Name That Car!
The Creative Explorer replied to Nick F40's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Looks communisticy to me -
This is the case; YOU ARE ALL SPOILED IN THE USA! And I am jealous hahaha. I've lived a year in Vancouver, WA and learned what it is to have such a great supply for modelling, there is so many things to choose from. And then I came back in The Netherlands...hmmmm...yeah....Not really motivating. I got to learn Jimmy Flintstone products and I liked them, I bought several over in The States, but have no luck finding them in Europe. (for a decent price). I have been dumped out of my previous job 2 months ago and want to do something. And was thinking of continueing something that I started little more than a year ago. A online webshop. I do not have any intentions to make huge profits, what I want to do is stimulate the aftermarket supply's and make that affordable and within approach of the European customers. Coming to this topic; I would like to ask the resin-casters on this forum if you are interested in helping out, making a interesting variety in the products-range. My girlfriend is living in Portland and she doesn't mind to collect and ship it all together for me. So basically, you only have to ship it to a US address, the rest is taken care of. I am not looking into huge discounts on products ( a little one would be nice, to keep prices affordable after shipping ). But I am looking for resin-casters who are willing to set-up for a extra challenge

1940 Ford Sedan Delivery

A new week, a new project. This project has been in my head for more than a year or so. But never came to it. Although recently I purchased the 1940 Sedan/Delivery, this could be a nice foundation for the project in my head. Time was consuming and most of it went to my Christine project. What I had left, I used it for my Ferrari Daytona. But the Christine's are mostly in the painting-stage and there is a lot of time in between. Time which I was going to use to start on a Fujimi Enthusiast BMW 635. It did not really got me motivated and I wanted to build something pre-war again. So, the idea popped back up in my head again today and I went to the model-pile. I dug out the Sedan Delivery and I went to my desk, next was getting a pair of 18 Inch BBS from Fujimi and I got them underneath. Yeah, this could work. Enthusiastic about, I started to get the suspension parts out of the box and fixed them, so I could determine the ride-height. It needed to be low, but not non-plus-ultra. I came to the conclusion that the old rear-axle was not going to work, so I made a new axle from a little bit of sprue. I cut out the old axle and got the new axle mounted to the rear-dif. I had now my ride-height in the back. I started with the front and with leaf-springs up front too, I also decided to modernise that. So the old axle went and I made a new one in the rough. There is the choice of a flathead V8 or buick overhead cam V8 and I went with the last one, I might want to add a charger, but depends on the room between underneath the bonnet, I don't want to cut a hole. quite impressive for this kit. I've build it too, I need to say that the quality of the kit was poor. ( or it was my modelling skills....hahaha) I love it, job well done!

Amazing David, although you make it look as it is easy. Maybe a little later, I might consider to work with C/F too

I will keep watching this, those S27's are so nice, but just way out of my league

3 Christine, BIG!!! Update February 8th
The Creative Explorer replied to The Creative Explorer's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Guys, I need your help/opinion. I've never build anything weathered and this is my first. I had to make a interior that looks worn. So I downloaded some pictures from carsinbarns.com for study. I came up with these seats; did I made it realistic for my Christine-project? Do I need to change anything? Any input will be helpful. -
I strongly disagree with the guy from LHS, you should use primer for 2 reasons; 1- Adhesion for the color-paint and 2- for prepping the body for a smooth coat. I know there are people not using primer, but I strongly recommend it. It makes sure the paint doesn't peal off if you had to mask a part or scrap alongst it with a knife ( for what reason that might be haha) But also, it makes the body extra smooth. I always polish my primer-coat, it makes the body-supersmooth for the following coats of color. There is no difference between dry and wet-sanding in result. Both are the same. The advantage of dry-sanding is that you can follow your progress better. But I would recommend wet sanding, because the water will keep the dust-particles from flying around and makes your sand-paper to last longer. But other than that, there is no difference. Another recommendation; I would go for grid 2000 if you are going to put a color-coat over it. 600 is too coarse for a nice smooth color-coat. But above is just IMHO

3 Christine, BIG!!! Update February 8th
The Creative Explorer replied to The Creative Explorer's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thanks Steve, I'll make sure to check it out. Are shipping prices decent? Gerry; I envy you! hahaha, maybe you can share some pictures of both? And yes, I do agree with you. And the weirdest thing I found out, the car is neither a Fury or Belvedere, it has features of both and it has a custom interior. Weird....hahaha i haven't seen 'Riding the bullet', but I am going to make sure I will. And there was that other book, I think it was called just 'Cadillac'. -

Awesome car Dave, what did you use for the base? I've never seen a '34 in this scale before. -

3 Christine, BIG!!! Update February 8th
The Creative Explorer replied to The Creative Explorer's topic in WIP: Model Cars
And the latest update on this ongoing project, Work on the two nice Christine's is going pretty much straight forward. The interiors has been painted and fitted onto the chassis. The body's has been painted, but I was not quite satisfied with the outcome, so I sanded them down today and gave them a polish. So they are ready to receive a few extra coats of red this week probably. (Does anybody know where I can get grid 3200 polishing pads?). When I dryfitted the nice Christine's, I noticed that the back-seat is punching through the rear-window, so a few cuts have been made and it should fit now. The work on the other Christine is a lot slower; I made my own trunk-lid, since the one I cut out was just way to thick on the worn-out Christine, I also started to make good progress on the doorshells on both sides. -
Go to the specific topic, and than find the button "add reply" in the lower right of the page or upper right. Then post whatever you wanted to.

It's better if you post everything in one project topic This way you keep it organised and from scattering around. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.p...c=16023&hl=

Ferrari 365 GTB/4 'Daytona'

Thanks, I will try to find that article and see if I can learn something from it. -
I would love to see some more pictures, although I hope you would not mind if I gave a little bit of criticism. It seems if you used a gloss paint for the seats and panels, more realistic would've been if you used a flat or satin color. And try to use at least a few different shades of paint, since it is virtually impossible to have everything in exact the same color. It also seems if the hardware on the doorpanels not have been painted. I hope it helps with this or next build
