    U like? I'm doin' 3 shows daily!
  2. Just a few... '86 Buick Grand... AMT's '53 Corvette, in need of a lowering: My '67 Vair... If this one had an engine... it would be a six! Mid-ninetees Monte Carlo's... were they sixes? If so... Wow! That's more sixes than I thought.

Jeez, Gramps! I think you nailed the look! Nice build!
  4. I think you're on to something! Great ideas! The Ecto does have a tall roof as it was designed for utility work... If you find a more traditional roof, such as the '59 Chevy as you stated, you need to get one from R+R, or Jimmy Flintstone. I was able to find a pic of a 1960 Cad converted to a Woody Wagon, with the more traditional wagon roof.
  5. I also got 43 out of 50.
  6. I've been watching a few build-up of the Falcon. The more I see shots of the chassis, the more convinced I am... the tool designers... just plain winged it. Really! I know for a fact that the exhaust design isn't even close to accurate. I think they literally guessed at the shape. The entire chassis pan lacks detail, much like one could expect if they lacked (chassis) reference photos. The rear wheel wells are tubbed, which could be a concession to a future release; yet I would be more inclined to believe that it is (again) lack of actual reference. We don't have hundreds of these cars still zipping around every town here in the States; and in China? Closer to none at all. Not a slam; people! Not at all. Just a nod to acknowledge where this kit was designed. Bad design could happen anywhere, but in China, the odds increase due to their unfamiliarity with the subject. Before they were ever handed photos, they had most likely never even seen a Falcon.
  7. If someone were to build one to show how good it looks, then I would probably go with a black over orange paint, and some wide 20+ wheels. Wait. What?
  8. I'm going with model.
  9. Life can always be worse... I thank God I wasn't given the middle name of "Crapo".
  10. Right. It don't matter if it has Ardun heads, or anvils for pistons... it will still be called a flathead, technical accuracy notwithstanding.
  11. IIRC, in one of Big Kahuna's editorials, he made apologies for not being able to deal with the volume of e-mail he gets. Suggest you try again, this time with a title something like "HOT LONELY WOMEN WANT TO MEET YOU". You should get a faster, if not more disappointing response.
  12. Look at it this way... if you had an '84 Chevy El Camino, and installed a Buick Grand Nat'l nose & engine, would it still be a Chevy, or a Buick? Well, in my eyes, it would still legally be a Chevy, due to the vin #, but I would still tell people it was a Buick. Your engine in question... the block numbers would still indicate it as a flathead, so flattie it is. It it still a flathead, but modded with Ardun heads. IMHO, or course.
  13. If those tubs contain a taillight for a Man From Uncle car, hit me up!
  14. The thing is, this rig is so kewl, that even if it had a 'plain' solid color paint scheme, it would still be flat out awesome! Great design. Love the flipped grill that forms a lower valance.
  15. Well, you need to do what you said you don't want to do! Buy several kits, and occasionally cannibalize them. I also scout out yard sales and flea markets. Even if the subject doesn't interest me, if I can buy it cheap, odds are there is something in there I can use. cannibalizing, also known as kitbashing, doesn't seem so wasteful if you use an entire engine or other major part(s). If I use wheels from a different kit, it's not really ruined... I can always build it with wheels from elsewhere. Even if you only have 3 kits, you can still do this. Give it a try!
  16. Nice build! That would be on my list of must builds.
  17. I made these last week. Each unit is 12 pieces; the largest diameter part(s) is 2 diff diameters glued together to get the thickness in the material I needed. And yet in spite of making sure the center rod in each one were equal in length, they... do not match. So tonite, I started over. Besides, I don't like the 'barrels' at each end. Here is a pic of what I think I need. At least at the axle end.
  18. Looks good! Like the wide tires and plenty of rally lights.
  19. THAT... one was yours?! That truck is outstanding! I didn't go, but I have been looking at on-line photo albums. Your '38 Ford Pickup looks so right. Nice job!
  20. Amazing! The guy that runs that other board... the one who got his knickers in a twist over the comments, went ballistic hissy-fit and cried that he therefore wasn't going to sell them? Yeah! That was one, big ruse. He knew all along that he was going to sell them! He changed his mind the following day. Not only that, but "They will be here tomorrow". HA! He obviously knew that all along. So the point is, no matter how good or bad you think it is here... at least we are better... than over there! And as for the Falcon kit, if I happen to find one at a good price, I would buy it. Just not at $39.+
  21. "The easiest way to source your stainless hypo tubing is simply go to the local pharmacy and buy a dozen or so of the biggest gauge syringes they carry." I tried that... they said they won't sell them without a prescrip.
  22. If your next model should look like something Picasso would have built, blame it on the meds! Hope your knee recovers
  23. When you hit a brick wall... turn around. I also was dealing with an attempt at scratchbuilding a 4 link, and all I got was more frustration than results. I wanted real aluminum rods. And while I know it is possible, I am just not there yet. So, I changed direction. I realized that my suspension may work if I switched to square plastic tube. That, and constantly referencing on sites like Google is what helps me. I don't know when I will finish it, it's a very involved build. Maybe my link for pics of suspensions and whatnot will help? Note that it is listed alphabetically: http://public.fotki.com/JCole/chassis_brakes_/ Hope this helps.
