Favorite/greatest body style ever?
ksnow replied to Venom's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Lots of great looking cars here. Back to my youth, and nothing said sexy horsepower to me like the last gen Trans Ams. -
Wow, impressive builds. And a great selection of iconic American muscle, both on and off the track.

Very nice builds, and great idea.

"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!

When I was turning wrenches at a Cadillac dealer around 03 or 04, we had a customer with 24 inch spinners on their Escalade, The spinning part had actual wood grain inserts. -

Got the interior on the Camaro assembled last night and a little chassis detailing done. This kit is far from being a nice kit. I test fit the bumpers, neither the stock or the custom bumpers really fit at all. Stock bumpers are a true 1/8 inch too wide and the customs don't match the body curves at all. Measured the wheel base several times, and I swear the body wheelbase is shorter than the chassis. The wheels don't look right in the wheel wells, no matter where I position the body on the chassis. Oh well, I will soldier on and get it done. -

In the smaller scale, I had luck by stripping the wheels. Then paint them gold, I used rattle can gold. Then I picked out the ridges, center caps and lug nuts with a fine molotow pen.

Looks really good. The black paint looks good.

Bet that could pop one heck of a wheel stand. Agreed, wierd, kinda cute. Definitely a great job on it.

"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!
ksnow replied to Snake45's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Well, I dug through what I had started on the 77 camaro build. Most of the chrome will have to be stripped, the flash is horrible on the tree. I am rethinking building it as a plain jane, berlinetta. The kit, as bad as it is, has some decent custom front and rear pans and split bumpers. So, I am thinking spectator drag type build. Something someone rescued and built enough to race for fun. To add to the fun, the kit has no instructions and only the wierd, trans am esque decals. It will be a basic, no details build for sure. -

Wow, you guys are really going at it. I better get off my behind and start working on my camaro. Been busy with the new chicks and a new exhaust on the Harley. Looks like next week I will have time to dive back in. Great work so far. -

Heck, I started getting AARP mail when I was 39, that sure as heck isn't old. -
Yesterday was the day Dixie said she was done. Couldn't stand and her eyes were twitching non-stop. She can lay out in the breeze and sunshine forever now. Miss her terribly.

Finish date was last week? Sheesh, over before I knew what happened. -
Brutalform, so sad to read that. Just remember those happy years. We are facing the same time with our 16 year old girl. She's been great, but the downhill slide is getting worse.

Sounds like a great build idea. I like seeing non Trans Am Firebird builds.

"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!

Well, I guess I'll throw my hat in the ring. This kit was started in 97 or 98. I was aiming to replicate a coworkers camaro she bought new in 77. I filled in the t tops and was prepping to add a vinyl half top. Her car was a dark brown with a tannish top. Plain trim, no spoiler. Her's had the 6 cylinder, at the time i had no donor 6's, so i installed the kits v8. She passed a few years ago, i figure i should still finish it up the way i intended to. Here's the kit I started with and where it was when I boxed it up. -

I'll dig out one of my old projects and see what state it is in. Maybe I'll join in this round. Might have to wait until next round, spring is busy around here with gardens and chicks. -
"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!

That chevelle is absolutely stunning. What are the basic rules to enter a build? I have a few builds started 20 years ago that could use some inspiration to finish. -
Any chance you can relay what was said?
-
What exactly is bad about those kits? I have all of them waiting to be built. My first build was the 69 T/A, I don't remember any issues with it, but I was new to model cars. Is there a good 67GTO kit?
-
I just watched the truck race highlights. Most entertaining racing I have seen in 20 years from NASCAR. Previous to that was the first year of the trucks at Daytona. They are trying to stop the decline in viewership.
