  1. Put those little bottle paints aside. Are you airbrushing? Are you new to airbrushing? And also, do you have experience with spray aerosol paints? You got to walk before you can run. Buy what you need in spray cans... I highly recommend the lacquers from either Testors, or Tamiya. For now, you just want to make it as easy for yourself as possible. Or, you can keep banging your head against the wall with Future, risking more problems.
  2. Bill, I don't have any more info, other than this link to their web page. Unfortunately it's not in English. And I didn't look through it. http://www.academy-e...htm/katalog.htm
  3. GREAT job! They look good!
  4. Awesome Corvair beater! I can see you know 'vairs.
  5. NICE! I hope the kit we are supposedly going to get by Academy is that nice!
  6. When you're hot, You're hot.
  7. You have a lot of stuff going on there. Your best plan would be to stick to one type of product. If you paint with Model Master Enamel, use Model Master Enamel Clear. If you use Testors lacquer paint, use Testors lacquer clear. And so forth... Is the paint cured? I always use the sniff test... if you can smell the paint, it's still curing. You mentioned that you had an issue with the first color when masking for the second color? What exactly happened?
  8. Great job Neil! Glad to see you are building!
  9. John’s sample of the Rommel Rod is amazing. The skeletons in the kit are crude, but John did bone up his detail skills to give them a sinister look. Here is what Mr. Teresi posted on his RR: “I started with the reissue Rommels Rod....... inspired by a Rommels Rod built up that I saw on The Coffin Corner....... and I don`t know the name of the builder.... for there was no name....... anyway I opened the rear door and side door...... the hood is workable..... skeletons were re-worked and I added torn uniforms...... added a radio and supplies that were scratch built..... Tamiya dessert yellow paint and was weathered.... too much to mention what I did to this thing.â€
  10. Filmed with 1/32 scale slot cars! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_AsKP1cndo&feature=player_embedded
  11. This page... http://public.fotki.com/JCole/model_car_shows/misc_model_contests/page89.html ...starts about half way down
  12. This is what 3D printing looks like on a 1/25 scale part...
  13. I recall a man by the name of Kevin Keys putting on a model car contest in Bennington, Vermont every February. Does anyone know if, and when it will be? Thanks.
  14. Very cool! To create team graphics... what an honor!
  15. Cranky has an airbrush tutorial on YouTube, real good. Basically, the long needle, the trigger button (which becomes free when the needle is removed), the tip... real basic. See the Doc's vid to see how few parts there are. Gently wipe that needle clean with a towel soaked in thinner, put it back together. Before disassembly, squirt lacquer thinner through (we would spray into the paper towel for severel seconds, then push the tip tight into the towel tight while still spraying; forces thinner to back up- WEAR EYE AND SKIN PROTECTION!). Clean out the bottle; add another dab of thinner; and repeat the "spray-thru" procedure. Have a container such as a metal coffee can (do they still have those?) to dispose of waste thinner. TIP- ask a body shop if they have any leftover empty 1 or 5 gallon metal thinner / reducer cans. I use a 5 gallon with a metal funnel, topped with window screen so nothing else goes down into the toxic abyss.
  16. What Jim says. You can also try Model Master Ivory, over the blue "fluid"
  17. I also say real
  18. Welcome back Jim! I cannot imagine being hospitalized for 62 days... I was in for 5 days w/ pneumonia. I hated it. How did you pass the time?
  19. Way nice Mopar, Jeff! I like the weathered chassis... that is how they are up here! But... no opening doors & trunk?
  20. Real nice job! Great idea.
  21. Do like! I have the '37 Ford pickup on my bench also! Keep it going!
  22. Interesting. Did Ford have a separate dealership line in Canada for Meteor? How were they marketed?
  23. I did know it was sold by Sears, but the name "Allstate" escaped me. Plus I had no idea of the year. Bummer!
