  1. Robert Reder, co-founder of Monogram, has passed away. http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/chicagotribune/obituary.aspx?page=lifestory&pid=148793031
  2. I'm never going to finish the Testors Charger Daytona (diecast door gaps!), at least I completed the engine. I will prob need to repaint the orange insert. BTW, it looks like Lindberg didn't include any decals of the dash heater & radio controls... bummer. I tried to make one in my crude art program... 3. Details & weathering! Nice work, no matter when it was made!
  4. Ay! Finally caved; bought a model! Still cannot find a Charger police car... hoping for Friday.
  5. Surprisingly nice in satin black!
  6. Real nice job on the 917, Steve!
  7. I have seen the destruction on CNN, aweful. The residents and families of those affected are in my thoughts and prayers
  8. Ironic you mention Border Patrol. I believe there is a funeral today for one of the officers who was gunned down by the cartel.
  9. Mike- The van is is lookin' great! You have some great ideas here. Like printing out the lug pattern before attempting to drill. It's the small stuff like that one that make a difference.
  10. Make it an inside job.
  11. Remember, a light touch on the blade! Some say the weight of the knife is all you need. If you are tense and stressed, you may put too much pressure on the blade. Thin foil will cut easily... go easy, trim one panel at a time! Want to try something different? For long, thin chrome strips, use "eyeball measuring" to cut the foil to the correct width... right on the sheet. Then peel it up, and apply it like yow were adding pinstriping tape to a car. If it doesn't lay down straight, peel it up and try again. No matter how you do it, save the final burnishing for last; after all the trimming. I know you will do just fine!
  12. Great job on the Prototype!
  13. Now that we know that all versions will have the exact same parts (including lightbars), and nothing is pre-painted in any of the kits, what reason would there be to buy the "undecorated" kit? What does the "undecorated" kit have that the other kits do not?
  14. Awesome Deuce! Is that a concave grille insert?
  15. Congrats on the home improvement! Looks good! BTW, like the kitchen island!
  16. Put those little bottle paints aside. Are you airbrushing? Are you new to airbrushing? And also, do you have experience with spray aerosol paints? You got to walk before you can run. Buy what you need in spray cans... I highly recommend the lacquers from either Testors, or Tamiya. For now, you just want to make it as easy for yourself as possible. Or, you can keep banging your head against the wall with Future, risking more problems.
  17. Bill, I don't have any more info, other than this link to their web page. Unfortunately it's not in English. And I didn't look through it. http://www.academy-e...htm/katalog.htm
  18. GREAT job! They look good!
  19. Awesome Corvair beater! I can see you know 'vairs.
  20. NICE! I hope the kit we are supposedly going to get by Academy is that nice!
  21. When you're hot, You're hot.
  22. You have a lot of stuff going on there. Your best plan would be to stick to one type of product. If you paint with Model Master Enamel, use Model Master Enamel Clear. If you use Testors lacquer paint, use Testors lacquer clear. And so forth... Is the paint cured? I always use the sniff test... if you can smell the paint, it's still curing. You mentioned that you had an issue with the first color when masking for the second color? What exactly happened?
  23. Great job Neil! Glad to see you are building!
  24. John’s sample of the Rommel Rod is amazing. The skeletons in the kit are crude, but John did bone up his detail skills to give them a sinister look. Here is what Mr. Teresi posted on his RR: “I started with the reissue Rommels Rod....... inspired by a Rommels Rod built up that I saw on The Coffin Corner....... and I don`t know the name of the builder.... for there was no name....... anyway I opened the rear door and side door...... the hood is workable..... skeletons were re-worked and I added torn uniforms...... added a radio and supplies that were scratch built..... Tamiya dessert yellow paint and was weathered.... too much to mention what I did to this thing.â€
