Making Custom Decals
The Creative Explorer replied to ddonaca351's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Yes, you can. You need to really pay attention to colors. As the color white is not in your printer! So if you have white's that needs to be printed; use white decal paper. Use this also for very faint or weak colors. Keep in mind that when you do use white paper, alle the unnecessary white needs to be cut-out. And I would advice to use a inkjet printer over a laserprinter. A inkjet printer has a better result -
Interesting.......

Not lucky, just at the right time at the right moment..... I have driven quite a lot of different cars, race, rally and exotics. I have no money at all, less than Joe Average, but I happen to know a few who did quite well in selling software and now are more fortunate. And they are just as nuts about cars as I do. And Nick; Watch Top Gear Episode 12x03 for you to find out why the Fins drive like that. -

Interesting.......

I'll say WRC drivers. I've driven a Formule 3000 car and several WRC's, but when you are doing a rally, you really need balls of steel and dare to do it, since I had to poop all colours of the rainbow after some rallying... When racing on a normal circuit, you can put yourself to the limit and sometimes over it, without any bad consquences. With on a rally-stage, you basically can not afford a big mistake. You could end up in a tree, ditch or 100 feet below in a canyon. -
Ok, so I popped up a question in the roadster contest topic and I would like to put down my vision. What if....We held our online modelling contest? Build a certain themed build in a pre-defined time. We could put our skills and knowledge to it and most of all; help other builders out with problems. So it will not just be for the wins, ( since there is nothing to win ) but for fun and fellowship. If Gregg seems this idea possible, I would be willing to host the contest and help out making it possible online. We could held 2 contests each year, where each contest has a duration of 5 months and 1 month for voting. The winner could end up with an article in MCM. The themes could be widely varied, from pre-war hot-rod's to modern day tuners.... Would anybody interested in a friendly contest? Sharing their knowledge and skills? Build something out of their league? Please add a reply and hope that the G-man finds it interesting

Is this that Volvo hotrod? I think it is real, although the background is deceiving. -
3 Christine, BIG!!! Update February 8th
The Creative Explorer replied to The Creative Explorer's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Yes, I found a fun tutorial for cases and decided to use it promptly. I had fun building it, my skills needs to be improved, but for my first self-made case, I am quite happy. It probably will take a long, long time before it is finished, there is just so much custom work in this project. So much more than I ever did before and so much stuff I never done before. Yesterday I decided to make my own trunk-lid, because the one I cut out, was way too thick. I also decided to make my own doorpanels and made the water-thingies in the trunk area. Stuff I've never done before, but for the sake of the project starting to do. -

Thanks all for the reply's, I am enjoying the interest, the thoughts and trivia shared. Well, since the Ferrari got the most attention lately, I wasn't able to work on the Christine project a lot. But I do have some more pictures for you. I never ever have put together a diorama, but I think things are going well, It still needs tweaking, but that will come along the way. I am focussing now back on the Christine project. -
don't rate my opinion too high, but....I like the shape of the Cuda, it might not be the most accurate for the diehards and true fans. It does make a really nice kit, and I don't really get most of the discussions about the accuracy of the smaller details. I think it is more important to have a kit, have fun building it and looks decent to the real car. So what if the panels are a little of or the tailgate is slightly in a different angle...

Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona 'Early Version'
The Creative Explorer replied to The Creative Explorer's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thanks, I really hope to win some more BMF skills, as it is for sure i do need them. I hope Raul is reading here and can show me his tip from balsa. I would be really interested in that. Yeah it sucks about the job, I just want to get more money ASAP, so I can buy me a ticket to see my girl in Portland again. -
Ferrari 365 GTB/4 'Daytona'
The Creative Explorer replied to The Creative Explorer's topic in Model Cars
Thanks so much guys, I am flattered! I do agree on the panel lines, I always use a marker, but my marker was gone and I used one which is to thick, so it didn't come out really nice. I bought a new marker yesterday and see how that will go -

Hi all, Thanks for looking at my newest, it is the Ferrari 365 GTB/4 12 cilinder front-engined supercar. I used the kit from Fujimi from the famous Enthusiast series. That series is just marvelous, I love them. Much detail has been added and while I am a beginner, I am pleased with the progress I have made with my skills. Although I see a lot to improve, the learning-curve is steep, but it takes time. Please drop me a line with your comment and (supported) criticism.

Thanks Guys! Raul; can you please show me a picture? I would love to see the chisseled point you make. Cal; I use BMF Ultrachrome, since that one doesn't rip and break. But it sticks really bad. Well, the project is approaching it's end. I am working on the final touches and will soon be able to post the rest of the in-porgress pictures together with the final shoot. But Here is a teaser for y'all -

I need to do a few more things in order to finish it, I worked quite hard on the car, and got quite far. Even tough I see quite a few mistakes, I am looking forward to finish up this one. -
3 Christine, BIG!!! Update February 8th
The Creative Explorer replied to The Creative Explorer's topic in WIP: Model Cars
True, I guess it is movie inaccuracy. I am building the car to the assembly-line example, but the 2 brand-new Christine's are a little less important for their accuracy. I am pushing myself over my own skills to make the 'first-sight' as accurate as possible, and my work will be focussed on that one though.
