  1. Not sure of the year, best guess is mid 60s, Pontiac Safari wagon. Looked nice.
  2. I'm starting on a 1970 Buick GSX. I want to build it stock. Curious what color the transmission pan should be. It is chromed in the kit. On the net, I can't find any good pictures of the transmission area. I did find out the valve covers were chrome for stage 1 cars. If a chrome pan was a fairly standard "period" replacement, I may just leave it.
  3. Superb weathering. Looks very realistic.
  4. Wow, that is sexy. Very inspirational build you have here.
  5. Amazing build. Superb detailing. Incredible photography also.
  6. Definitely a head turner. Really like the engine compartment detailing. Great build.
  7. Great build and thank you for the WIP thread. I took lots of notes about vinyl tops for a Camaro project I am working on.
  8. Nice set of mustangs. I like how you display them in the diorama.
  9. Looks like a great start. Looking forward to the rest of the build.
  10. Picked this up for something completely different to build. Yes, it was shipped only in the plastic envelope.
  11. Got the 97 TA final assembly mocked up. Need to work on the roof to body fit a touch. Also need to finish a few underhood details and install the exhaust tips.
  12. My above mentioned opinion is definitely jaded from 10 years of having to service 22 plus inch rims and tires on vehicles never designed for them. Wood grain insert chrome spinners on 24s on an escalade still makes my back and shoulders ache.
  13. My dad has been cleaning up his shop where I started working on models 20 plus years ago. He brought me a bag full of old testor's spray paints. I have the interstate batteries monogram kit to go with the green 18 paint. The yellow testor's goes back to pinewood derby cars from 1984 or so. The can missing the label is insignia red, from a B-17 build. Not sure if I'm brave enough to try any of them on anything nice.
  14. I can't stand them. Not just looks either. They ride like lumber wagons. They are hard on vehicles and suspension. They handle very poorly. And try to replace low profile tires. They are a real pain.
  15. Very nice builds. Love those old triplanes.
  16. That's what I was thinking. Thanks.
  17. Per can instructions, I gave it "several", about 5, minutes between coats. To the best of my knowledge, I never put a clear coat on the body after the black color coat. It may be that I just applied too much, too fast. I thought I was applying light enough coats.
  18. That's hilarious. I loved that show as a kid.
  19. Well, another body gets to go for a dip in the purple pond. I had painted this TA body about 23 years ago, then life got in the way. I started building again recently and dug this out. Got the striping decals on, as bad as they were and finally got the bird on the hood. I picked up what I thought was glosscote, but is actually rustoleum clear enamel. The first light coat looked good, second had a few spots that looked like dust, and the third coat went south. All the paint crackled, but the decals look fine, interesting. I have no idea what paint the black color coat was, best guess would be cheap rattle can, I was 18 or 19 when I painted it. This is a 1978 AMT/Ertl Trans Am kit. Now I have to decide on a paint scheme and how hard I want to search for decals..
  20. I grew up on hair bands and heavy metal. Still like all of that music, and newer heavy metal. While working in Europe, a guy turned me on to Sabaton. Awesome music and a fun way to learn some history.
  21. Very nice, clean build.
  22. Those wheels look good. Not too over the top modern looking.
  23. Hmm, I'll have to find some of that stuff. The gold pin stripes are giving me a fit on this 25 year old AMT trans am kit I am working on.
  24. That interior looks fantastic. Really pops against the white body. And the blue stripe compliments everything.
