paint underneath as I need to repaint anyway. Thanks.

I'll get two for sure.

Great looking car. Love those old race cars.

Put me in for the next round with the 77 Camaro. Should be able to finish it up this time. -
"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!

I'm going to have to roll my camaro over to the next round. Last minute work trip popped up and I'll be out through the end of the month. Hope everyone else gets 'er done. -
Not much. We had added an electric fan to the radiator to try to help with a recurring overheating issue, until we replaced the head gasket. We ran a 72 inch mower deck off the back. The tractor was well used before I ever got on it. Missing the fender lights, brakes never worked, etc. Oh, we did have a vertical exhaust pipe with a flapper on it.
-
Finished up pretty darn nice. Good work with the BMF.
-
Very cool diorama. Excellent detail and weathering. Mowed a lot of grass sitting on one of those tractors.
-
Good job on the BMF. I hear you about nerve wracking. Looking forward to seeing the vent windows done.

Got a model roundup delivery today. Decal film, set and solvent. As well as the Revell 56 chevy.

Took a drive out there on Saturday. Nice little shop with a decent, albeit small, selection of kits. Different stuff than HL for sure. Also happened to be a classic car cruise drive in/show/cruise in town, so got to see some really cool cars and trucks.

What Did You Accomplish Today? (Model Car Work)
ksnow replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Got my first try at BMF in 25 years done today. Turned out okay, definitely learned the value of a BRAND new knife blade. I may end up doing the window trim also now. Not happy with how the sharpie looks next to the BMF.
