This may not look like a Thanksgiving Day topic, but I did finish it on the dinner table about 2 hours before dinner. Someone posted this picture on the Milan Dragway Memories website and I thought, "Man, I could build that!" I started with the AMT 1967 Camaro Z-28 and used the big-block, headers and ladder bars from the Old Pro Nova. I used the intake and carbs from the 66 Nova kit. The American Racing wheels and tires are from a Moebius S/S kit and the chrome steelies and slicks are from the parts stash. The decals are from Chuck's and the flames are from Slixx.

1965 Dodge Altered Wheelbase - Landy's Dodge
Altered Ego replied to Altered Ego's topic in Drag Racing
I think the Dodge builds easier than the Plymouth. I am considering building two more of them. I think I have my sedan picked out. -
I couldn't resist encroaching on MW Elky's awesome Building The Covers series on this one. I had the advantage of this magazine and wanted to include it for anyone wanting to build this version. I deviated a little in the two tone paint scheme and Automotive Research lettering. I also included the Cragar rear wheels on wrinkle wall slicks. The stance was achieved with the spring shackles from the Old Pro Nova kit. I had also put a deep sump oil pan and remote double oil filter on this one.

I have finally finished the 1965 Landy's Dodge. I took some creative deviations from the original in the paint with the two black and silver and the Automotive Research lettering. I went with a set of wrinkle wall slicks I had in the parts box and put a set of Cragars on them like Landy did when running the wrinkle walls. I am posting this on it's own thread as well.

As always, excellent work my friend. I don't mean to impose on your thread, but I had to share this relic from my collection with you.

BUD FAUBEL’S TURBOCHARGER 64/65 DODGE

MW, you are my hero. It seems whenever I have an idea to do some off-the-wall build and begin to list out the items needed, you pop right in there with the build! These builds combined with you Building The Covers series are my favorites on this site. Keep up the good work. -
Simply said, this is a badass project. I can't wait to see where this goes.

I love the project, have thought of this one in the past but just haven't done. It looks great and can't wait to see the finished product. Slixx has Casler on the Drag-On Lady 65 Belvedere decal sheet and Jardine is on the Don Nicholson Maverick sheet. I hope this helps. -
Does anyone have a source for any Speedwin Automotive decals? I am thinking something like this, but open to anything.

This will be an interesting project. I will be following along on this one.

Another nice build my friend, I love the idea of using the Grumpy Vega scoop.

65 Altered Wheelbase Dodge - Sneak Peek
Altered Ego replied to Altered Ego's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Making some progress on the Landy car. I added a small detail as this one is looking like a late season version of the Landy's Dodge. When Dick ran the new wrinkle wall tires, he ran Cragar wheels. I came across these tires and decided to put the new wrinkle walls on here. I will probably post this on a new thread when completed and on the Altered Wheelbase Fun thread. -
I am completely blown away by the focus and detail that some of you have on here. It is amazing to me that you can take that much time and effort to build these amazing models. If I can't finish a model in a month and have it be "close enough" it goes in the closet until who knows when and what even happens to it. Great work on an incredible build.

“BUILDING THE COVERS “ Vol # 90 GRUMPY’S TOY VII 1970 PRO STOCK CAMARO
Altered Ego replied to M W Elky's topic in Drag Racing
Very nice, I love posting pictures of old builds. -
Hadn't planned on finishing this one today, but couldn't sleep this morning and got an early start. This one is pretty much box stock with the carbs and cross ram. The decals were an OLD set of Johan decals. I have another complete set if anyone would like to build something similar. Actually got some work done on the Landy car today.

Any one of those could have been seen at your local dragstrip back in the day. Nice work!

I built these quite some time ago and decided to pull them off the shelf and share. The 33 is one of my favorite models I have ever built.
-
Does anyone have or know of anyone that makes these decals? I have inspiration for a new build and need these to start the process. I have lots of decals and/or parts to trade.
-
I found this to give you inspiration

I have some fresh leftover Landy decals from my upcoming Landy's Dodge build if you need them.

65 Altered Wheelbase Dodge - Sneak Peek
Altered Ego replied to Altered Ego's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Here is a sneak peek of #4. I had an OLD set of Color Me Gone decals and decided this would be a cool build. If anyone reading this wants to do a similar project, I have one more complete set of 1964 Color Me Gone decals free to a good home.
