Nissan Skyline GT-R R35
The Creative Explorer replied to The Creative Explorer's topic in WIP: Model Cars
It just came back again But I got it somehow smooth and put it in its new coloured jacket. And after a airbrush gimmick, this is how it looks now: -
Time for a new project, Last saturday I bought me a new Aoshima Skyline and wanted to start on it right away, although I would like to finish up the Merc first. But since the Merc is now on hold, due to hardening of the paint, I thought I could justify it for myself to start on the R35 I've tried to use the Alclad primer, but I don't like it much. It is way to agressive with plastic, but it makes the moldlines pop up again. Even though this one is sandable, I will not buy a new one. I will keep using my old primer, which works better imho. Some pictures: This is what the primer does, it was sanded flat before primer got on: And the mountingtabs came right through the bumper aswell. Back to sanding Even the old glue-tric didnt work

1949 Mercury *update 3: 14-12*

Thanks! Bradley; thanks for the tip. I was going to paint it silver, but chrome does make more sense. I couldn't get it done with thinner, so I scraped the paint off with a toothpick. And the last update for now, I have to wait for the body to harden out, so I can polish it and do some final assembly. In the last past days, I was able to fabricate the engine, chassis and interior. -
For a upcoming airbrush demo, I chose this kit since it does has a name which goes well with my demo. I started slowly on this kit, but what a disappointing kit. From the looks of it, it must be quite an old AMT kit, but hey, it's got a 'Hemi! haha. Some pictures: Box Body, chassis and trailer wheels Engine, tub and chrome And the rest already Sanded off the hoodpins Depthened the panellines And put it in it's basecoat, although I am not satisfied and will redo this.

1949 Mercury *update 3: 14-12*
The Creative Explorer replied to The Creative Explorer's topic in WIP: Model Cars
In the meanwhile works continues on the Merc, I started working on the chassis and on the engine. Basically keeping it with the box-stock, since it looks pretty good. I did turn the custom wheel tires into whitewalls, the kit did came with whitewalls, but only for the smaller 'sombrero'wheels. And with the style I have chosen, it just didnt seem right with blakc tires, so I turned them white. And I do like it a lot better. For the rest there is not a whole lot to update, I did put a candy-red coat and some extra clear coats on top of the car and will soon start on the interior. -
1/8 Pontiac Firebird Turbo Trans-Am
The Creative Explorer replied to The Creative Explorer's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thanks for the reply's! Rodney, I didn't say you promised me anything, the kit itself promised to be worthy to be build. Except for the engine, everything was in good nick. William, now you know ;-) there are a few more in 1/8, but I wish there were some more, like a Superbird or any '70's Mopar. If you want a very nice engine for the Deuce; check the Lindberg dragster kit. Comes with front-mounted charger, top-mounted charger and a few carb setup's. The kit comes with two engines, so you don't even have to waste a kit. -

Thanks guys! I hope it is any good @Jim: I used a mask from Aircolor Technik from Germany; Flammen 1. But I would guess any flame mask will do the trick. I did add the clear today to the body and accept for some orangepeel and a few mistakes, it is one very important step in the process, it blends the colors and brings life to the whole thing: -
De aanwinsten van afgelopen week: BEcause I liked the 1/12 Datsun I bought 2 weeks ago, I decided to get another one: Some shopping in Belgium: Toyota Corolla AE86 Nissan Skyline Celica Ferrari F40 Just amazingly cool: And for entertainment:

I basically finished my Magnum and wanted another airbrush experiment, I was thinking of it last week and suddenly it came to me; I wanted to learn how to do flames, I never painted flames before, so it was a good way. But since regular flames are too simple, I wanted to do it a bit more complicated and went for True Fire. Although, it would have it's own style. The car itself is basically standard, I fitted the scooped hood and fitted the side fenders, although I altered them, so they are flush with the underline of the body, instead of having a gap.

