  1. espo, I have not tried that. I will look into that option tonight. A little flexibility would be a good thing, to let me get everything lined up before the adhesive cures. Ill have to look for a set of small bits, I don't think my numbered set goes that small.
  2. I am slowly working on an AMT/Ertl 1997 Trans Am kit that I started about 20 years ago. Trying to get the radiator and hoses glued in, but having a heck of ta time trying to keep everything stay and "straight" until glue sets. I tried tweezers and thick CA last night, the hoses kept spinning in the tweezers. After 30 seconds, the CA hadn't set up enough to hole the upper end of the hose to the water pump and my hand cramped. I am pondering making some sort of jig and alignment blocks to hold this thing in place. Anyone build this kit and have any suggestions? Another night like last night and this might go back in the box for another 20 years.
  3. Slotto, those look great. Mine just got the bleche white treatment this weekend. I will be spraying them gold and trying a silver sharpie for the details.
  4. Looking really good. Red and white look classic. The interior looks very sharp.
  5. Looks awesome. I am also curious which year. I have a '79 10th anniversary in that scale. Always looking for inspiration.
  6. Stopped in to see if anything caught my eye. Was planning in picking up the tamiya painting stand, which I saw there last time. Alas, they did not have it. I did see the land rover and the belvidere. I picked up the 55 Chevrolet Cameo and the 1961 Impala SS. Hard to resist 40% off. I also picked up supplies to try my hand at weathering one of my future pickup builds.
  7. Thank you Mark and Plowboy. Losing the plating is definitely an option. That would crisp up the detail a lot.
  8. Thanks, espo. I will look for those harder q-tips. I was going to matte or satin coat the wheels after painting and detailing to better simulate the aluminum finish on the originals. I'll put up pictures when I get them done to my liking.
  9. Starting to build up a 1977 Trans Am, from an older Ertl kit. The wheels are on the chrome tree. They are supposed to be the gold snowflakes, with gold on the inside and the outer surfaces remain chrome, which I will dullcote. Any hints for the easiest way to do this? Was thinking to paint the wheels gold and wipe off the paint on the high parts, similar to a wash. Any other ideas? Here's a pic of what the wheels look like in 1:1.
  10. I love this shop. Everything is just right. That tool box is a great touch. Any plans for a top to it? Most of the boxes in the real world have plastic, steel or wood tops.
  11. Got the interior tub into the body and the body dry fit onto the chassis on the Dodge Ram VTS. It is slowly coming together. And starting to paint up the engine parts for a 1997 T/A.
  12. Welcome. Deer and Harley's don't mix. I start to get nervous riding mine come mid October.
  13. Sheboygan county here, just outside the Northern Kettles.
  14. I grew up in Racine, parents still live there.
  15. Are you using acrylic paints?
  16. Nice looking pair of TA's.
  17. Brutalform, those bodies look great. The panel lines look awesome. I was asking about the accent more for using on engines and drivetrain components. I wanted to paint them first, then use the panel accent to add depth. I use testor's enamels, guess I will have to look at adding a clear coat over the enamel before the accent.
  18. Just got my first bottle the other day. The directions on the bottle say do not apply over enamel. Am I reading that right? Do I need to put a clear coat over any enamel painted part I want to use the panel line accent on? Thank you.
  19. Got an order in the mail with some paint colors I needed and these two kits. I like the service truck options included with these vintage pickups.
  20. I've seen something like that in Europe, to save your parking spot when you are gone. Just guessing.
  21. Very nice. The white looks real classy. I missed buying one exactly like that by 15 minutes back in 98 or so.
  22. Very nice work there. I love the paint color and how it lets the engine stand out.
  23. Getting the v-10 finished up for my Ram VTS. Starting on the interior. First build in 20 years, definitely some areas to improve on.
  24. No time for pics while driving, but saw my first ever Chevrolet Corvair pickup, thingy. Turquoise and white, very nicely done. Not my cup of tea, but definitely something different.
  25. Picked up a bottle of model master semi gloss black and this "used" kit. All parts are present and no damage at all.
