  1. I'll be there... always have been, always will be. Looking forward to meeting some of you, maybe for the first time, maybe again. I'll be the one running around like a chicken with it's head cut off... not knowing for sure where I'm headed next, but in a ###### hurry to get there!!! -Jon Cole-
  2. I haven't been to a MassCar Show in years, as I grew tired of waiting sometimes literally all afternoon waiting for the judges to wrap it up. But MassCar holds special memories for me. It was either the first or second contest I ever went to, and probably the first I ever actually entered. And I took home some hardware that day, and I was hooked. MassCar was the only contest I won a "Best of" trophy at (Best Finish) I think in '91, for a Buick Grand National. Man, my noggin' had a ego swelling so big, it's amazing I fit out the door that day! I really should go this year... a twentieth anniversary doesn't come along that often! So congratulations to the good gang at MassCar! You guys rock! -Jon Cole-
  3. Well I just did a headliner on a '40 Ford with 3/4" masking tape. I really didn't do as good a job as I should have. This method works better if you use 2" wide masking tape (real masking tape, not that blue or green stuff) and on a later-model flat style roof. For example, on a sixtees or seventees Ford, GM, or Mopar, you may get the entire headliner and C pillars with one piece. A Beetle has a "bowl" shape like the '40 Ford. Of course, you can always add paint and flocking to applied masking tape.
  4. OK, usually I throw out a photo and see if you can guess what it is. In this case, I have no idea what it is! Anyone?
  5. Ford Escort Mk 1, Twin Cam, probably around 1968 to 1970, rally/historic racing series
  6. "Beatnik '55 Ford Bubbletop" CORRECT. Another one...
  7. Thank You! Thank You! I'd like to thank my friends at Wrecked Exotics dot com! Without finding the original photo, I wouldn't be here accepting this award! Which way to the free eats?
  8. Just a wild guess.... 1992 Toyota Celica that crashed into a Ford F-350 head on at a combined speed of 90 mph. Am I close?
  9. OK, you may or may not have seen this one before.
  10. Dale has it correct. "1969 Camaro Z28 that entered the old yard in 1969 or 1970 with just over 5000 original miles on it after the driver hit a bridge abutment at high speed"
  11. Look closer! The answer IS in there!
  12. We have a Bingo. Hold your cards please! OK, I bet you can get this one... Meantime, I'll be working it over with the buffer...
  13. Nope. Not a Spyder. You do have the first letter correct, tho.
  14. Finally! My LHS got this in, and saved one for me! As hard to find around here as an honest politician!
  15. This sounds like fun! OK, let me throw one out there....
  16. Let me tell you, I could have bought a lot of model kits with what I paid for this, but I have never regretted it. It may well be the only time in my life that I buy such a fine piece of automotive art. The artists name is Nicholas Watts. It's the Porsche 911 EVO from the late nintees. The painting is signed by the artist; numbered, and also signed by all the drivers of this car, complete with photographs of them during the signing! Guess where I have it? (shamefully hands head) It's not. It's in the basement, on the floor, leaning up against a pile of model kits. I have GOT to hang that up over my work bench once again!
  17. Happy Birthday Gregg! Here's a little birthday story to put life in perspective.... "Age is a Funny Thing" Do you realize that the only time in our lives when we like to get old is when we're kids? If you're less than 10 years old, you're so excited about aging that you think in fractions. How old are you?.... "I'm four and a half" .... You're never 36 and a half .... you're four and a half going on five! That's the key. You get into your teens, now they can't hold you back. You jump to the next number. How old are you? "I'm gonna be 16." You could be 12, but you're gonna be 16. And then the greatest day of your life happens .... you become 21. Even the words sound like a ceremony .... you BECOME 21 ... YES!!! But then you turn 30 .... ooohhh what happened there? Makes you sound like bad milk .... He TURNED, we had to throw him out. There's no fun now. What's wrong?? What changed?? You BECOME 21, you TURN 30, then you're PUSHING 40 ..... stay over there, it's all slipping away ........ You BECOME 21, you TURN 30, you're PUSHING 40, you REACH 50 ..... and your dreams are gone. Then you MAKE IT to 60 ..... you didn't think you'd make it!!!! So you BECOME 21, you TURN 30, you're PUSHING 40, you REACH 50, you MAKE IT to 60 ...... then you build up so much speed you HIT 70! After that, it's a day by day thing. After that, you HIT Wednesday .... You get into your 80's, you HIT lunch. My grandmother won't even buy green bananas .... it's an investment you know, and maybe a bad one. And it doesn't end there .... into the 90's you start going backwards .... I was JUST 92 ... Then a strange thing happens. If you make it over 100, you become a little kid again .... "I'm 100 and a half!!!!" It's not like it used to be, is it? Have a good one! -Jon-
  18. Sorry about the double-post. Q for Rudy or anyone else... what is the red object under the fuel cell on the 'Stang? -Thanks-
  19. First, my daily ride is... ...the bosses! Once I drop off the kids at school, I can get 95% of my errands done "on the way home" nudge, nudge; wink, wink! The other 5% of the time, It's my '95 GC. It's great in the winter! I had this one for a long time, a '65 Corvair Monza. Lots of fun at a full service gas station (back when they had such a place) telling the kid to "check the oil", almost always go the front of the car! But the Corvair that my avatar stands for is this '63 Corvair Spyder. Previous owner rebuilt her mechanically, my plan was to re-do the body. I kept saying that for almost 15 years! Finally sold it. I had it registered for about six months, then parked it to "restore" it. Yeah, suuuure!

  21. Hi I am contemplating building my first diorama. Something basic for photography porposes of my models, like a parking lot. The edges may contain trees or brush. I keep trying to picture how in the world am I going to store this? Do you install trees in a way so you can remove & bag them so they don't get covered with cobwebs? The foam core board I will use is 40" x 32" Any tips or advice would be appreciated! -Jon-
  22. So you're saying the Lindberg '40 Ford Coupe is a former... Palmer kit? I thought it was the old AMT kit, or at least a copy of it. This kit is what's currently on my bench. Any comments on what the consensus is to it's origin is appreciated.
  23. I really enjoyed building it. I think it's miles ahead of the AMT/MPC kit. I made my own removable hood hinge support... that tab on the far left hooks in to the top firewall opening. Keith Marks supplied the missing 'TRANS AM'' text
  24. Another item to consider- DAHM's Window Tint, sold at any well-stocked R/C supply hobby shop. You apply it to the outside of the window. It actually looks darker than this photo shows, due to the lighting:
  25. What little ambition I had just got popped when a decal didn't come out the way I had hoped, and upon my attempt to remove the decal about one hour later made a real mess! Solvaset didn't work too well on running board decal that I had made from a JNJ Decal black film, this is how it ended up after trying to remove the decal with more Solvaset, then a pull with masking tape, and eventually with a wire brush and working at it with a tooth pick. Fortunately, the damage didn't go beyond the running board, and though it looks bad, it should mask and paint OK (knocking on wood)
