Really, REALLY laughed out loud! Great description! Great job on the foil too!

Lookin' forward to seeing this one progress, Darin!

I'm going to vote REAL. Note that reflection on the wheelcovers... and the bumper.

Minor FAIL. One of the pivot housings on my scratched trailing arms fell apart. So that means new t-arms will be made, except this time, each one will be one-piece. Also, this stuff doesn't come naturally to me. So, I need to learn as I go. That can lead to errors. If you look at the earlier photos, the rear axle is free to rotate on its axis. Big FAIL. My new rear suspension will now have 4 t-arms. I still need to build my rear coil-over shocks. Plus I will need a rear Panard (Panhard? sp?) bar. So far, everything back there will be functionally free to move. Lets see if I can do likewise with the coils and Panard. At first, I though I would only replace the failing 2 trailing arms: Here, I have fab'd 4 new t-arms, and added a second set of mounts to the crossmember. Odd how I had originally made my rear axle t-arm mounts large enough to use 4 arms. I did that right... by coincidence! Below is the back side of the crossmember, which will be near the front of the truck bed. I don't want any more parts breaking off, so those U-brackets to mount the t-arms are not just epoxied, they were also drilled & pinned. For appearance, I will cut some hex nuts and add to the pins before those also get trimmed down to length. I am really winging it here. If I had better knowledge of suspension design, I could have avoided a few mistakes. I hope I am not boring anyone with all this. My goal is, maybe by writing all this out; it may help me to remember, thus avoiding a repeat. Well, that's my story, and I'm sticking to it!

Great article. Thanks Greg. -
Yeah Skip, this came to light within days of another feature Espada that was shown on Jalponik. I wonder if they are one in the same?

Are we, sometimes, unfriendly?
Jon Cole replied to DRG's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
In the 1:1 hobby, those are the kinda guys who should stay in the garage. I have seen that behavior, it is annoying. At a car show a few years back, I was gawking at a Ford GT-40. The rear bonnet was up. I think it was the first time I had seen one in person, and was completely smitten. I handed my camera to the wife, and said "Take my picture with this!!!" So I knelt down by the rear tire, and... the jerk who owned it, completely oblivious to me and wrapped up in his own conversation / ego gush with another person. I guess he wanted to either look at, or show something in the engine to the other guy. Completely ignoring me, he walks right into my "photo zone", just as my wife takes the pic! Arrrgh! And he stayed there! It was about... 140 degrees in the shade that day; my head was already spinning. I have bad knees, and my wife needed to give me a hand to get back up. Still totally oblivious to me. But hey... it was his car. And he can enjoy it 24/7. I just wish he would have let me have my moment. Point is, that callousness is everywhere. We live in a "Me! Me! Me!" age; the h e c k with everyone else. -
Check out these pipes
Jon Cole replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Exactly as I suspected! Thus my "art" comment. But I also wonder if the ideal design tries to keep all pipes to similar lengths? The plumbing to the front chamber(s) will be longer than the pipes to the rear chambers, so they perhaps compensate with more bends to the rear cylinders? BTW, on a related note, I finally purchased some solid core solder yesterday. I thought it would be listed in millimeters, but all were in standard. I bought a roll of 3/32". Looking forward to doing my own pipes & heads. -

Are you referring to the turbo plumbing? -

Why can't they just weld pipe to the flange, even at an angle, to get from point A to point B as straight as possible? I guess I don't understand why some of the shapes seems more elaborate then needed. How much of this is done for other reasons? Perhaps audio tone? Back pressure? In theory, couldn''t the exhaust header start w/ 4 pipes into a funnel shape, tapering down to one pipe? Might not look good, just wondering why some pipes do big loops, other pipes don't. Is there a science to it? BTW, I am referring to non-turbo setups. -
LoL! When you posted "Lil Yeller", I first thought of... ...which is of course not correct. That would be "Ol' Yellar". No kit of that, I suspect. Is this what you refer to? That would be a very old tool. I built one as a kid; I can barely remember one hour ago, so I cannot help you on kit details. There were several different versions of that show rod kitted; the drivetrains (what there is of it) look similar.

Something to note- these pipes could be viewed as works of art. Well, at least by car guys. To bend; shape; construct, and weld these steel snakes into a functional finished product is kinda cool. So, how on earth do they know how to shape the pipes like that? What is the guiding principal to all the twists and bends? -

Bob Dudek. I believe he goes by the name "BobDude" here. -
Yeah! I rate this thread... 100% worthy! Thanks!

Looks good. Real good! Don't forget those side marker lights need color. A fine-tip Sharpie could do the job on the red lights.

Happy Birthday, George! What's your set of wheels?

Wow... it only took me a year to notice this question... No, not two tires. That is (iirc) the rears from the Willys kit. I did sand the tread, but that seam still shows. It's not that obvious in person... I think.

Got to love a Ferrari in a wild color scheme. Great job! Painting the white vs. depending on the decals was a good move.

That was created back a ways, from their "Yeah, whatever" series. I think half of their employees back then took the job thinking they would be working with the other, more "leggy" type of models. -