1/8 Pontiac Firebird Turbo Trans-Am
The Creative Explorer replied to The Creative Explorer's topic in WIP: Model Cars
The engine in it's new coat I hope to make sparkplugs out of this And a clear picture of the before and after cleaning up of the parts -
Last year I got a kit from the USA, which was started, but promised to be still restorable and make something nice out of it. When it came in, I started disassemble the engine and try to get rid of the paint. Which was a hard job, I lost interest and the kit went to the background. But two weeks ago I felt the urge for a big scale again and repacked myself, started on working on getting the parts cleaned up. I started with the engine, got rid of the paint, got rid of the chrome on the valve-covers and filled the gaps. Then I made me some 'Corporate Blue' paint and sprayed the engine. After that I started on the parts and so far, I basically cleaned all the parts. Now it is time to work on them, sand them, make them look good and spray them in the right color. Box: The engine as it came: The rest of the kit The start of restoring The rest of the engine parts Getting rid of the joint-lines

I must say, the concept shows quite naturally. Look's like it could've happened in real life. Nice work

New Body From Tdr Innovations

No Daytona, Superbird! I still want one too. What I am still questioning is how strong RP is. How brittle is the material, how rough is it? How should we handle it, what kinds of glue do we need? And after everything is assembled, how much pressure can it handle? I am not talking about squeezing the heck out of it, but can we just lift it up by grabbing it, or do we need to lift it on a base. It might sound stupid, but I honestly have no idea. -
What have i done ?!?!?!
The Creative Explorer replied to eburg_Dub's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
They are really nice engineered, but don't have a high production number. So prices shoots up a bit. I have Renault 5 Turbo by them and mine cost 230 dollars.. -
Thanks for the reply's guys! The color is pearlgold as base, then I added the tribal with candy-apple red and on top I added some coats of Candy emerald green, topped with X21 from Tamiya, unthinned and through the airbrush. I was suprised with the nice effect of the paint, the gold comes through with a certain light and makes it colorshift a little. @Steve; the wheels came with the kit, but were leftover parts. Meaning, the tires that came for the right ZG wheels, didnt fit the Watanabe's. The wheels were too wide too, so I modified the tires and wheels so it does fit. @Tito: How are you? I am doing fine, long time no see man!, and thank you!. This car came with basically no-chrome factory stock, so I kept with it, but I decided to go a tiny-little custom with it. Modernise it a tad. I will starting on the same car, but in 1/12 scale soon. @Lee: I made the ghost markings by shooting a little bit of candy-red through a tribal mask and painted over that with candy-green, but to be honest, I wish I used a little less candy-red. And I will see if I can make some pics in the next few days.

I finished this one a little while ago, but forgot to post the final pics. It was a very straightforward, simple build, but I did opened the hood and wired the engine underneath:

After a long time on not having purchased anything due to economics, I sold some off my older kits and decided to use halve of it for new modelmaterial. First I noticed the Ferrari 575 Superamerica, one of my all-time favourite Ferrari's, but never got the hang of one. Basically because of the weird box-art, but after seeing that burgundy Superamerica, it seems to be quite a nice kit to have. It is mostdefinately not my thing, but I saw this kit, it was cheap(ish) and weird, so reason enough for me to get it and it will make a nice airbrush practice project En then I went to a different store, where they had this lovely Nissan for sale. The standard 350Z looks ok, but the Nismo version just looks right and I tried for a while to get my hand on one of these, but for 60 dollars it was just too much. Fortunatelly I noticed this one. And to the bigger scale, I wasn't really looking for the kübel, but I came across it and it had a decent price tag, so I took it with me. And no, it will not be built as a Hitler-mobile. It will be built as a street-rod. And I hope I can do that, haha. And the reason why I went to that particular store was because of this beauty: I just recently finished the Fujimi 1/24 and love the look of it. I saw the kit online and knew I wanted it. I love to do bigscale's and I got it. Once I got it at home, I really starting to love this kit. The detail is so exquisit and there is so much thought into this kit, so I decided to buy one more and I hope it will show up this week. And for illustration purpose only: look at the size

I wouldn't go for hubcaps, but try to find some knock-offs. You know; those fasteners.

Pontiac 301 Turbo
The Creative Explorer replied to The Creative Explorer's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks Chris, I think I can do the sensors now, but still need a picture of the engine passenger side. I am building 1/8 scale and want to do my best on it. I did see the dipstick on the passengerside, but I can't see where it goes into the engine-block and need to see how that looks like. sorry if I am a pain in the butt, but I just want to reproduce the engine as genuine as possible, so I need to see that turbo-junk as well
