Are real names required or not?

For a show that has no judges, just people’s choice, the odds of taking home an award at the NNL East are by far, slim. Personally, I have never even entertained the idea. And yet, my friend Chris... has done this twice! And for that, I congratulate him. He also won a people’s choice category a few years back with this... Chris posts occasionally over on Spotlight.

VW unveils new microbus loved by hippies

Wow! That pole must have been really flyin'! -
Hey... whatever. Don't change a thing. I won't say a word. I really thought I was offering help. I was wrong. Instead, lets give them what they want. You may now continue the food fight.

Another fantastic build, Peter!

AT THE STROKE OF MIDNIGHT THIS SATURDAY!
Jon Cole replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
He is going around the country to do everyone's wet sanding and polishing for our paintjobs! -
I never could understand why anyone would 'lock out' viewing another persons posts. Kinda says more about the "banner" than the one being banned. But if that is what is desired... OK. That is why I called it "Tough love" Because it is TOUGH. And like it or not, punishment gets results.

Say what, Keith? How on earth did you come up with that? I just support the concept of stronger, quicker means to the end. Harry has one tough job here. And like any moderator, he is trying to be as lenient as can be... which, btw, is far, far more than we get on the competing message boards! All I say is... "Look at the end result in past situations. Always a lock. So I suggest a faster transition between beginning to end. As for helping moderate, well, after this last round, I would certainly consider it (be careful what you wish for?) I would prefer not, considering how a previous moderator was so poorly treated, and quit. Tho I do admit, I do not know the whole story on that one (PLEASE do not tell that tale here... any comments can be made via PM). Different moderators, each with a diff style, but the same goals. These opinions do not diss Harry, if anything, they are meant to agree with, and work together toward the same goals... which are, to take away the sandbox, but allow differing opinions to flourish. But with that freedom will come responsibility. One week bans can be very effective imho. Look at what has gone on here... not just in the past few days, but in the past few years. The poo keeps flowing over the wall... time for a bigger wall. Tough love time.

That's just it, Harry. Every time these (as they have been called) "pissing contests" are allowed to slide... the proverbial poop just keeps flying. Maybe a little more speed on the trigger could stop the nonsense sooner? You must admit... you try... and want to let it go, but sooner or later, it's the same thing. Posts get locked. Godzilla doesn't think about crushing someone for two+ pages before stomping 'em! We need more godzilla.

What transpired here in the past 24+ hours is a disgrace; shouldn't be tolerated, and those who instigate should be booted off this forum, PERIOD. Perhaps not permanently, perhaps for a week... enough to catch their attention. I have saved a copy of most of the offending posts, because I now have "proof" of who said what. No more hiding. Anyone fans the flames, they should pay the price. Kidding around is good, but posting unrelated videos just for the sake of making a point, does indeed. And that point is: you seem to lack maturity. You should be held accountable. Telling others how to behave, when (you) yourself cannot do likewise... is just wrong. How on earth are we to expect others to try our board... the Model Cars board, when everyone is acting out like spoiled children in a sandbox? It is pathetic, as well as embarrassing. You know this to be true. You can kid yourself, and maybe a few of your play pals, but... you don't fool me. I would hope the rest of our friends here are as fed up as I am. Please... stop this bad behavior. And for the "pals", stop feeding the flames. Just my 2¢ worth... but the value is climbing.

Blast from the past

And when we run out of Big Willie stuff, I'll be patiently waiting for "Big" Jungle Pam stuff! Of course, this IS at the risk of running afoul of the "NO GIRLS ALLOWED" issue... -

This is the early 2000's concept. I also like Harry's changes he did to the new concept. Lose their squinting eyes, the ridiculous waterfall nose, and you may have something. BTW, there was a plastic 1/25 promo done of the earlier concept shown above. I have it stashed away. Someday I should hunt it down and photograph it. -
Tic-Toc, Tic-Toc
Jon Cole replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The doc's videos can be avoided by you if you so choose. Nobody is being forced to view them. Sounds like an easy solution to me. Besides, what did everyone expect he was going to do? Send everyone here 3 cases of model kits? Travel to each and everyones residence to do all your paint polishing for you? Maybe... some here had there hopes set just a tad too high? Finally, it should be noted that Doc's videos seem to be posted with the full permission and support of the management of this board.... which, it sadly must be again pointed out, Gregg pays for. -

You keep doing your own thing, Doc! Sad how things turn into a "Waaa! Waaa!" fest around here. You preach to your choir, and we'll keep the motor runnin' in the Waaambulance.... just in case. -

I figure that Franklin Mint is good for doing the Aston. Maybe Yat Ming could add the high top Rolls to their limousine series. -
Great set of photos, almost as good as looking into the kit box which for me is still in the mail. From what I can see, there looks to be many parts that were done quite well. That being said, I talked to my model car kit vendor yesterday who said that for him, the kit seems dead in the water and that was true even when he was taking pre-orders. Is that because of all the negative reviews or are Falcons just not a very popular subject? Personally I have always liked Falcons and owned a '65 Futura Hardtop 4-speed which I still miss. I always found it hard to understand why people did not think it was the coolest car on the street!

Factory phantom? 59 Nomillac
Jon Cole replied to bbowser's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Friend of mine built a '59 Chevy Brookwood Wagon. I don't remember if it's a JF, or R&R resin. -
To post photos, you will need a photo hosting site. I use Fotki, but most others use Photobucket. Once you do that, we can help you with the rest.

History Being Made
Jon Cole replied to spkgibson's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm watching it on cable news... honestly, if they didn't tell us, it would be impossible to tell if it was Japan's tsunami zone, or tornado destruction in the South. There is so much damage, from so many different natural disasters around the world, it's as if there is nothing natural about any of this. -
