  1. Wow, great looking bunch of builds! I especially like the Don Nicholson Comet Cyclone.
  2. Nice, clean looking group. The microbus is very cool.
  3. Lots of downtime for truckers with today's regs and electronic data loggers. A truck stop, a sleeper and a model kit on a cold rainy night? Seems like a good way to pass the time.
  4. Gorgeous build. Sorry to hear about your losses. I have a pit bull and love that dog dearly. Wonderful dogs and so loving, loyal and protective.
  5. One of my father-in-law's favorite movies. I actually thought about posting this car in memory of him. I found the movie on blue-ray at a thrift store a few years ago.
  6. Thought I would try to turn back the hands of time on this Revell '32 kit and make it a highboy with a flathead. Robbed parts from the AMT '34 Ford 5-window Coupe, and the parts box.
  7. Thank you! The other project which I just recently completed is this model of a '64 Chevy C20 I owned about 40 years ago.
  8. Thank you for the nice compliment!
  9. Thank you! You know the guys beside me was white as a ghost. But hey, he's the one that ribbed me for being behind!
  10. Ha ha! Love it. Thank you!
  11. The original Bluesmobile. It had cop tires, cop brakes, cop suspension and a cop 440 plant. And it was the year before catalytic converters so it ran on regular gas!
  12. Thanks guys! I greatly appreciate the positive comments.
  13. Absolutely gorgeous! Very nice gasser, Bob. Love it!
  14. Apologies, I should have said, and what I was referring to is, to "cut and buff" as it applies to a 1:1 car after the paint job is complete. The process of progressively working up to 1500 - 2000 grit followed by polishing compounds. You could also sand with fine grit paper and re-coat with paint or clear.
  15. I don't think it's fair to categorize a segment of builders as lazy just because they are satisfied with a simple and relatively quick out-of-box build. It's certainly a level of ambition above plopping die cast cars on a shelf. It does require ambition (not laziness) to start a kit and see it through from beginning to end, to make decisions on paint colors, details, etc. Everyone improves or plateaus to their own personal satisfaction. Let's not discourage them. People have been inspired to attempt a build after watching a YouTube builder when they may otherwise never have tried building a model, or even knew such a thing existed. That IS inspiration. And that algorithm and high viewership? Well, that will put the feed into someone's YouTube queue when they may not have been looking for such a thing. That's exposure to the hobby, and that's a good thing. Inspiring people just to build sells kits and supplies, and keeps the hobby alive.
  16. I started a WIP nearly 4 years ago (see below). Like all of my projects and tools/kits/supplies, everything soon got packed away for our upcoming retirement and big move. Well, four years later, having completed our move and set up an awesome hobby area in our basement, and with winter set in here in North Dakota, I've been able to pull some projects out and get back to work. As my WIP explains, this Hot Rod Lincoln was based on Charlie Ryan's original build of a Lincoln V12 in his Model A. The original song written by Charlie said "Got 12 cylinders and uses 'em all". I stretched the hood, relocated the radiator and fabricated the cross bar the headlights mount on, since the original was straight across with the short 4-cyl. I cut down the Lincoln dash and installed it with the Lincoln steering wheel. It was a fun project, but finishing up was a bit of a pain, the body and windows were quite fiddly. I ended up cutting my own windows from clear plastic so that I could get them glued in. Anyway, I'm calling this one done. This is my second completed model in the past 30 years. Whoopee! Thanks for looking.
  17. Very accurately stated "ARTIST and modeler in my personal time". You obviously have the eye and skill of a fine artist. As others have said, your weathering is phenomenal. Welcome!
  18. All are nice and clean, crisp builds. Very nice.
  19. Those are all outstanding. I wish I could draw worth a $*!#.
  20. Very, very nice. I admire your artistic skill.
  21. Another vote for the boat tail Riviera. A '71 or '72 would be preferred, before the big impact absorbing bumpers.
  22. Well stated. If HPIguy or other "out of the box", slap it together channels create more interest in the hobby that is good for all of us. It means more demand and therefore maybe more subjects we're all waiting for. My 'net surfing reveals that just about every skill level of model building is available for the watching.
  23. Cool! You can't go wrong with Chuck Berry and a Cadillac!
  24. Stunning model! One would never guess from your results that this kit had problems. Very nice.
