Test shot of Moebiuse Altered wheel base '65 Dodge coronet
Altered Ego replied to Mr mopar's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I agree with papajohn97 wholeheartedly. My list is Landy's Dodge, Ramchargers, etc. My most ambitious version will be the maroon Mr. Norm car. I have been cutting up some Moebius chassis experimenting with the best way to build that one. -
One of my favorite F/Xers from 1964. Nicely done. I wish someone would make one with the 2% wheelbase alteration. Oh well, maybe you have inspired me to try it sometime.

This super cool. I love the theme and of course, the quality and detail of your builds. Now on to the Mercury Comets?
-
Very cool! Hard to believe they were built 10 year apart.

“BUILDING THE COVERS “ VOL # 42 The 1972 AMC Gremlin X of Wally Booth
Altered Ego replied to M W Elky's topic in Drag Racing
That is beautiful, the only way it would look better, would be on my shelf next to my later version. -
The phase out of the M&H pie crust slicks to the Goodyear wrinkle walls started around mid-year 65 and throughout 66. The best example of this is the 65 Dick Landy Coronet. Notice in pictures of this car that Landy had American Racing wheels mounting the M&H slicks and used Cragar SS wheels with the wrinkle wall Goodyears. Realistically, as many things changed on these cars during the 65 season, the rear slicks were included in this.

Very nice representation. You really captured it with this one.

Very well done, this body style makes a beautiful altered wheelbase car.

“BUILDING THE COVERS “ Vol # 37 THE AWB 1966 NOVA OF DICK HARRELL
Altered Ego replied to M W Elky's topic in Drag Racing
Both of you, MW Elky and papajohn97, are amazing in my book. We all do the same style of builds, but mine simply aren't at the same level as you two. Keep up the good work, I love looking at them and picking up tips and inspiration along the way. -
papajohn97, glad you have joined in on this fun. This is looking great so far. I am taking notes on this one. I was going to cheat and use the upcoming Round 2 Chevelle AWB body and try to mate it to the Revell Z-16 chassis. Keep up the good work, I will be following along.

This is the third in my recent "binge build". This car was really a parts bin special, so I will give the best details I can. I started with the Model King Warbucks Mustang and painted the body Testors Extreme Lacquer yellow and used Slixx Frantic Ford decals. The chassis is the AMT 1967 Shelby GT-350 piece and fit very well with the Model King interior tub. I cut out the trans tunnel and torque boxes to fit the interior tub. The 427 Cammer is a leftover Moebius Comet piece mounted 8" back from stock. Everything else was just pieced together from leftover kit parts. The concept is a match race version of the Ford A/FX Mustangs. This meant the rear axle was moved forward 8" instead of 3" on the A/FX car. The front axle is from the Cosmic Charger dragster mounted with leftover leaf springs, replacing the A/FX Mustang's cumbersome torson leaf setup.

Mickey Thompsons '71 Mustang Funny car...
Altered Ego replied to Mothersworry's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
It is almost a shame to cover such nice work with a body. -
I don't usually post in the WIP Section, but this car has been coming along nicely. I have spoken with quite a few people on here about an accurate chassis for the Model King AWB Mustang body. The AMT 1967 Shelby GT-350 chassis works very well. I had to cut the transmission tunnel and torque boxes out to fit the Model King interior tub. I will post some engine bay pics as the catalyst for this project was a leftover Moebius Cammer from a Comet build I had done. A special thanks to afx for the resin hood, it fit perfectly.

MW looks great and so original. I can't wait to see how the Omni turns out.
-
Nicely done, I can't even decide which color I am going to paint in two days.

I finally finished this one. This car started with a Fremont Racing body, again very good quality. I decided to use the Moebius AWB chassis and didn't realize how different the '64 and '65 cars were. I would recommend using a '64 donor Plymouth and altering the chassis. I used the Richard Petty Plymouth for the grille, headlight covers, valve covers, dash panel, instrument panel and taillight covers. Sedan windows didn't fit, so I made them from scratch. Again, I took creative liberties on the decals.

It's been awhile, but here is my latest build. This is a total copy of Swinger 340's Virginian build. Used the same Fremont Racing body and the same Moebius chassis, engine, etc. After messing up the first set of Fred Cady decals, I painted my stripes and ordered another set of decals. The only chassis modification I encountered was having to narrow the chassis behind the rear wheel wells. The resin body appears thicker in this area. The Fremont Racing body is by far the best resin body I have ever used. This was also my first attempt at building my own windows and was surprisingly easy.

I was looking for one of the Fremont Racing versions to build the Virginia Twister. I am finishing up two new AWB Plymouths now.
-
I have at least 4 Coronets planned. Have been collecting parts for awhile now.
-
It came out very nice. I love the aluminum work in the engine bay.
-
Scott8950, I love this build. I have been looking at these cars for inspiration to build one. This is one is very inspiring and very well done. Everything about this build is cool. Thank you for the details. I am thinking maybe a Yankee Peddler in the future.

“THE PLATT BROS. “ SIBLING RIVALRY 1963 Z-11 CHEVY IMPALAS
Altered Ego replied to M W Elky's topic in Drag Racing
I have a set of Huston Dixie Twister decals. I don't remember where I got them. They are supposed to be the '65 fastback car, but I put them on an AWB '65 Chevelle. I have held this set waiting for a good '64 Chevelle kit. -

That is a pretty cool build idea and nicely done.
